Marquis, 33, was 2-4 with a 8.47 ERA in seven starts for the Twins this season. He signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Twins this past offseason. Marquis was designated for assignment last week.
Last year Marquis went 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA in 20 starts with the Nationals before being traded to Arizona, where he struggled in his three starts with the Diamondbacks. In parts of 13 seasons, Marquis is 106-102 with a 4.63 ERA and a 1.444 WHIP. He was named to the National League All-Star team in 2009 as a member of the Rockies. He went 15-13 with a 4.04 ERA in his only year in Colorado.
