Mets' Sean Manaea: Will decline player option
Manaea is expected to decline his $13.5 million player option for 2025, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Manaea posted a 3.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 181.2 innings in 2024 -- all of which represent career-best marks for a full season. The 32-year-old southpaw will now look to capitalize on his strong campaign and likely pursue a multi-year deal in free agency.

Mets' Sean Manaea: Starting Game 2 of NLCS
Manaea will start Game 2 of the NLCS against the Dodgers on Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Manaea hasn't pitched since Tuesday, so it's hardly a surprise for him to start on what will be five days of rest. The 32-year-old southpaw has given up three earned runs through 12 innings during the postseason and will be following Kodai Senga in the rotation.

Mets' Sean Manaea: Will start Game 3 of NLDS
Manaea was announced Sunday as the Mets' starter for Game 3 of the NLDS versus the Phillies on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The announcement comes as no surprise, as Manaea will be on five days' rest after starting Game 2 of the wild-card series this past Wednesday against Milwaukee. In that contest, the left-hander yielded two runs over five innings and came away with a no-decision. In three starts versus Philadelphia during the regular season, Manaea posted a 5.40 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB over 16.2 frames.

Mets' Sean Manaea: Tapped for Game 2 start
Manaea will start Wednesday in Game 2 of the National League Wild Card Series against the Brewers, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Manaea was knocked around in Milwaukee in his final start of the regular season, but it's no surprise he's getting the nod for Game 2 based on his 3.47 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 184:63 K:BB across 181.2 innings this season. Jose Quintana is a likely bet to start Game 3, if necessary, although Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is holding off naming a starter for that contest for now.

Mets' Sean Manaea: Shelled in Milwaukee
Manaea (12-6) took the loss Friday against the Brewers, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out just one.
The 32-year-old's run of brilliance came to an end, as he had pitched to a 2.91 ERA over 65 innings across his previous 10 starts. This marks the first time Manaea has allowed five or more earned runs since his first start of the second half against Miami on July 19. Things unraveled quickly for the Mets southpaw, as Rhys Hoskins launched a grand slam to left field in the opening frame. Manaea concludes a solid regular season, pitching to a 3.47 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 184:63 K:BB across 181.2 innings. He likely will enter free agency this offseason as the two-year deal he signed with the Mets this past January includes an opt-out clause.

Mets' Sean Manaea: Likely to pitch Friday
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said there's a "good chance" Manaea pitches Friday against Milwaukee after Wednesday's and Thursday's games against Atlanta were postponed due to inclement weather, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
The left-hander was scheduled to start Thursday's contest, and it's hardly a surprise the Mets are hoping to get him on the mound as soon as possible in preparation for the wild-card round next week. Manaea has a 3.29 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 183:61 K:BB over 178 innings through 31 starts this season.

Mets' Sean Manaea: Notches 12th win
Manaea (12-5) picked up the win in Saturday's 6-3 victory over the Phillies, giving up three runs on three hits over seven innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.
Solo shots by Kyle Schwarber to lead off the game and Nick Castellanos in the fifth inning accounted for most of the damage off Manaea, but he was otherwise locked in as he won his fourth straight decision. The quality start was the southpaw's third straight and seventh in his last eight outings, a stretch in which he's posted a 2.95 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 58:10 K:BB through 55 innings. Manaea is scheduled to make his final start of the regular season on the road next week against Atlanta -- the team closest to the Mets in the race for the final wild-card spot in the NL.
