  • Penguins' Blake Lizotte: Moves to IR

Lizotte (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Sunday.

Lizotte has been upgraded to day-to-day after being week-to-week and participated in Sunday's practice, according to Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site. If Lizotte misses the start of the 2026-27 campaign, it doesn't appear as though it will be a lengthy absence. Lizotte contributed seven goals, 19 points, 49 shots on net, 35 blocked shots and 49 hits in 55 games with the Penguins during the 2025-26 regular season.

  • Justin Brazeau RW | PIT

Penguins' Justin Brazeau: Lands on IR

Brazeau (lower body) was placed on injured reserve by the Penguins on Sunday.

Brazeau is currently considered week-to-week while recovering from the lower-body injury he sustained in the preseason. The 28-year-old winger is coming off a career year, where he posted 17 goals, 34 points, 104 shots on net, 90 hits and 44 blocked shots across 64 regular-season outings. When he recovers, he'll likely factor into the Penguins' bottom six on a somewhat regular basis.

  • Ryan Graves D | PIT

    Penguins' Ryan Graves: Out indefinitely

Graves (lower body) is out indefinitely and was placed on injured reserve Sunday.

Graves will miss the beginning of the 2026-27 campaign, and it's unclear when he will be ready to return. He contributed one goal, 21 shots on net, 38 blocked shots and 23 hits in 22 regular-season appearances for Pittsburgh in 2025-26.

  • Tristan Broz C | PIT

Penguins' Tristan Broz: Won't practice Sunday

Broz (lower body) won't take part in Sunday's practice.

Broz logged 10:07 of ice time in Saturday's 3-1 preseason win over Buffalo. He is being evaluated after sustaining an injury in the contest. Broz notched 16 goals and 39 points in 47 regular-season outings for AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2025-26.

  • Bryan Rust RW | PIT

    Penguins' Bryan Rust: Being evaluated

Rust (upper body) is being evaluated and won't participate in Sunday's practice.

Rust sustained the injury in Saturday's 3-1 preseason win over Buffalo. He earned 29 goals, 65 points, 183 shots on net and 71 blocked shots in 72 appearances for Pittsburgh during the 2025-26 regular season. It's currently unclear if Rust will be available for Opening Night against Philadelphia on Wednesday.

  • Cal Petersen: Cut loose from PTO

Petersen was released from his professional tryout agreement with Washington on Sunday.

Petersen will report to AHL Hershey for some additional preseason action. He is currently a free agent, but he could land a minor-league deal with Washington's AHL affiliate if he impresses during training camp.

  • Carter Hart G | LV

Golden Knights' Carter Hart: Allows four in preseason finale

Hart stopped 12 of 16 shots in Saturday's 4-2 preseason loss to the Sharks.

Hart faced relatively little work compared to Askarov, but unlike the Golden Knights, the Sharks capitalized on their opportunities. Hart contributed offensively with a secondary assist on Tomas Hertl's second-period power-play goal, but he finished the night with a .750 save percentage as Vegas suffered its first preseason loss. Hart is slated to open the 2026-27 season as the Golden Knights' top-choice goaltender, beginning with the season opener against the Blackhawks on Opening Night.

  • Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Makes 27 saves in preseason finale

Askarov stopped 27 of 29 shots in Saturday's 4-2 preseason win over the Golden Knights.

Askarov was crucial in keeping the Sharks in the game even though the Golden Knights looked in control for much of the contest. He kept the Golden Knights scoreless in the first period and allowed only Tomas Hertl's power-play tally through 40 minutes despite facing 25 shots over the opening two frames. The 24-year-old will open the 2026-27 season as the Sharks' top-choice goaltender and will look to bounce back after a 2025-26 campaign in which he went 21-20-4 with a 3.63 GAA and a disappointing .883 save percentage over 47 regular-season appearances.

  • Sharks' Mason Marchment: Scores game-winner Saturday

Marchment recorded a goal on two shots and added an assist in Saturday's 4-2 preseason win over the Golden Knights.

Marchment picked up a secondary assist on Macklin Celebrini's second-period goal before delivering the decisive tally himself. With Vegas having erased a 2-0 deficit, Marchment beat Carter Hart at the 9:47 mark of the third period to restore San Jose's lead. Michael Misa added insurance just over five minutes later. Marchment also scored twice in Thursday's 10-0 win over Anaheim, giving the veteran winger a strong finish to his preseason. He figures to open the 2026-27 regular season on the first line and the second power-play unit.

  • Ilya Sorokin G | NYI

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Beaten four times in preseason loss

Sorokin stopped 22 of 26 shots in Saturday's 4-1 preseason loss to the Devils.

Sorokin faced considerably more pressure than Allen and surrendered all four goals during the opening two periods. Despite the final line, Sorokin made several difficult stops as the game progressed, including a third-period breakaway save on Jack Hughes. It was Sorokin's first full game of the preseason after splitting his previous appearance, and the Islanders finished exhibition play 1-3-0. Sorokin is slated to open the 2026-27 season as the No. 1 goaltender ahead of the season opener versus the Maple Leafs on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
