Taylor announced his retirement from baseball via his personal Instagram account Sunday.
Reports surfaced Friday that Taylor had decided to retire, but that was followed by reports Sunday that the veteran utility man reversed his decision. Taylor was subsequently placed on the 7-day IL by Triple-A Salt Lake due to a left forearm fracture. It now appears that Taylor has officially settled on hanging up his cleats. He played parts of 12-big league seasons, with his most productive campaigns coming as a member of the Dodgers. Taylor will conclude his career with a .248/.327/.746 slash line, 110 home runs, 443 RBI and 91 stolen bases over 1,123 regular-season games.

Taylor has been playing at Triple-A Salt Lake this year, but after slashing .255/.382/.321 through 32 games in the minors, he's officially decided it's time to hang up his cleats. The 35-year-old spent 12 seasons in the majors with the Mariners, Dodgers and Angels. He was named an All-Star in 2021 and won the World Series twice with the Dodgers in 2020 and 2024.

Taylor was with the Angels for spring training but was unsuccessful in making the team's Opening Day roster. He initially opted out of his contract March 20, but the veteran outfielder will return to the organization and likely play for Triple-A Salt Lake. Taylor opted out of his contract with the Angels on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Taylor signed an NRI deal with the Halos in February, but after being informed he wouldn't make the big-league roster, he opted out of the deal. The veteran utility player will hit the open market after going 9-for-39 (.231) with one home run and a 10:11 BB:K during spring training.
Taylor signed a contract with the Angels on Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
No details of the deal are currently known, but presumably it's a short-term contract that gives Taylor a good chance of starting the campaign on the big-league roster. He ended the 2025 season with the Angels and hit .179 with two homers and 10 RBI across only 90 plate appearances with the club. Taylor will likely be in a reserve role, but he could get several starts per week due to his ability to play all three outfield spots as well as the infield.
