  • Stars' Casey DeSmith: Snaps five-game losing streak

DeSmith made 22 saves on 27 shots in a 6-5 win over Toronto on Monday.

The game was a see-saw affair, with the Maple Leafs up 3-0 heading into the first intermission and 5-2 early in the third after two goals in a 2:39 span early in the final frame. DeSmith ended a personal five-game losing streak (0-4-1). Dallas plays in Buffalo on Wednesday, and Jake Oettinger could get a rest heading into the postseason. That means DeSmith would be the first man off the ice at the game-day skate.

  • Stars' Wyatt Johnston: Game grows from great to elite

Johnston scored a goal in Monday's 6-5 win over Toronto.

Johnston has had an outstanding season -- the goal was his 45th snipe and 86th point of the year (81 games). Johnston is on a four-game, six-point scoring streak. It includes four goals and two assists (13 shots). He's the top scorer from the 2021 Entry Draft. Johnston has 134 goals, 129 assists (263 points) in 327 games. Not bad for the 23rd overall pick.

  • Matt Duchene C | DAL

Stars' Matt Duchene: Five assists in last two games

Duchene picked up three assists in a 6-5 win over Toronto on Monday.

Duchene has five assists in his last two games and 45 points (16 goals, 29 assists) in 56 games overall. He has 933 points (387 goals, 549 assists) in 1,193 career NHL games. Duchene is the second-highest scorer from the 2009 Entry Draft, behind John Tavares (1,184 points in 1,264 games). He and the Stars face the Wild to open the playoffs.

  • Stars' Jason Robertson: Goal and point streak at four games

Robertson scored a goal and added an assist Monday in a 6-5 win over the Maple Leafs.

Robertson extended his goal and point streak to four games (five goals, two assists). He has 15 shots in that span. Robertson has 45 goals, 51 assists and 293 shots in 81 games. Forty-one of his points have come on the power play. The Stars have one game remaining this week, but they know who they are facing in the first round of the postseason. Robertson could get a rest, which hurts those of you in formats that go right to the final day of the season.

  • Stars' Mavrik Bourque: First NHL hat trick

Bourque scored a hat trick Monday in a 6-5 win over Toronto. He also had an assist.

Bourque's third tally put the Stars ahead for good at 14:52 of the third period. He's the fifth player in Stars history to score at least three goals and four points on the road, and the first since Wyatt Johnston had five points (three goals, two assists) in a 7-6 overtime win in San Jose on March 5, 2024. Bourque has 19 goals, 21 assists and 146 shots in 81 games in his second full season in the NHL.

  • David Perron LW | DET

Red Wings' David Perron: Goals in back-to-back games

Perron scored a goal Monday in a 4-3 overtime loss to Tampa Bay.

Perron has scored in two straight games, but he has just three goals in 15 games since his arrival from Ottawa on March 5. He had previously played in Detroit from 2022-24 and was viewed as a veteran who could help get them to the postseason. The 37-year-old Perron's contract expires at the end of 2025-26. He may still have something in the tank -- he had 25 points in 49 games in Ottawa prior to the deal.

  • Alex DeBrincat RW | DET

Red Wings' Alex DeBrincat: Post-Olympic production not enough

DeBrincat scored a goal Monday in a 4-3 overtime loss to Tampa Bay.

DeBrincat's goal tied the game late in the third period and forced overtime. Linemate Patrick Kane stole the puck at the defensive blue line and they took off on a 2-on-0. He almost beat Andrei Vasilevskiy on a partial breakaway in overtime, right before the play turned and the Bolts scored the winner. DeBrincat turned his Team USA Olympic snub into a post-Games offensive outburst, but it wasn't enough to lift the Red Wings into the postseason. He has 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists) over his last 23 games.

  • Marco Kasper C | DET

Red Wings' Marco Kasper: Rare goal in tough sophomore season

Kaspar scored a goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to Tampa Bay on Monday.

It was a backhander from the edge of the crease; it was his ninth snipe of the season (10 assists, 129 shots; 80 games). Kasper took a huge step backward in 2025-26. Last year, he had 19 goals, 18 assists and 145 shots. Kasper has one more year on his entry-level contract, and he will need to prove he can be the top-six pivot the team hoped they were drafting in 2022.

  • Cam Talbot G | DET

Red Wings' Cam Talbot: Loses in OT as contract nears end

Talbot made 18 saves on 22 shots Monday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Lightning.

Talbot is 12-9-6 with a 3.10 GAA and .886 save percentage in 25 starts (33 appearances) this season. He's 43rd overall in GAA and 45th in save percentage. Talbot's contract expires at the end of the season, and at 38, his options are limited. Detroit's Sebastian Cossa has had a very strong season in Grand Rapids -- he's 26-8-4 with a 2.28 GAA and .917 save percentage, so the Red Wings are far more likely to elevate him than re-sign Talbot. The 2025-26 season was touted as his possible last year prior to Opening Night.

  • Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Rings up 39th win of season

Vasilevskiy made 27 saves on 30 shots in a 4-3 overtime win over Detroit on Monday.

The Big Cat deserves a rest Wednesday against the Rangers to prep for the postseason, but Jonas Johansson (undisclosed) sat out Monday's game. That meant the Lightning had to roll with their Emergency Back Up Goalie (EBUG) in the number two spot. Brandon Halverson, who is 24-11-6 with six shutouts, 2.39 GAA and .906 save percentage with AHL Syracuse this season could get the call-up for Wednesday. The win was Vasilevskiy's 39th of the season. It's the third time in his career that he's hit exactly 39 wins and fourth time that he's delivered at least that many wins.
