Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Takes fifth straight loss
Gallardo (8-8) pitched 4.1 innings and took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three in the loss to Seattle.
The 2018 season couldn't have ended soon enough for Gallardo, who registered an abysmal 6.39 ERA and 58:47 K:BB across 94.1 innings this year. The 32-year-old ended the year on a five-start losing streak, allowing 19 runs in 21 innings during that span. Looking to 2019, Gallardo's best chance of securing a regular 25-man roster spot will likely be in a relief role.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Takes seventh loss
Gallardo (8-7) took the loss Tuesday, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two over 5.1 innings against the Angels.
Gallardo was dealing through the first five frames, but he was ultimately charged with the loss after seeing the bullpen allow both of its inherited runners to come around to score in the sixth inning. He's taken the loss in four straight starts and now sports a bloated 6.40 ERA and middling 55:46 K:BB over 90 innings. He'll face Seattle in the regular-season finale Sunday.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Takes loss against the Rays
Gallardo (8-6) allowed three runs on eight hits in a loss to the Rays on Tuesday, recording three strikeouts and three walks in five innings.
Gallardo was in the unfortunate position of being matched up against Blake Snell. He threw three scoreless innings before giving up a three-spot in the fourth, but the Rangers couldn't get anything going against Snell and the Rays' bullpen. In 19 appearances (16 starts) this season Gallardo has a 6.59 ERA and 1.67 WHIP to go with a poor 53:43 K:BB in 84.2 innings. He's slated to take on the Angels in his next start in Los Angeles.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Loses second straight Wednesday
Gallardo (8-5) allowed six runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four over three innings and was tagged with the loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
Four of the six hits allowed went for extra bases, including a two-run home run by rookie Jose Fernandez, which essentially ended Gallardo's night. Remember when Gallardo was 7-1 over his first nine starts in a Rangers uniform? That stretch was fueled by unsustainable run support, and his results have gone in the opposite direction since. He's lost four of his last five decisions and resembles a pitcher with a 5.94 ERA. He's next scheduled to face Tampa Bay at home Tuesday.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Suffers loss Friday
Gallardo (8-4) took the loss against the Athletics on Friday, allowing five earned runs on six hits and five walks over 4.1 innings. He recorded three strikeouts.
It was another uninspiring outing for Gallardo, as he's now allowed multiple earned runs in seven straight starts. He owns a 6.22 ERA and 46:39 K:BB ratio over 76.2 innings this season and doesn't merit much fantasy consideration, even in deeper leagues. His next start is planned for Wednesday on the road against the Angels.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Records eighth win
Gallardo (8-3) allowed three earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out one across five innings to earn the win Saturday against the Twins.
Gallardo wasn't dominant but limited his mistakes and took advantage of a subpar Twins lineup. While he has just 5.35 K/9, Gallardo has managed to limit runs effectively, posting a 4.07 ERA across 42 post-break innings. He'll be tested in his next start, which will come Friday at Oakland.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Allows three runs in loss
Gallardo (7-3) pitched five innings Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks in the 3-1 loss to the Giants. He struck out three and took the loss.
Gallardo wasn't at his best, but his offense didn't do him any favors either. The 32-year-old now owns an unsightly 6.01 ERA despite his 7-3 record after dropping two of his last three outings. Gallardo will carry a 42:33 K:BB into next Sunday's start against the Twins.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Pitches well in no-decision
Gallardo allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Sunday.
Gallardo was as good as he's been in any outing this season but didn't get the run support that typically shows up for him. He entered the game with a 10.65 run support average in his starts since June 23 -- the highest in the majors during that span. His next start depends on a few factors: the health of Bartolo Colon (back) and Mike Minor (back), whether manager Jeff Banister plans on sticking with the six-man rotation, and how the manager wants to use Thursday's off-day. Gallardo is expected to pitch one of the weekend games in San Francisco.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Gets start Sunday
Gallardo will start Sunday's game against the Angels.
The Rangers initially intended to start Bartolo Colon in the series finale, but those plans were scrapped after the latter experienced back stiffness. Since the Rangers have been running out a six-man rotation lately, Gallardo will be available to take the hill on four days' rest, which likely means that he won't face any restrictions with his pitch count.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Allows four runs in loss to Diamondbacks
Gallardo (7-2) allowed four runs in six hits and three walks across 3.1 innings Tuesday while taking the loss against the Diamondbacks. He recorded one strikeout.
Gallardo gave up a solo home run in the first inning before allowing a run on two hits in the second. He cruised through the third inning but was pulled in a two-run fourth after allowing four straight batters to reach. Gallardo had won each of his previous four outings and was coming off a quality start versus Seattle, but this dud performance was a reminder that the veteran still owns a 6.39 ERA on the season. His next start should come next week against the Athletics.

Rangers' Yovani Gallardo: Notches fourth straight win
Gallardo (7-1) picked up the win Wednesday against the Mariners, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks through six innings. He struck out two.
It was a nice bounce-back effort from Gallardo after the veteran allowed five runs in 5.1 innings his last time out (though he still picked up the win). The 32-year-old now owns a solid 2.78 ERA across his last four outings, all of which have been victories. He's still walking too many hitters -- 5.16 BB/9 over that four-start stretch -- so it wouldn't be surprising to see him pitch to something close to his season ERA (6.11) moving forward. His next outing will come Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.
