Jimmy Vesey LW | NYR
Rangers' Jimmy Vesey: Scores early goal in loss
Vesey scored a goal on three shots during Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Hurricanes.
Vesey scored his first goal in over a month by finding the net 17 seconds into Sunday's matchup, but that was the only offensive production that the Rangers mustered against Pyotr Kochetkov. Vesey was on the ice for just 8:00 against the Hurricanes and has had an inconsistent role lately, as he was a healthy scratch in five of the Rangers' nine games leading up to Sunday's matchup. Despite his goal against Carolina, the 31-year-old's fantasy value remains limited, especially considering he's struggled to stay in the lineup on a regular basis.

Adrian Kempe RW | LA
Kings' Adrian Kempe: Generates power-play assist
Kempe logged a power-play assist and went minus-2 in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.
Kempe had been held off the scoresheet in the previous two contests, just his third multi-game drought of the year. The 28-year-old set up Kevin Fiala's game-tying goal in the second period, but that was all the Kings could produce against Logan Thompson. Kempe has eight points over nine games in December and a total of 16 goals, 16 assists, six power-play points, 93 shots on net, 39 hits and a plus-17 rating through 34 appearances this year.

Kevin Fiala LW | LA
Kings' Kevin Fiala: Nets lone goal on power play
Fiala scored a power-play goal on four shots and added two PIM in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.
Fiala giveth and Fiala taketh away -- his tally tied the game at 1-1 on the Kings' lone power play of the game. However, he committed their only penalty as well, and the Capitals were able to cash in for the game-winning goal. Through nine outings in December, Fiala has four goals, one assist and 28 shots on net. The talented winger is up to 21 points (11 on the power play) with 91 shots on net, 26 PIM and a minus-9 rating over 33 appearances, mainly in a middle-six role.

David Rittich G | LA
Kings' David Rittich: Takes loss versus Capitals
Rittich allowed two goals on 20 shots in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals. The third goal was an empty-netter.
Rittich put forth a decent effort but didn't get enough goal support. He has lost two of his three outings in December, giving up seven goals on 74 shots in those games. Rittich is down to a 10-8-0 record with a 2.46 GAA and an .891 save percentage through 19 appearances as the Kings' defensive structure continues to limit the shots he faces. The Kings return to action with a back-to-back after the holiday break, hosting the Oilers on Saturday and the Flyers on Sunday, so Darcy Kuemper and Rittich can be expected to split those starts.

Jack Roslovic C | CAR
Hurricanes' Jack Roslovic: Scores game-winning goal
Roslovic scored the game-winning goal while adding four hits in 12:16 of ice time during Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.
Roslovic has cooled off since a hot start to the season that saw him rack up nine goals and 10 points over the first 12 games, as he's now logged just two goals and two assists over eight appearances in December. However, the 27-year-old recorded his second game-winning goal of the season Sunday and has now gotten on the scoresheet in two of the last three matchups. Roslovic had a fourth-line role in recent appearances, but it was encouraging to see him reclaim a spot on the top line against the Rangers. Although Roslovic's production has become more inconsistent as the season has progressed, he continues to see regular time on the power play and could see his fantasy upside grow if he can stay on the top line.

Connor McMichael C | WAS
Capitals' Connor McMichael: Contributes helper Sunday
McMichael logged an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Kings.
McMichael has gone 10 games without a multi-point effort, but he has three goals and three assists in that span. The 23-year-old helped out on the first of Aliaksei Protas' two goals in this contest. McMichael is up to 16 goals, 13 helpers, 92 shots on net and a plus-12 rating over 33 appearances in 2024-25. It's a strong pace, though his 17.4 shooting percentage is likely to dip, but McMichael is established as a key part of the Capitals' top six now.
-
Pierre-Luc Dubois LW | WAS
Capitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Two assists versus former team
Dubois notched two assists, including one on the power play, added two hits and went plus-2 in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Kings.
After a lackluster 2023-24 as a member of the Kings, it had to feel good for Dubois to have a good performance against his former team. It's part of a larger run of success for the second-line center, who has racked up three goals and eight helpers over his last 10 outings. Dubois is up to 25 points, 50 shots on net, 32 hits, 29 blocked shots and a plus-10 rating through 33 appearances in 2024-25, putting him on pace to cruise past the 40-point effort he put forth in 82 regular-season games a year ago.
-
Jakub Vrana C | WAS
Capitals' Jakub Vrana: Finds twine on power play
Vrana scored a power-play goal in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Kings.
Vrana has gotten on the scoresheet in three straight games. He's in the lineup because Lars Eller (illness) is on injured reserve, and Vrana has made the most of his opportunity after being scratched for 10 games between Nov. 23 and Dec. 14. The winger is at six goals, 10 points, 22 shots on net, 10 hits and a plus-5 rating through 20 appearances this season.
-
Alexei Protas C | WAS
Capitals' Aliaksei Protas: Scores twice Sunday
Protas scored two goals on four shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Kings.
Protas opened and closed the scoring Sunday. His first goal came midway through the first period, and he added an empty-netter in the final minute of the third to finish off the win. The 23-year-old has six goals and two assists over nine outings in December as he continues to maintain a top-six spot with little power-play time. Protas has matched his career high with 29 points, doing so in just 33 games this year compared to 78 appearances in 2023-24. He's added 63 shots on net and a plus-18 rating.
-
Logan Thompson G | WAS
Capitals' Logan Thompson: Excellent in win
Thompson stopped 25 of 26 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Kings.
Thompson gave up a power-play goal to Kevin Fiala in the second period, but that was it. This was Thompson's fifth win over his last seven starts, and he's allowed two goals or fewer in five of those games. For the year, he's at a 13-2-2 record with a 2.40 GAA and a .914 save percentage over 17 starts. Charlie Lindgren is likely to get the start in Boston on Monday. Thompson will either go Saturday in Toronto or Sunday in Detroit, and it's likely the Capitals will continue to alternate goalies following the holiday break.
