  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Shines in preseason finale

Lindgren stopped 32 of 33 shots before being replaced by Cal Petersen to begin the third period of Saturday's 5-1 preseason win over the Flyers.

The Capitals iced a lineup with virtually no NHL experience, but Lindgren was outstanding for 40 minutes and gave his young teammates the confidence to roar into the lead. Logan Thompson is the No. 1 in the crease for Washington, but Lindgren should steady work as his backup. Over 21 appearances last season, Lindgren went 9-8-3 with a 3.52 GAA and .879 save percentage.

  • Logan Cooley C | UTA

Mammoth's Logan Cooley: Fires home PP tally in preseason finale

Cooley scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 2-0 preseason win over the Avalanche.

The 22-year-old center wrapped up the scoring midway through the first period by tucking the puck past Scott Wedgewood from in close. Cooley has scored at least 20 goals in all three of his NHL campaigns so far, but if he can stay healthy this time around he could be headed for a breakout after potting 24 in only 54 regular-season contests in 2025-26.

  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Blanks Avs in preseason finale

Vejmelka turned aside all 25 shots he faced in Saturday's 2-0 preseason win over Colorado.

It was an impressive finish to the exhibition schedule for Vejmelka, although he was facing an Avalanche lineup missing stars like Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar. The 30-year-old netminder is coming off a breakout 2025-26 in which he went 38-20-3 over 64 regular-season appearances with a 2.75 GAA and .896 save percentage. Utah did bring in goalie prospect Sebastian Cossa this offseason to back him up, but Vejmelka figures to see a big workload once again as the team's clear No. 1.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Strong showing to end preseason

Wedgewood made 33 saves in Saturday's 2-0 preseason loss to the Mammoth.

The Avalanche couldn't solve Karel Vejmelka in the other crease, but Wedgewood did what he could to keep his team in the game after allowing two first-period goals, one on the power play. Wedgewood will split the workload in the Colorado crease with Mackenzie Blackwood once again after posting a 31-6-6 record in 45 regular-season appearances last season with a 2.02 GAA and .921 save percentage.

  • Kings' Mats Zuccarello: Three points against Ducks on Saturday

Zuccarello scored a power-play goal and added two even-strength assists in Saturday's 6-2 preseason win over Anaheim.

The 39-year-old winger joined the Kings on a one-year contract this summer, and Zuccarello showed the minor shoulder issue that was dealing with during training camp won't be an issue when the games start to count. He seems ticketed for a top-six role, giving Zuccarello a good chance of producing a sixth straight 50-point campaign.

  • Kings' Alex Turcotte: Three-point effort in preseason win

Turcotte scored two even-strength goals and added a power-play assist in Saturday's 6-2 preseason win over the Ducks.

All three points came in the third period as the Kings pulled away. Turcotte could be headed for a top-six role this season following the retirement of Anze Kopitar, but the 25-year-old center has yet to produce big numbers in the NHL, and he managed just three goals and 14 points in 62 regular-season games in 2025-26.

  • Kings' Drew Doughty: Three helpers in preseason finale

Doughty picked up three assists, one on the power play, in Saturday's 6-2 preseason win over the Ducks.

The 36-year-old blueliner had a hand in an Adrian Kempe tally in the first period and goals by Alex Turcotte and Erik Haula in the third. Doughty isn't the offensive force he once was and managed just one point in 2025-26 on the man advantage while ceding power-play time to Brandt Clarke last season, but he may still has something left in the tank in a more sheltered role.

  • Maple Leafs' Tyler Hopkins: Posts three points Saturday

Hopkins scored a goal on seven shots and added two assists in OHL Guelph's 5-1 win over Owen Sound on Saturday.

Hopkins is entering his fourth year in the OHL. He's already produced five points over two games since coming back from training camp with the Maple Leafs. Hopkins didn't stand out last year with 50 points in 56 regular-season appearances between Guelph and Kingston, but the Storm are looking like one of junior hockey's best teams on paper, so Hopkins should be able to see a bump in offense.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Not busy in preseason win

Kuemper stopped 17 shots in Saturday's 6-2 preseason win over the Ducks.

Anaheim took a 2-1 lead late in the first period on a Beckett Sennecke power-play tally, but Kuemper shut the door from there as Los Angeles took control. The 36-year-old netminder is coming off a disappointing campaign, going 19-14-15 in 50 appearances with a 2.78 GAA and .891 save percentage, and Kuemper could cede more work to backup Anton Forsberg this season if he can't regain his prior form.

  • Ducks' Beckett Sennecke: Wraps up productive preseason

Sennecke scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 6-2 preseason loss to the Kings.

The 20-year-old winger gave the Ducks a 2-1 lead late in the first period, snapping a shot past Darcy Kuemper from down low. It was Sennecke's fourth goal in two preseason appearances, giving him plenty of momentum heading into his second NHL campaign. Sennecke is coming off an impressive rookie year, racking up 23 goals and 60 points across 82 regular-season contests in 2025-26. He also added four goals and an assist in six playoff games.
