Aaron Altherr: Heading overseas
Altherr signed a contract with the NC Dinos of the Korean Baseball Organization on Friday, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reports.
Altherr appeared in 49 major-league games between the Phillies, Giants and Mets in 2019, but he went 5-for-61 with 25 strikeouts in those 49 games. The 28-year-old posted a .856 OPS with 19 home runs in 412 plate appearances with Philadelphia in 2017, so he's a good rebound candidate in the more hitter-friendly KBO.

Mets' Aaron Altherr: Sent to Triple-A
Altherr cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports.
Altherr was designated for assignment by the Mets over the weekend and will remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 28-year-old has struggled in 49 major-league games this season, going 5-for-61 with 25 strikeouts.

Mets' Aaron Altherr: Designated for assignment
Altherr was designated for assignment Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Altherr had struggled since joining the Mets on July 27, hitting just .129/.200/.258 across 35 plate appearances. Jeff McNeil (hamstring) was activated from the injured list Saturday and will take Altherr's spot on the active roster.

Mets' Aaron Altherr: Joins big club
Altherr had his contract purchased from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.
Altherr is back with the Mets to replace the injured Dominic Smith (foot), who was placed on the injured list Saturday. The 28-year-old Altherr is slashing just .050/.095/.150 in 29 games (42 plate appearances) this season, so he'll likely be limited to a bench role during his time with the big club.

Mets' Aaron Altherr: Outrighted to Triple-A
Altherr was sent outright to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Jacob Resnick of Mets Minors reports.
Altherr was designated for assignment Wednesday, though given his service time, he can elect free agency should he choose to decline a minor-league assignment.

Mets' Aaron Altherr: Designated for assignment
Altherr was designated for assignment by the Mets on Wednesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Altherr has been cut from three teams this season, previously getting designated for assignment by the Phillies and Giants. His .221/.310/.406 career slash line in parts of six seasons could be enough to earn him another spot at the end of someone's bench, but his .163/.269/.307 line over the last pair of campaigns may have greater relevance at this point. He'll clear a roster spot for Robinson Cano (quadriceps), who returned from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Mets' Aaron Altherr: Launches first homer as Met
Altherr hit a solo home run as a pinch hitter in a loss to the Tigers on Friday.
Stepping to the plate in the sixth inning with the score tied 6-6, Altherr took Buck Farmer deep for his first homer of the year and only his second hit in 32 plate appearances. Altherr's stay with the Mets is likely to be a brief one -- Michael Conforto (concussion) could be close to a return from the injured list, and the organization just signed Matt Kemp to a minor-league deal.

Mets' Aaron Altherr: Claimed by Mets
Altherr was claimed off waivers by the Mets on Thursday.
The Mets' current stable of healthy outfielders consists of journeymen (Carlos Gomez, Rajai Davis), an infielder (J.D. Davis) and Juan Lagares. Altherr had been claimed by the Giants and then designated for assignment in hopes of retaining him, but the Mets swooped in and claimed him to address their current lack of quality depth. The expectation is that Altherr will be active for Friday's game against the Tigers. He has a career .222/.312/.406 slash line in 333 games in the majors. Altherr has been mediocre against righties (91 wRC+) and lefties (93 wRC+).

Giants' Aaron Altherr: Exiled from 40-man roster
The Giants designated Altherr for assignment Sunday.
Altherr joined the Giants a week ago after being claimed off waivers from the Phillies but couldn't crack San Francisco's outfield ranks, logging just one at-bat during his time with the club. The Giants will hope to keep Altherr around as a depth option at Triple-A Sacramento if he goes unclaimed while being exposed to waivers again.

Giants' Aaron Altherr: Will dress Tuesday
Altherr will be available for the Giants' next game Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Altherr joined the organization Saturday after being claimed off waivers from the Phillies, but his status had been in limbo for the past couple days after the Giants delayed adding him to their active roster. With the Giants finally opening up room for him by designating catcher Erik Kratz for assignment Monday, Altherr should step in as the team's fourth outfielder. Altherr could be a platoon partner for the lefty-hitting Steven Duggar and/or push Mac Williamson for the top job in left field.

Giants' Aaron Altherr: Claimed by Giants
Altherr was claimed by the Giants on Saturday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
Altherr appeared to be developing into an interesting player when he hit .272 with 19 homers in 107 games for the Phillies in 2017, but he's struggled significantly since then. His career line of .223/.312/.407 through parts of six big-league seasons is likely a more accurate representation of who he is, making him firmly a bench outfielder. Altherr has no minor-league options remaining, so he'll join the Giants' 25-man roster right away following the waiver claim.

Phillies' Aaron Altherr: Designated for assignment
Altherr was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Saturday.
Altherr had been on the roster since Opening Day but did very little with his limited opportunities, managing just a single hit in 30 plate appearances. After seemingly breaking out with a .272/.340/.516 line in 2017, the 28-year-old has hit a miserable .165/.273/.306 over the last two seasons. Odubel Herrera (hamstring) was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Phillies' Aaron Altherr: Making rare start
Altherr is starting for just the second time this season Monday against the Mets, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Altherr certainly hasn't done anything to claim more regular playing time, going 1-for-27 at the plate. He'll hit eighth and play center field Monday.

Phillies' Aaron Altherr: Gets chance to pitch
Altherr went 0-for-2 at the plate and allowed one run on two hits while striking out a pair in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Nationals.
Altherr was one of the Phillies' better pitchers on a day in which the team allowed 15 runs. Opportunities as an outfielder have been rare for Altherr this season, as Andrew McCutchen, Odubel Herrera and Bryce Harper have each started every single game. His roster spot is potentially at risk when Roman Quinn (oblique) returns from the injured list.

Phillies' Aaron Altherr: Mediocre start to spring
Altherr has a strong .390 on-base percentage but is hitting just .250 and slugging just .281 so far this spring.
Altherr's job is likely safe for now, with Roman Quinn (oblique) expected to open the year on the injured list. He has slightly more experience in center field than fellow bench outfielder Nick Williams, but both Andrew McCutchen and Bryce Harper have spent time in center in the past, so there's no guarantee Altherr will get called on when Odubel Herrera needs a day off.

Phillies' Aaron Altherr: Slowed by foot injury
The Phillies will "take it slow" with Altherr (foot) at the beginning of spring training, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Altherr finished the 2018 campaign on the shelf due to a right foot injury that ultimately kept him immobilized for six weeks. While the outfielder is currently taking batting practice in the cage, he still hasn't built up to running and cutting, putting him slightly behind others as the start of camp approaches. Barring any setbacks, Altherr is still expected to be ready for the start of the season. He projects as outfield depth in 2019 after hitting just .181/.295/.333 across 105 games last season.
