Angels' Jack Lopez: Loses roster spot
Lopez was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Lopez appeared in the majors for the first time since 2021, picking up 71 plate appearances across the final six weeks of the regular season. He managed only a .629 OPS with a 35.2 percent strikeout rate, and he could now be looking for a new opportunity.

Angels' Jack Lopez: Pops first big-league homer
Lopez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox.
He took Prelander Berroa deep in the eighth inning, extending the Angels' lead to 2-0 before the team's bullpen fell apart. The long ball was the first of Lopez's career in 29 MLB games, and the 31-year-old journeyman has been on a nice little tear to close out the season, batting .417 (10-for-24) over his last nine games. He's settled into an everyday role at second base for the Halos, supplanting Brandon Drury.

Angels' Jack Lopez: Batting second Wednesday
Lopez will start at shortstop and bat second Wednesday against the White Sox, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Zach Neto is getting a rare day off, so Lopez will step in at shortstop after each of his previous seven starts with the Angels had come at second base. Since receiving a call-up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Aug. 15, Lopez has slashed a dismal .065/.121/.186 with a 41.2 percent strikeout rate over 34 plate appearances.

Angels' Jack Lopez: Promoted to majors
The Angels selected Lopez's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
The Angels designated Willie Calhoun for assignment Thursday, so Lopez will now come up from the minors to fill the open roster spot. The 31-year-old has slashed .275/.334/.423 with 57 RBI and 15 stolen bases across 104 games in Triple-A while fielding every position other than first base. Lopez hasn't played in the majors since a brief stint with the Red Sox in 2021.

Tigers' Jack Lopez: Not in mix for roster spot
Lopez will not make Detroit's Opening Day roster, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Lopez is in camp with the Tigers on a minor-league deal, and he's collected five hits in only six at-bats in Grapefruit League action. Despite the impressive small-sample showing, Lopez is in line to start the season at Triple-A Toledo. The 29-year-old made his major-league debut last season with Boston, and he went 2-for-13.

Tigers' Jack Lopez: Goes deep Thursday
Lopez 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees.
Lopez joined the Tigers on a minor-league deal in February and is competing for a bench role. The 29-year-old made his MLB debut last season, going 2-for-13 in limited action with Boston. He's a career .241 hitter in the minors as well, so unless he shows more at the plate this spring, he probably won't see much playing time in 2022, even if he is able to secure a reserve spot in the majors.

Tigers' Jack Lopez: Signs minors deal with Detroit
Lopez agreed to a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Lopez reached the majors for the first time in his age-28 season last year, going 2-for-13 in limited action for the Red Sox. His ability to fill in at multiple spots around the diamond, including both middle infield spots and center field, could help him win a bench role, but he's unlikely to hit enough to earn significant playing time. He's a career .241/.295/.330 hitter in 893 minor-league games.

Red Sox's Jack Lopez: Sent down Tuesday
Lopez was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Lopez was called up Sept. 11 and he wound up going 0-for-2 with a pair of runs scored while making two appearances off the bench. He'll move back to Worcester for the time being with Christian Arroyo (illness) set to return from the COVID-19 injured list.

Red Sox's Jack Lopez: Recalled by Boston
Lopez was recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.
Lopez was sent to Worcester on Monday, but he'll rejoin the major-league club after Danny Santana (illness) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday. The 28-year-old has appeared in five major-league games this year, and he hit .167 with two doubles, a walk and five strikeouts.

Red Sox's Jack Lopez: Sent back to minors
The Red Sox optioned Lopez to Triple-A Worcester on Monday.
Lopez had started at second base in each of the Red Sox's last five games, but he'll cede his spot in the lineup to Taylor Motter in Monday's contest against the Rays and his spot on the active roster to veteran infielder Jose Iglesias, whose signing with Boston became official. Boston is expected to get more reinforcements to the middle infield with Enrique Hernandez (illness) potentially returning from the COVID-19 injured list as soon as Tuesday, so Lopez likely won't be back with the big club at any point in 2021.

Red Sox's Jack Lopez: Sitting Monday
Lopez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
After receiving a promotion from Triple-A Worcester on Sept. 1 when Yairo Munoz joined Xander Bogaerts, Enrique Hernandez and Christian Arroyo on the COVID-19 injured list, Lopez proceeded to start each of the past five games at second base, going 2-for-12 with a pair of doubles and a walk. Taylor Motter will get the nod at the keystone Monday, and he and Lopez are likely to continue sharing time at the position until the Red Sox get some reinforcements from the IL. Hernandez appears to be the closest to being activated; he rejoined the team Monday and could be reinstated from the IL as soon as Tuesday, according to Alex Speier of The Boston Globe.
