Tyler Cloyd: Cut loose by Seattle
Cloyd was released by the Mariners on Monday, Mike Curto of the Tacoma Rainiers broadcast booth reports.
Cloyd inked a minor-league deal with Seattle at the end of April, but he struggled to a 7.43 ERA and 1.87 WHIP with 69 punchouts over 66.2 innings while with the Rainiers. As a result, the veteran right-hander will head to the open market.

Cloyd has latched on with the Mariners after being cut loose by the Rays earlier in the month. The right-hander will report to Triple-A Tacoma, where he is scheduled to start Thursday. Cloyd owns a career 6.35 ERA and 1.65 WHIP across parts of four big-league seasons (112 innings).

Tyler Cloyd: Let go by Tampa Bay
The Rays recently released Cloyd, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Cloyd attended the Rays' big-league camp as a non-roster invitee but was never a serious candidate to secure an Opening Day gig. Tampa Bay apparently wasn't keen on keeping Cloyd around as a depth arm at Triple-A Durham either, prompting the organization to part ways with him.

Rays' Tyler Cloyd: Joins Tampa for spring camp
Cloyd agreed Monday with the Rays on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
After his development as a starter with the Phillies stalled out earlier in his career, Cloyd headed to Korea in 2015 and returned stateside as a reliever the following season. He broke back into the big leagues with the Mariners in 2017 before splitting the past campaign between Triple-A New Orleans and the majors in the Marlins organization. Cloyd will get a chance to compete for a mop-up role out of the Tampa Bay bullpen this spring but will most likely wind up as organizational depth in the high minors.

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Optioned back to minors
Cloyd was sent down to Triple-A New Orleans on Thursday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
In a corresponding move, the club officially recalled Trevor Richards for his start against St. Louis on Thursday. Over seven appearances with the Marlins this season, Cloyd has logged a disastrous 8.66 ERA and 1.98 WHIP with a 13:10 K:BB in 17.2 innings of relief. Even though he could return in the near future, don't expect Cloyd to see any high-leverage situations in the majors.

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Rejoins Marlins
The Marlins recalled Cloyd from Triple-A New Orleans on Saturday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Cloyd returned to Triple-A on May 17 and allowed eight runs on 14 hits over 11 innings during his two starts with the Baby Cakes. The 31-year-old is likely to return to a low-leverage role in the Marlins bullpen.

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Optioned to Triple-A
The Marlins optioned Cloyd to Triple-A New Orleans after Thursday's loss to the Dodgers, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Cloyd pitched well Thursday, allowing four hits and two walks over five scoreless innings, but will return to New Orleans nonetheless. The 31-year-old otherwise struggled with the Marlins this season, having allowed 16 runs on 20 hits and five walks over 8.1 innings prior to Thursday's quality effort.

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Returns from paternity leave
The Marlins activated Cloyd (personal) from the paternity leave list Thursday, MLB.com reports.
Cloyd was away from the team the past four days, prompting the Marlins to keep Dillon Peters on the active roster as a long-relief option during that stretch. With Cloyd now back in the fold to fill that role out of the bullpen, Peters was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans, where he'll continue to be developed as a starter.

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Placed on paternity list
Cloyd was placed on the paternity list Monday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
It's unclear how long Cloyd will be away from the team at this point. He won't be missed, however, as he's been used primarily as a mop-up man this season, posting a 12.46 ERA across 4.1 innings of work. The move clears room on the roster for Dan Straily, who was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move.

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Blown up in long relief
Cloyd surrendered six runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.1 innings of long relief in Monday's 12-1 loss to the Yankees. He struck out four batters in the outing.
With one out in the third inning and the Marlins trailing 5-0, Cloyd temporarily clotted the bleeding by inducing an inning-ending double play off the bat of Ronald Torreyes. However, that would prove to be the highlight of the night for Cloyd, who allowed at least two batters to reach base in each of the subsequent three innings as the Yankees pulled away. The right-hander seems unlikely to be used outside of mop-up situations while he remains with the big club.

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Joins big-league club
Cloyd had his contract selected by the Marlins on Sunday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
Cloyd will make his way to the majors after the team decided to designate Jacob Turner for assignment following his brutal start to the season. Cloyd hasn't had a regular role in the majors since 2013 and more recently posted a 5.67 ERA over 60.1 innings at Triple-A Tacoma within the Mariners' organization last season. He'll likely work out of a low-leverage bullpen role with the Marlins.

Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Minors deal with Marlins
Cloyd signed a minor-league deal with the Marlins on Friday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
The 30-year-old righty logged an inning in the majors with the Mariners last season, which represented his only big-league experience since 2013 when he was with the Phillies. Cloyd posted a 5.67 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 48 strikeouts in 60.1 innings at Triple-A last season, primarily as a starter. It's possible he could be used as a swing man at some point with the Marlins, but the results would likely be quite poor.

Mariners' Tyler Cloyd: Clears waivers, sent to Triple-A
The Mariners outrighted Cloyd to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday after he cleared waivers, Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Cloyd boasted a 1.40 ERA in five starts at Tacoma already this year, and his one-outing cameo with the Mariners wasn't enough to argue for a sustained opportunity. The 30-year-old, who had a bit of prospect promise near the turn of the decade with the Phillies, will look to bolster his case as something more than an organizational depth piece.

Mariners' Tyler Cloyd: Designated for assignment
Cloyd was designated for assignment Wednesday.
The 30-year-old's removal from the 40-man roster opens up a spot for Triple-A Tacoma right-hander Andrew Moore, who is expected to work in long relief with the big club. Cloyd made one relief appearance for the Mariners on June 9 before reporting back to Tacoma, where he's compiled a 1.40 ERA in 19.1 innings over five starts this season. Given the perceived lack of upside for a pitcher of Cloyd's age who works in the high-80s-to-low-90s, it's possible he'll pass through waivers unclaimed and stick around at Triple-A as organizational depth.

Mariners' Tyler Cloyd: Optioned to Triple-A on Saturday
Cloyd was sent down to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.
In a corresponding move, the club recalled Emilio Pagan from Tacoma prior to its game against the Blue Jays. During his time with the team, Cloyd only saw one appearance, giving up two hits but no runs Friday against Toronto. The right-hander will likely get another chance to shine at the big-league level later on this season.

Mariners' Tyler Cloyd: Notches first win Friday
Cloyd (1-0) fired a scoreless seventh inning in Friday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays, giving up two hits and recording a strikeout.
The 30-year-old right-hander was in line for the win once Danny Valencia and Jarrod Dyson roped a pair of RBI singles in the home half of the frame to give the Mariners a 3-2 lead. It was Cloyd's first appearance since being called up from Triple-A Tacoma on June 2 and marked his first time on a big-league mound since 2013 while with the Phillies.

Mariners' Tyler Cloyd: Called up from Tacoma
Cloyd was called up by the Mariners on Friday.
Less than a month ago, Cloyd was pitching for Somerset in the independent Atlantic League, but he's now back in the big leagues for the first time since 2013. While Cloyd posted a 14:0 K:BB in 16.1 innings with Triple-A Tacoma, he will presumably just work in a long relief/mop-up role during his time with the big-league club.

Mariners' Tyler Cloyd: Joins Mariners
Cloyd was assigned to Triple-A Tacoma after the Mariners purchased his Atlantic League contract from Somerset.
Cloyd had a 1.50 ERA and 16 strikeouts through 12 innings (three starts) with Somerset before joining the Mariners. The 29-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2013, when he posted a 6.56 ERA across 60.1 innings with the Phillies. Given his career 5.98 ERA across two major league seasons (93.1 innings), Cloyd figures to serve as organizational depth.
