  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Getting third straight start

Fowler will guard the road crease in Tuesday's clash against the Blues. Fowler has been excellent to begin the 2026-27 campaign, as he's currently riding a five-game win streak. He'll be called upon for his third straight start in Tuesday's outing and has seemingly passed Jakub Dobes on the Habs' goalie depth chart. The 21-year-old Fowler currently has a 5-1-0 record, a 1.79 GAA, a shutout and a .924 save percentage across six appearances this season. He'll be matched up against the Blues on Tuesday, who were recently shut out by the Hurricanes. Fowler is an excellent start in all fantasy formats for Tuesday's clash.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Shines in Heritage Classic

Fowler stopped 33 of 34 shots in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Jets in the Heritage Classic. The outdoor lights weren't too bright for Fowler, who extended his winning streak to five games with a tight victory at Winnipeg's Princess Auto Stadium. This was his second start in a row allowing just one goal. He's quickly pushed Jakub Dobes into the backup role through strong play. Fowler is 5-1-0 with a 1.79 GAA and a .924 save percentage over six starts. He's the goalie of the future for the Canadiens, and it looks like the future is now. Montreal continues its road trip in St. Louis on Tuesday.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Strengthening grip on top job

Fowler stopped 20 of 21 shots in Friday's 4-1 win over the Blackhawks. This was Fowler's fourth straight win. The 21-year-old netminder had started three of the Canadiens' last five games in an alternating pattern with Jakub Dobes, who has struggled to start the year. Fowler is now 4-1-0 with a 1.94 GAA and a .910 save percentage over five starts. The Canadiens' road trip continues in Winnipeg on Sunday, and it'll be interesting to see if head coach Martin St. Louis continues to alternate goalies or opts to let Fowler run with the job a bit.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Starting against Chicago

Fowler will start Friday's road matchup against Chicago. Fowler is in the midst of a three-game winning streak, and he'll draw the start for just the second time in the Canadiens' last four games Friday as he's shared the crease with Jakub Dobes early in the year. Across his four appearances to begin the regular season, Fowler has gone 3-1-0 with a 2.16 GAA and .900 save percentage.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Makes 23 saves in overtime victory

Fowler stopped 23 of 26 shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Sabres. Fowler secured his second victory against Buffalo in five days despite posting a modest save percentage. The young netminder has now started four of Montreal's last five games, suggesting he's establishing himself as a significant part of the team's goaltending rotation, although the uptick in playing time is also driven by the absence of Sam Montembeault (lower body). His recent workload is encouraging for fantasy managers seeking starts and wins, although his performance Saturday highlights the potential volatility in his save percentage. He has a shutout in four outings, but in the other three, he's not posted a save percentage above .885.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Tending twine Saturday

Fowler will protect the home net against Buffalo on Saturday, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. Fowler is 2-1-0 in his first NHL outings this season, stopping 59 of 65 shots. He has both of his wins in shootouts. Buffalo (4-3-1) is tied for 17th in the league with 3.00 goals per game this campaign.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Hangs on for shootout win

Fowler turned aside 14 shots in regulation and overtime and one of two shootout attempts in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Sabres. The Canadiens took a 3-1 lead into the third period, but goals by Josh Norris and Olen Zellweger in a 61-second span early in the frame made the final outcome dicey. Fowler didn't have much to do once the horn sounded to end the third, however -- he didn't face a shot in OT, then watched Montreal's skaters go 3-for-3 in the shootout. The 21-year-old netminder has started three straight games since being called up from AHL Laval, going 2-1-0 with a 1.90 GAA and .908 save percentage, a marked improvement on Jakub Dobes' 4.43 GAA and .856 save percentage in his three starts. Habs coach Martin St. Louis may continue to ride the hot hand between the pipes, and if Fowler keeps playing well, the team could have some tough decisions to make when Sam Montembeault (lower body) is ready to return.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Facing Sabres Tuesday

Fowler will guard the home crease in Tuesday's clash against the Sabres, per Marc Antoine Godin of Radio-Canada. Fowler will look to stay hot after his 30-save shutout in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Red Wings. Entering Tuesday's matchup, the 21-year-old netminder has a 1-1-0 record, a 1.45 GAA and a .938 save percentage across 48 shots on net between two appearances. He should continue to see frequent appearances with Sam Montembeault (lower body) on injured reserve. Fowler will face off against a Sabres offense that has struggled to begin the new season with 2.67 goals per game, which makes him a solid start in fantasy.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Records shutout in SO victory

Fowler stopped all 30 shots he faced in Saturday's 1-0 shootout win over the Red Wings. Just like Daniil Tarasov, Fowler was perfect through regulation and overtime en route to posting a 30-save performance. The young netminder turned aside 20 even-strength shots and 10 power-play shots, and his excellent play allowed the Canadiens to earn the win in the shootout, as Zachary Bolduc eventually secured the victory with a sixth-round shootout goal. Fowler could continue to see playing time due to Sam Montembeault's lower-body injury.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Yields three goals Thursday

Fowler turned away 15 of 18 shots on net in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Predators. Fowler's first start of the 2026-27 regular season left some to be desired, but he performed better than the final score indicates due to a pair of empty-net tallies in the final moments of regulation. The 21-year-old netminder tended to a clean first period, a solid first 15 minutes of the second period, and a tidy first 16 and a half minutes of the third before he allowed the go-ahead goal. With Sam Montembeault (undisclosed) undergoing further testing to reveal the extent of his injury, Fowler projects to play a complementary role to Jakub Dobes for the time being. Fowler just missed out on making the Canadiens' Opening Night roster, so if he can impress while he's up from AHL Laval, he could cement his NHL roster spot moving forward.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Stops 16 of 18 shots Saturday

Fowler stopped 16 of 18 shots in Saturday's 4-2 preseason win over the Senators. Both goals against Fowler came on Ottawa power plays in the opening period. Philip Tomasino opened the scoring at 11:54 before Tyler Boucher restored the Senators' lead at 19:19, with Montreal answering each time to send the game into the first intermission tied 2-2. Fowler remained perfect through his second-period stretch before giving way to Sam Montembeault at 10:43, and the Canadiens scored twice in the third to secure the win. The Canadiens have a crowded situation between the pipes, but it seems Fowler will open the season as the No. 2 goaltender -- ahead of Montembeault but behind Jakub Dobes.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Starting at home

Fowler is set to start at home against Ottawa in Saturday's preseason game, per the NHL media site. Fowler had a 9-6-2 record, 2.43 GAA and .908 save percentage in 17 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Jakub Dobes is slated to begin the upcoming campaign as Montreal's No. 1 goaltender, while Fowler and Sam Montembeault might both make the team and pick up starts when Dobes needs a breather.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Makes playoff debut

Fowler allowed a goal on two shots in relief of Jakub Dobes in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Sabres in Game 6. Fowler hadn't appeared in a game since he backstopped a 4-1 win over the Islanders on April 12. The 21-year-old rookie played the last half of the third period, aside from a stretch where the Canadiens opted for an extra attacker before Tage Thompson's empty-net goal. Fowler could have been with AHL Laval during its playoff run, but he has stayed in the NHL instead as Dobes' backup. It's been Dobes' crease this postseason, as Fowler still has some work to do to be an NHL regular. Fowler should earn some starts for Montreal in 2026-27 after going 9-6-2 with a 2.43 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 17 regular-season outings this year.

  • Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Game 1 starter

Dobes will get the start in net Sunday for Game 1 against the Lightning, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports. Dobes will get the nod for the postseason opener over 21-year-old rookie Jacob Fowler and veteran Sam Montembeault. The 24-year-old Dobes finished the regular season with a 29-10-4 record, a 2.78 GAA and a .901 save percentage while leading Montreal's netminders with 43 games played. He enters the postseason in a bit of a slump, having allowed at least three goals in four of his last five starts. Dobes will have his hands full with the Lightning, who ranked fourth in the NHL at 3.49 goals per game in the regular season.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Strong outing vs. NYI

Fowler stopped 30 of 31 shots in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Islanders. Fowler delivered a strong showing across the board, with the lone goal he allowed coming midway through the third period when Montreal already had a three-goal lead. Fowler should remain as Montreal's No. 2 option between the pipes, so he's not likely to see action in the regular-season finale at Philadelphia on Tuesday. He owns a 9-6-2 record with a 2.43 GAA and .908 save percentage through 17 appearances this season, which are impressive numbers for a 21-year-old rookie.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Not starting after all

Contrary to a prior report, Fowler is not expected to be in goal against the Panthers on Tuesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. Lavoie is now reporting that Jakub Dobes was the first goaltender to leave the ice at the morning skate. With Fowler seemingly not being the starter for Tuesday's game, his next opportunity to tend the twine will be against Tampa Bay on Thursday.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: First off ice Tuesday

Fowler is scheduled to occupy the home crease Tuesday against the Panthers, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Fowler's three-game winning streak was snapped at the hands of the Devils on Sunday, as he conceded two goals on 19 shots in a 3-0 loss. The 21-year-old is the preferred No. 2 option for the Canadiens these days, as Sam Montembeault hasn't been in goal since March 6 in Anaheim. As for Tuesday's opponent, Florida sits 20th in the NHL with 2.92 goals per game this season.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: In goal against Rangers

Fowler will get the starting nod on the road versus the Rangers on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Fowler has looked fairly solid over his last four outings, going 3-1-0 with a 2.52 GAA. It seems the young backstop has replaced Sam Montembeault as the No. 2 option behind Jakub Dobes. With an upcoming back-to-back against the Devils on Saturday and Sunday, Fowler figures to get at least one more start down the stretch.
... See More ... See Less
  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Tagged with loss Sunday

Fowler stopped 24 of 28 shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Ducks. Fowler has dropped three of his past four starts while allowing at least three goals in each of those defeats. The 21-year-old is bound to experience some ups and downs, though, so he's more of a matchup-based option in fantasy. Jakub Dobes should remain as the clear-cut No. 1 option between the pipes in Montreal, but Sam Montembeault is also in the mix as a potential backup. That said, Montembeault hasn't played since March 6 and has made just two appearances since the Olympic break.

  • Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Defeats Senators

Fowler stopped 32 of 34 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Senators. Fowler made his first NHL appearance since Jan. 15 and delivered a good performance. He allowed a pair of goals to Drake Batherson late in the first period but didn't bend again, allowing the Canadiens to pull off the comeback win. Fowler improved to 5-4-2 with a 2.56 GAA and a .906 save percentage over his first 11 NHL contests. The 21-year-old could be in the mix for another start over the weekend if he stays on the Montreal roster -- he'd either face the Sharks on Saturday or the Ducks on Sunday in that case, though Jakub Dobes and Sam Montembeault are also in the mix.
