RUMORS & TRANSACTIONS

Angels: Owner Arte Moreno remains adamant the team will not cross the $189 million luxury tax threshold next season. The team already has $140 million in contract commitments on the books for 2015. (Fox Sports)

Astros: May still be able to sign first overall pick LHP Brady Aiken even though the signing deadline passed last month.

Blue Jays: Designated RHP Sergio Santos for assignment, the team announced. RHP Chad Jenkins was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Dodgers: Do not seem to have serious interest in Mets RHP Bartolo Colon. (Peter Gammons)

Red Sox: OF Rusney Castillo has obtained his work visa and will soon begin playing in minor league games. (ESPN Boston)

Cubs: Placed OF Justin Ruggiano (ankle) and OF Ryan Sweeney (hamstring) on the 15-day DL, the team announced.

Dodgers: OF Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday's game with a mild right ankle sprain, the team announced. X-rays came back negative ... 3B Juan Uribe (hamstring) is likely to be activated when eligible on Saturday (MLB.com) ... LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (glute) threw a two-inning simulated and will likely be activated early next week. (MLB.com)

Diamondbacks: LHP Patrick Corbin (Tommy John surgery) may not return until May or June of next year.
