Matthew Savoie C | EDM
Oilers' Matt Savoie: Lights lamp in loss
Savoie scored a goal in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Penguins.
Savoie has scored two of the Oilers' last three goals over the last two games. The 22-year-old had gone 16 contests without a goal prior to this improved stretch of finishing. He's up to nine goals, 17 points, 68 shots on net, 25 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 52 appearances. Currently, Savoie is holding down a third-line role with ice time in all situations, so his recent burst of offense may be a short one.

Tristan Jarry G | EDM
Oilers' Tristan Jarry: Torched by former team
Jarry allowed six goals on 22 shots in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Penguins.
Jarry started in consecutive games for the first time since his lower-body injury. The results weren't good, as his former teammates had stretches of three goals in 37 seconds in the first period and two goals in 1:58 in the second. This was just his second regulation loss as an Oiler, but it was his worst game of the season. Between Edmonton and Pittsburgh, Jarry has a 13-5-2 record with a 2.78 GAA and a .901 save percentage over 21 outings. It wouldn't be surprising to see Connor Ingram get the nod Saturday versus the Capitals, but the Oilers' crease remains crowded with three goalies on the roster.

Jack St. Ivany D | PIT
Penguins' Jack St. Ivany: Two more assists in win
St. Ivany notched two assists, two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Oilers.
St. Ivany has logged back-to-back two-assist games. He helped out on tallies by Sidney Crosby and Yegor Chinakhov in this contest. St. Ivany is making a strong case to stay in the lineup once the Penguins' blue line is back to full strength -- the team is still missing Kris Letang (upper body) and Ryan Graves (lower body), though Erik Karlsson (lower body) returned Thursday. Over 16 contests, St. Ivany has seven helpers, 16 shots on net, 40 hits, 22 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating.

Justin Brazeau RW | PIT
Penguins' Justin Brazeau: Supplies pair of assists
Brazeau notched two assists in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Oilers.
Brazeau is warming up again with two goals and two assists over his last five outings. The 27-year-old set up both of Anthony Mantha's first-period tallies as the two have reconnected in a third-line role following their chemistry from earlier in the campaign. Brazeau is up to 14 goals, 10 assists, 66 shots on net, 44 hits, 21 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating through 36 games this season.

Yegor Chinakhov RW | PIT
Penguins' Yegor Chinakhov: Scores again in Thursday's win
Chinakhov scored a goal in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Oilers.
Even in the blowout win, Chinakhov saw a team-low 12:04 of ice time. He's also scored in four of the last eight games, but his usage remains limited despite his on-paper second-line role. Chinakhov is up to eight goals, 12 points, 56 shots on net, 35 hits and a minus-1 rating over 41 appearances between the Penguins and the Blue Jackets this season.

Rickard Rakell C | PIT
Penguins' Rickard Rakell: Buries goal in win
Rakell scored a goal on three shots and added two hits in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Oilers.
Rakell has three goals and two helpers during his five-game point streak. His tally Thursday extended the Penguins' lead to 4-1 in the second period. The versatile forward is up to nine goals, 22 points, 91 shots, 42 hits, 26 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 30 contests this season, mainly in a top-line role.

Sidney Crosby C | PIT
Penguins' Sidney Crosby: Finishes quick flurry of goals
Crosby scored a goal on two shots, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Oilers.
Crosby finished a stretch of three goals in 37 seconds during the early stages of the first period. The 38-year-old has three goals and five helpers during his active five-game point streak. Crosby is having a superb season for a player of any age, racking up 27 goals, 57 points, 118 shots on net, 34 PIM, 42 hits, 22 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 50 appearances. His shot volume is down a bit at 2.36 per game this season compared to 3.09 shots per game across the previous four campaigns combined, but he's made up for it by shooting 22.9 percent in 2025-26. That's a red flag for the long run, but Crosby's talent is likely enough to keep him productive for the remainder of this year.

Evgeni Malkin C | PIT
Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Two more points in win
Malkin scored a goal, added an assist and went plus-3 in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Oilers.
Malkin had a pair of points 1:58 apart in the second period as the Penguins found a second burst of offense to put the Oilers out of reach. This was Malkin's third multi-point effort in the last five games, a span in which he has two goals and five helpers. The 39-year-old forward is up to 12 goals, 39 points, 88 shots, 26 PIM and a plus-15 rating in 35 appearances this season.

Anthony Mantha RW | PIT
Penguins' Anthony Mantha: Tallies twice in win
Mantha scored two goals on three shots in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Oilers.
Mantha's goals came 22 seconds apart in the first period. He ended an 11-game goal drought with the effort. During the slump, he was limited to five assists, three of which had come over his previous four contests. The veteran winger is now at 16 goals, 34 points, 94 shots on net, 28 hits, 24 blocked shots, 15 PIM and a plus-8 rating over 50 appearances. He's on track for the first 50-point campaign of his career.

Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Riding four-game point streak
Caufield scored a goal in a 4-2 loss to the Sabres on Thursday.
Caufield scored for the fourth consecutive game. He has seven points (five goals, two assists) 14 shots during the streak. Caufield has 50 points, including 26 goals, across 51 games this season, and he has 149 shots and 17 power-play points (five PPG). He's on pace for his first 40-goal season.
