1B/OF Lance Berkman: Announced his retirement after years of knee problems.
TRADES
Royals: Acquired OF Carlos Peguero from the Mariners for cash considerations, the team announced.
FREE AGENT SIGNINGS
Angels: Signed 1B/3B Chad Tracy to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.
Mariners: Signed RHP Scott Baker to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. He will earn a $1 million base salary if he makes the team, and the deal includes incentives worth another $3.25 million. (MLB Daily Dish)
Orioles: Signed UTIL Chad Tracy to a minor league deal. He is the son of former Dodgers and Rockies manager Jim Tracy but no relation to the player who signed with the Angels.
Reds: Signed IF Ramon Santiago to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. (Jon Heyman)
Twins: Signed RHP Matt Guerrier to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, the team announced.
AVOIDED ARBITRATION
Cardinals: Signed IF Daniel Descalso to a one-year contract worth $1.29 million, plus performance bonuses. (Fox Sports)

WAIVER CLAIMS
Rangers: Claimed LHP Pedro Figueroa off waivers from the Rays, the team announced.

Royals: Designated RHP Everett Teaford for assignment, the team announced. The move clears a roster spot for Peguero.
