  • Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Third straight loss

Askarov made 16 saves in a 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday.

The Sharks were solid in the first period, but they slipped in the second and the wheels came off in the third. Askarov is talented, but goalies cannot do things on their own. The southpaw has lost three straight games. Overall, Askarov is 16-13-1 with a 3.51 GAA and an .890 save percentage.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Dialed in and dominating blue paint

Vasilevskiy made 22 saves Tuesday in a 4-1 win over San Jose.

The Big Cat is an impressive 10-0-1 in his last 11 starts. In his last five games, he has really dialed in his focus and allowed just seven goals. Vasilevskiy is 21-7-3 overall with a 2.18 GAA and a .917 save percentage. He's playing as good a game as he's ever delivered in an NHL uniform.

  • Lightning's Jake Guentzel: Second straight two-point game

Guentzel had a goal and an assist Tuesday in a 4-1 win over San Jose.

He has put up back-to-back two-point games (two goals, two assists). Guentzel fired just four shots in those two games, including only one Tuesday. He had 13 shots in his previous two games. Since the calendar flipped to 2026, Guentzel has 12 points (four goals, eight assists) and 25 shots in nine games. He also has one game-winning goal and four power-play points (one goal) in that span.

  • Lightning's Nikita Kucherov: League's second-best disher

Kucherov put up three helpers in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.

This guy knows how to dish. Kucherov sits second to Connor McDavid in assists (49) and third overall in scoring (73), behind Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid, who are tied with 85 points. There aren't enough superlatives to describe Kucherov and his impact on the Bolts and the league overall. All hail, Nikita.

  • Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Fifteen points in last 10 games

Hagel had two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over San Jose on Tuesday. He fired five shots.

Hagel has 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in his past 10 games, and he's on a modest three-game, five-point streak (three goals, two assists). Hagel sits third on the Bolts' scoring list this season with 46 points (25 goals, 21 assists). He leads the Bolts in goals and game-winning goals (six).

  • Jakub Dobes G | MON

Canadiens' Jakub Dobes: Third straight win

Dobes made 16 saves in a 4-3 win over the Wild on Tuesday.

It's Dobes' third straight win, although that's the extent of games he's played in January. Such was the peril of a three-headed goalie monster, but Jacob Fowler was returned to the AHL a few days ago. Dobes now has sole possession of the second seat, and he could be a solid daily play depending on the matchup. Overall, he's 15-5-3 with a 3.01 GAA and an .887 save percentage.

  • Cole Caufield RW | MON

Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Another clutch performance

Caufield scored a goal Tuesday in a 4-3 win over the Wild.

His one-timer with 15 seconds remaining in regulation sealed the win. Caufield is clutch -- he has 21 game-winning goals in the third period or overtime since he entered the league in 2020-21. Caufield has 25 goals, 24 assists, seven game-winning goals, 17 power-play points and 147 shots in 50 games this season. He sits third in team scoring behind Nick Suzuki (55) and Lane Hutson (52).

  • Ivan Demidov RW | MON

Canadiens' Ivan Demidov: Three-game, four-point streak

Demidov delivered two assists Tuesday in a 4-3 win over the Wild.

Demidov is on a three-game, four-point scoring streak that includes three assists, and he has seven points (one goal, six assists) in his last five contests. He has eight shots on his current streak and 12 shots in his last five contests. Demidov's 43 points (50 games) put him on top of the rookie scoring list, five points ahead of the second-place Beckett Sennecke, who has 38 points.

  • Lane Hutson D | MON

Canadiens' Lane Hutson: Three-game, seven-point streak

Hutson scored a goal and added an assist Tuesday in a 4-3 victory over Minnesota.

Hutson is on a three-game, seven-point scoring streak (one goal, six assists), and he sits second overall on the Canadiens with nine goals and 52 points (50 games). Last season, just three defenders finished the season with at least a point-per-game. Cale Makar led that charge, followed by Zach Werenski and Quinn Hughes. This season, only four are roaring along at a point-per-game pace: Werenksi, Makar, Hutson and Darren Raddysh.

  • Jordan Kyrou C | STL

Blues' Jordan Kyrou: Finally ends goal drought

Kyrou scored a power-play goal on three shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Jets.

This was Kyrou's first goal since Dec. 1 versus the Ducks. He picked up five assists over 13 appearances in that span, though he also missed nine games due to a lower-body injury. Kyrou is supposed to be better than this, but he's arguably worn the Blues' struggles this season more than most of the team's players. He's at nine goals, 21 points, 97 shots on net and a minus-9 rating across 40 appearances. It would take an improbably large surge of scoring for him to earn a fourth straight 30-goal campaign.
