  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Getting breather

Realmuto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

After a recent five-game absence due to a knee injury, Realmuto had started at catcher in each of the Phillies' ensuing five games while going 4-for-18 with two doubles, two RBI and one run. Realmuto appears to be getting a routine maintenance day Wednesday.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Catching Friday

Realmuto (knee) is catching and batting fifth Friday against the Mets.

Realmuto hasn't played since Sept. 6 after fouling a ball off his left knee and suffering a contusion. Before the injury, Realmuto had gone 6-for-13 with a homer and a stolen base during a brief four-game hitting streak.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Expected back Friday

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that he expects Realmuto (knee) to return to the lineup Friday versus the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Realmuto remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Rays and will end up getting a full week off as he recovers from a left knee contusion, an injury that he suffered when he fouled a ball off himself last Friday in Miami. Fortunately for Realmuto, follow-up tests revealed no structural damage to the knee, but the Phillies will continue to hold him out for a couple more days while he waits for the swelling to calm down. Garrett Stubbs and Aramis Garcia have been holding down the fort at catcher while Realmuto has been out of action.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Aiming to return to action Friday

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Monday that Realmuto (knee) could be ready to play by the start of the team's series against the Mets on Friday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Realmuto will miss a third straight start Monday against the Rays while he deals with a left knee contusion. Thomson noted that the catcher is still dealing with swelling and fluid in the knee, which will prevent him from catching a bullpen session Monday as originally planned. The hope is that Realmuto will be able to test out the knee by catching a bullpen session Tuesday, but that doesn't seem to be a given, as the club monitors his status on a day-to-day basis. Garrett Stubbs will start at catcher for the Phillies on Monday, and he and Aramis Garcia will likely continue to spilt work behind the dish during the team's three-game series with Tampa Bay.

Realmuto (knee) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

Realmuto will miss out on a third consecutive start while he remains day-to-day with a left knee contusion, which stemmed from a fouling a ball off himself in the second inning of Friday's 16-2 win over the Marlins. Garrett Stubbs will get a turn behind the plate Monday in place of Realmuto.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Not in Sunday's lineup

Realmuto (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

The 33-year-old said Sunday his bruised left knee is feeling much better and that he could rejoin the lineup in a day or two, per Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer, but he's sitting for the second straight day. Aramis Garcia will receive the start behind the plate, and Realmuto should continue to be considered day-to-day.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Sitting down Saturday

Realmuto (knee) isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Marlins.

Realmuto was taken out of Friday's contest after he fouled a ball off his left knee in the second inning. The team hasn't indicated that the 33-year-old will need to spend time on the injured list, though the issue is apparently severe enough to warrant a day off Saturday. Garrett Stubbs will catch for starting pitcher Aaron Nola.

  • Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Exits with knee issue

Realmuto (knee) exited Friday's game against the Marlins, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The severity of the issue is unclear, but the Phillies will likely be cautious with the 33-year-old catcher given their big lead in the NL East.

Realmuto went 3-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBI in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Royals.

Realmuto had a pair of three-run homers to turn the game into a romp for the Phillies, and he added his seventh RBI on a groundout in the ninth inning. The catcher had hit just one homer over his previous 34 contests, so this was a breakout game a long time in the making. He's batting .277 (18-for-65) in August and is now up to a .262/.320/.413 slash line with 10 homers, 36 RBI, 40 runs scored and one stolen base over 76 games this year.
