  • Josh Norris C | BUF

Sabres' Josh Norris: Dealing with rib issue

Norris took a cross-check to the ribs that knocked him out of Wednesday's game versus the Flyers, and he'll be evaluated Thursday prior to the Sabres' game against the Canadiens, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports.

This confirms Norris avoided a concussion as well as any additional damage to his shoulder, which has been a concern throughout his career. Norris is likely day-to-day at this point, though his evaluation Thursday will provide more information about his status.

  • Devon Levi G | BUF

Sabres' Devon Levi: Secures second shutout

Levi notched a 20-save shutout in AHL Rochester's 3-0 win over Syracuse on Wednesday.

Levi has two shutouts this season for the Americans. The 24-year-old netminder has a 13-7-4 record with a 2.81 GAA and a .905 save percentage through 24 appearances. He's collected four wins over his last nine outings and continues to have some consistency troubles for the farm team.

  • Brett Berard LW | NYR

Rangers' Brett Berard: Pots pair of goals

Berard scored twice in AHL Hartford's 3-2 overtime win over Hershey on Wednesday.

Berard has three goals and one assist over four outings since his most recent demotion from the NHL. That's a good stretch for the 23-year-old, who still has a modest 13 points with a minus-13 rating over 24 AHL appearances this season. He's been shuffled between leagues a few times, so a strong run of play with Hartford could get him back to Broadway.

  • Blues' Justin Carbonneau: Pots two goals Wednesday

Carbonneau scored twice in QMJHL Blainville-Boisbriand's 6-1 win over Cape Breton on Wednesday.

Carbonneau's consistency has dropped slightly in January, as he has three scoreless outings over six games this month. He has still earned four goals and two assists in that span, for a total of 32 goals, 49 points, 190 shots on net and a plus-9 rating over 36 appearances this season.

  • Joel Armia RW | LA

    Kings' Joel Armia: Remains out

Armia (upper body) won't play Wednesday versus the Golden Knights, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.

Armia is set to miss his fifth straight game. It's unclear if he'll be able to suit up for the team's weekend home-and-home versus the Ducks. With multiple other absences up front, the Kings are once again dressing seven defensemen to fill out their lineup.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Set to start Wednesday

Schmid will guard the road goal versus the Kings on Wednesday, Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period reports.

Schmid has won his last two outings, stopping 39 of 43 shots in those games. The 25-year-old netminder is temporarily in the No. 1 role for the Golden Knights while Adin Hill (lower body) wraps up his recovery. The Kings have won just one of their last four games, scoring eight goals in that span.

  • Josh Norris C | BUF

Sabres' Josh Norris: Sustains upper-body injury

Norris (upper body) won't return to Wednesday's game versus the Flyers.

Norris was hurt in the second period, though he was able to pick up an assist before his exit. With a lack of additional details, it's fair to be concerned about Norris' status, given his lengthy history of injuries, particularly of the upper-body variety. It's unclear if he'll be able to suit up in Thursday's game versus the Canadiens.

  • Dan Vladar G | PHI

Flyers' Dan Vladar: Leaves Wednesday's game

Vladar sustained an undisclosed injury Wednesday versus the Sabres and will be evaluated after the game.

Vladar's injury occurred at some point in the first period. He allowed two goals on five shots prior to his exit, and Samuel Ersson took over in goal. If Vladar misses additional time, expect Aleksei Kolosov to get called up from AHL Lehigh Valley.

  • Flyers' Rasmus Ristolainen: Sitting out Wednesday

Ristolainen (upper body) will not play Wednesday versus the Sabres.

Ristolainen is considered day-to-day but will be out for the first half of a back-to-back. The 31-year-old defenseman should be considered questionable at best for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh. Noah Juulsen will stay in the lineup with Ristolainen's absence, while Jamie Drysdale (upper body) will check into a top-four role.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Guarding goal Wednesday

Luukkonen will protect the home goal versus the Flyers on Wednesday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.

Luukkonen has won five of his last six outings, allowing just 13 goals on 186 shots in that span. The 26-year-old netminder has taken over as the Sabres' top goalie with his recent run of success. The Flyers have lost their last three games, scoring just four goals in that span, so this is a good matchup for Luukkonen.
