  • Canadiens' Alexandre Texier: Playing for France

Texier (lower body) will be in the lineup for France against Switzerland on Thursday at the 2026 Olympics.

Texier is the lone NHL player on Team France, and his status was questionable heading into the Olympics, as he had missed the last three games with the injury. Texier has seven goals and 11 assists across 38 NHL games this season, split between Montreal and St. Louis.

  • Blues' Lukas Fischer: Earns two points in OHL win

Fischer scored a goal and added an assist in OHL Sault Ste. Marie's 4-2 win over Sudbury on Wednesday.

Fischer has racked up 19 points in 23 appearances with the Greyhounds since a Dec. 8 trade from Sarnia. Overall, the defenseman has put together a pretty steady season with seven goals, 37 points, a plus-6 rating and 98 shots on net over 49 outings. Fischer, a second-round pick of the Blues in 2024, has the potential to be a depth defenseman as a professional.

  • Ivan Ryabkin C | CAR

Hurricanes' Ivan Ryabkin: Two of each Wednesday

Ryabkin scored twice and added two assists in QMJHL Charlottetown's 6-3 win over Shawinigan on Wednesday.

Ryabkin has earned four multi-point efforts over eight contests since joining Charlottetown in mid-January. He earned his first multi-goal game, and he's up to five tallies and 10 assists so far. The Hurricanes prospect is likely to be a steady scorer for the remainder of the QMJHL campaign.

  • Blues' Dalibor Dvorsky: Scores game-winning goal

Dvorsky scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Slovakia's 4-1 win over Finland on Wednesday in the preliminary round of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

He scored a goal at the 7:20 mark of the third period before picking up an assist on Juraj Slafkovsky's power-play tally. The 20-year-old Dvorsky should continue to see plenty of ice time for a Slovakian team that is off to a great start at the tournament. The Slovaks face Italy on Friday.

  • Canadiens' Juraj Slafkovsky: Powers Slovak offense in victory

Slafkovsky scored two goals, including one on the power play, and added an assist in Slovakia's 4-1 win over Finland on Wednesday at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The Canadiens winger carried the Slovakian team offensively to a huge win with his multi-point performance. He opened the scoring with a move around Juuse Saros in the first period at the 7:45 mark, and then gave Slovakia a 3-1 lead with a rocket shot from long range with 9:30 left in the contest. Slafkovsky has nine goals through his first eight Olympic games. Slovakia will face Italy on Friday in the second game of the tournament for both squads.

  • Wild's Samuel Hlavaj: Shines in Olympic debut

Hlavaj stopped 39 of 40 shots in Slovakia's 4-1 win over Finland on Wednesday in the preliminary round of the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Hlavaj had the daunting task of facing a talented Finnish roster, but he was up for the challenge. He made 18 saves on 18 shots in the first period. The 24-year-old will probably get another chance to play in Slovakia's second game of the tournament against Italy on Friday.

  • Juuse Saros G | NSH

Predators' Juuse Saros: Gives up three in Olympic debut

Saros stopped 21 of 24 shots in Finland's 4-1 loss to Slovakia on Wednesday in the preliminary round of the 2026 Winter Olympics. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Saros was beaten twice by Juraj Slafkovsky and once by Dalibor Dvorsky before Adam Ruzicka closed things out late in the third with an empty-netter. Joonas Korpisalo and Kevin Lankinen are the other goalies on the Finnish roster, with their next game coming against Sweden on Friday.

  • Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Expected to start Wednesday

Contrary to a previous report, Gustavsson is expected to start for Sweden against Italy on Wednesday at the 2026 Winter Olympics, per Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press.

Jacob Markstrom initially looked like he would get the start, but it now seems he'll serve as the understudy. Gustavsson has a 20-9-6 record, 2.64 GAA and .906 save percentage in 36 outings with Minnesota in 2025-26. The 27-year-old Gustavsson will face the host nation. However, Italy doesn't have any players presently on NHL rosters and is a heavy underdog going into this match.

  • Devils' Jacob Markstrom: Not starting after all

Markstrom won't start for Sweden during Wednesday's game against Italy at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.

A previous report indicated that Markstrom would draw the start during Wednesday's tournament opener, but Filip Gustavsson will ultimately tend the twine against the host nation. Markstrom will still dress as the backup goaltender, and it's possible that he sees some playing time if the score gets out of hand.

  • Wild's Jesper Wallstedt: Won't play Wednesday

Wallstedt (illness) won't be in the lineup for Team Sweden's game against Italy on Wednesday at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Wallstedt missed Minnesota's 6-5 overtime win over Nashville last Wednesday. However, he was available for Sweden for the start of the Olympics, according to Bill Price of NHL.com. Wallstedt has a 14-5-4 record, 2.72 GAA and .913 save percentage in 23 outings with the Wild in 2025-26. Filip Gustavsson is set to start for Sweden on Wednesday.
