  • Ben Gleason D | DAL

    Benjamin Gleason: Released from PTO

Gleason has been released by Dallas from his professional tryout agreement, and he signed an AHL contract with Texas on Wednesday.

Gleason had two goals and 22 points in 59 regular-season appearances with AHL Iowa in 2025-26. As a free agent regarding NHL eligibility, the 28-year-old defenseman cannot be called up unless he signs a two-way contract.

  • Rangers' Spencer Martin: On waivers Wednesday

Martin will be waived by the Rangers on Wednesday, per Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic.

Martin had a 3.51 GAA and an .873 save percentage in 22 regular-season appearances with AHL Hartford in 2025-26. The 31-year-old is also a veteran of 72 career regular-season NHL outings, in which he's posted a 25-33-8 record, 3.60 GAA and .881 save percentage. Martin is expected to start the upcoming campaign in the minors if he clears waivers.

  • Rangers' Vincent Iorio: Considered day-to-day

The Rangers announced Wednesday that Iorio (lower body) is considered day-to-day, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.

Iorio suffered his lower-body injury during Monday's preseason loss to New Jersey, but he doesn't appear to be facing a long-term absence due to the issue. It's not yet clear whether he'll suit up for either of the Rangers' final two preseason games. However, he could be ready for the start of the regular season. Whether he'll begin the year in the NHL or AHL remains to be seen.

  • Adam Sykora LW | NYR

Rangers' Adam Sykora: Set for extended absence

Sykora (lower body) is expected to be out of action for 4-5 months, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports Wednesday.

Based on his timeline, Sykora will almost certainly be designated for non-roster injured reserve at the start of the year to free up a spot for the Rangers. Prior to getting hurt, the 22-year-old winger was facing an uphill battle to make the Opening Night roster. Now, with his extended stint on the shelf, Sykora will almost certainly start in the minors once given the all-clear.

  • Alex Ovechkin LW | WAS

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Briefly skates Wednesday

Ovechkin (lower body) skated for about 15 minutes before leaving Wednesday's practice session, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Ovechkin's status for Opening Night against the Hurricanes on Oct. 2 remains uncertain, though he still has plenty of time to get back to 100 percent. Playing in all 82 regular-season contests last year, the world-class winger notched 32 goals and 32 assists, including 19 power-play points.

  • Mammoth's Maveric Lamoureux: Injured Tuesday

Lamoureux sustained an apparent upper-body injury in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Kings, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports.

There was no update available on Lamoureux's status after the contest. The 22-year-old defenseman was likely on the fringe of the roster anyway, but if the injury is serious, his season debut for AHL Tucson may be delayed.

  • Brady Tkachuk LW | FLA

Panthers' Brady Tkachuk: Exits game for precautionary reasons

Tkachuk (undisclosed) left Tuesday's preseason game versus the Hurricanes for precautionary reasons, Rob Darragh of the Panthers' official site reports.

Head coach Paul Maurice said Tkachuk may be on the ice Wednesday, further suggesting the injury isn't a major concern. Tkachuk has already played in two preseason games, so he won't be eligible to suit up again until the regular-season opener next Tuesday against the Hurricanes.

  • Sabres' Mattias Samuelsson: Needs further evaluation

Samuelsson (undisclosed) was injured in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Blue Jackets, and he'll be evaluated further Wednesday, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports.

Samuelsson was injured on a blocked shot in the second period. The 26-year-old defenseman's status should be updated prior to Thursday's preseason contest against the Red Wings, but expect the Sabres to be cautious with Samuelsson prior to the regular season.

  • Sabres' Olen Zellweger: Suffers concussion

Zellweger sustained a concussion in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Blue Jackets, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports.

Zellweger will need to clear concussion protocol before he's able to get back into game action. The 23-year-old defenseman could now be at risk of missing the start of the season. If he ends up on injured reserve, Dennis Gilbert and/or Zach Metsa may begin the season with the Sabres.

  • Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Will start Tuesday

Kuemper will protect the home goal in Tuesday's preseason game versus the Mammoth, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.

Kuemper is coming off a down year in which he went 19-14-15 with a 2.78 GAA and an .891 save percentage over 50 regular-season games. The 36-year-old netminder has a loose grip on the No. 1 job in goal for the Kings, but he'll be pushed by Anton Forsberg early in the campaign.
