Marlins' Bryan Mitchell: Bounced from 40-man roster
Rotowire
The Marlins designated Mitchell for assignment Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Mitchell's stint on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster lasted just under a week, with the 30-year-old right-hander sent out to clear room for starting pitcher Edward Cabrera, who is set to make his MLB debut Wednesday versus the Nationals. In what marked his first big-league action since 2018, Mitchell made two appearances out of the Miami bullpen, giving up two earned runs on five hits and two walks over four innings.
Mitchell's contract was selected by the Marlins on Thursday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Mitchell was let go by the Phillies in late July after he began the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but he joined Miami on a minor-league pact in early August. The right-hander generated a 3.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 12 innings across five appearances (one start) at Triple-A Jacksonville and will be available to make his 2021 major-league debut after right-hander Luis Madero was designated for assignment Thursday.

Phillies' Bryan Mitchell: Joins minor-league camp
Rotowire
The Phillies reassigned Mitchell to their minor-league camp Monday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Mitchell boasts 171.1 innings worth of MLB experience, but with no appearances since 2018 and no openings in the Philadelphia rotation, the 29-year-old wasn't a serious candidate to make the Opening Day roster. He'll likely head to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to begin the 2021 campaign.

Phillies' Bryan Mitchell: Inks minor-league pact with Phils
Rotowire
Mitchell agreed Tuesday with the Phillies on a minor-league contract, Jayson Stark of The Athletic reports.
Mitchell spent 2020 in the White Sox's 60-man roster pool, but he never received a promotion from the alternate training site before being released in late August. The 29-year-old lefty -- whose last MLB action came in 2018 -- appears likely to begin the 2021 campaign in the rotation at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Rotowire
Mitchell was added to the White Sox's 60-man roster Tuesday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Mitchell spent the majority of 2019 with Triple-A El Paso, where he sputtered to a 9.41 ERA and 2.14 WHIP with a 34:28 K:BB over 44 innings. He inked a minor-league deal with the White Sox in January, and he'll now be able to work at the team's alternate training site as part of the 60-man roster.

White Sox's Bryan Mitchell: Signs minors deal with White Sox
Rotowire
Mitchell signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander spent the entire season in the minors, posting a 9.41 ERA and 2.14 WHIP over 44 innings with Triple-A El Paso. Mitchell had appeared in the majors in each of the five seasons prior to 2019, so it wouldn't be surprising if he served as a non-roster invitee during spring training.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Outrighted to Triple-A
Rotowire
Mitchell was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.
Mitchell will report to the Chihuahuas after passing through waivers untouched. The right-hander, who owns a career 5.15 ERA across parts of five major-league seasons (171.1 innings), will serve as organizational pitching depth.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Gets bumped down
Rotowire
Mitchell was designated for assignment, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
He lost out on a 25-man roster spot a couple weeks ago, and given the amount of young talent in the system, it's not surprising that the Padres needed to cut him loose from the 40-man roster. Mitchell's time as a big-league starter is probably over, but he could catch on as a reliever with a team that might want to put a waiver claim on him.

Mitchell agreed to a one-year, $910,000 contract with San Diego on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Not expected to make another start
Rotowire
Mitchell will not make another start this season, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
As confirmed by Dennis Lin of The Athletic, Mitchell is done for the year after Monday's gem against San Francisco (8.2 scoreless innings, seven strikeouts). The Padres will go with a bullpen game Wednesday and then close out the season with Eric Lauer, Jacob Nix and Joey Lucchesi against Arizona. Mitchell was a certified disaster earlier in the year but put himself back into the conversation for the 2019 rotation by posting a 2.19 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in four September starts.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Falters in loss
Rotowire
Mitchell (1-4) took the loss after giving up four runs on nine hits (two home runs) with four strikeouts over five innings Monday against the Giants.
Mitchell appeared to be turning his horrendous season around with two solid outings after rejoining the Padres' rotation Sept. 3, but Monday's rough start was a step in the wrong direction. The 27-year-old will get a chance to redeem himself against these same Giants on the road next Monday.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Fires six strong in no-decision
Rotowire
Mitchell didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's win over the Mariners, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two over six innings.
The only mark on Mitchell's ledger was a two-out, solo home run to Robinson Cano in the third inning. The 27-year-old was impressive in this one, but it was just his first quality start since April, and he still sports and inverted 27:40 K:BB to go along with an unsightly 6.07 ERA. His next turn through the rotation will be a home start Tuesday versus the Giants.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Gets another chance as starter
Rotowire
Mitchell is listed as the probable pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.
Mitchell logged five innings in his last start for San Diego, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out a pair. His 6.58 ERA and lowly 4.2 K/9 suggest there's little to get excited about here, so even with the starting nod, he can be avoided in most fantasy formats.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Earns first win
Rotowire
Mitchell (1-3) allowed one earned run on two hits and three walks while striking out two across five innings to earn the win Monday against the Diamondbacks.
Mitchell pitched for the first time since June 5 (elbow) and put together a solid performance despite walking more batters than he struck out. Prior to this start, Mitchell had posted a 6.47 ERA as a starter and has a 25:38 K:BB ratio across 53.1 innings this season. Even with positive results in Monday's outing, Mitchell's skills indicate that he will be a liability when he takes the mound.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Returns from disabled list
Rotowire
Mitchell (elbow) was activated from the disabled list Saturday.
The Padres will hope that Mitchell's elbow impingement was the source of his struggles earlier in the season, as he posted an ugly 7.08 ERA and an equally disconcerting 23:35 K:BB in 48.1 innings. Despite that poor performance, he's been given another chance in the rotation and will start Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Could make starts in September
Rotowire
Mitchell (elbow) may be activated from the 10-day disabled list as soon as Friday and could receive a start or two in September, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
With Eric Lauer (elbow) set to come off the disabled list Thursday to start in place of Clayton Richard (knee), who has been shut down for the season, the Padres now have four rookies in the rotation. The non-contending Padres are likely mindful of monitoring the workloads of Lauer, Brett Kennedy, Joey Lucchesi and Jacob Nix carefully as the season winds down, so adding Mitchell to the rotation could be a way to protect those young arms. Any appointment to a starting role certainly wouldn't be on merit, as Mitchell had delivered an ugly 7.08 ERA and 23:35 K:BB across 48.1 innings before hitting the DL in early June with a sore right elbow. The right-hander has since recovered from the setback and has been rehabbing at High-A Lake Elsinore throughout August, making six appearances.

Padres' Bryan Mitchell: Throws simulated game
Rotowire
Mitchell (elbow) pitched a three-inning simulated game Friday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Barring any setback within the next couple days, Mitchell will likely take the mound during a minor-league rehab assignment at some point next week. The right-hander hasn't appeared in a major-league game since June 5, so don't be surprised if he requires a couple starts in the minors before returning from the DL.
