That means that the sniper has just 10 goals in the next 33 games, and he hasn't had a multi-goal game since Nov. 8. At some point, Caufield is bound to explode with goals, although 33 games is a long time.

  • Nick Suzuki C | MON

Canadiens' Nick Suzuki: Among league's best power-play men

Suzuki had a goal and an assist in a 5-3 loss to Buffalo on Thursday.

Both points came on the power play, a place where he has tallied 25 of his 52 points, including nine goals. Suzuki excels at both ends of the ice, wears the C and puts up a lot of points. That makes him regular candidate for the Selke Trophy. Suzuki is in a three-way tie with Wyatt Johnston of the Stars and Kirill Kaprizov of the Wild for 13th overall in league scoring with 52 points (48 games). But more impressively, he's fourth overall in the NHL in power-play production with 25 points behind Connor McDavid (36), Leon Draisaitl (31) and Mikko Rantanen (26).

  • Colten Ellis G | BUF

Ellis is currently with the Sabres while Alex Lyon (lower body) is on injured reserve. He is 2-1-0 in three starts since he was summoned from the AHL. He has allowed eight goals in those three games. Lyon was on a seven-game winning streak before he got hurt, and he's about eight days into a 7-10 day absence. • Maple Leafs' William Nylander: Exits Thursday's game

Nylander (lower body) won't return to Thursday's game versus the Golden Knights.

Nylander had a goal and an assist in the first period prior to his exit. The 29-year-old forward has racked up seven points over his last four outings since returning from a previous lower-body issue, though it's unclear if the injury he sustained Thursday is related to that one. His status for Saturday's game against the Jets will be up in the air until more information is available.
