  • Braves' Brent Suter: Lands with Atlanta

Atlanta acquired Suter from the Angels on Monday in exchange for infielder Nacho Alvarez, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. In 41 appearances for the Angels this season, Suter has put up a 4.12 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 55:17 K:BB over 63.1 innings. The veteran left-hander offers Atlanta a versatile bullpen arm capable of covering multiple innings. Suter has recorded more than three outs in 20 of his 41 outings in 2026.

  • Angels' Brent Suter: Starting bullpen game

Suter will start Saturday's game against the Brewers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The Angels scratched Jose Soriano from his start Saturday as they look to trade him ahead of Monday's deadline, so Suter will now take the mound to begin the game. The 36-year-old has given up two earned runs in nine innings since the All-Star break and has the ability to go two or three innings before coming out of the game.

  • Angels' Brent Suter: Grabs opener assignment

Suter will serve as the Angels' opening pitcher in Monday's contest in Cleveland, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Suter will draw his second opener assignment of the season, after he allowed one run over two frames in his first start back on April 16 against the Yankees. Alek Manoah is slated to be the team's primary pitcher Monday sometime after Suter exits the game.

  • Angels' Brent Suter: Tagged for one run in spot start

Suter did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Yankees, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out two over two innings. Making his first start of the season, Suter was punished early, when he served up an 88-mph fastball that Aaron Judge launched into the seats in the first inning. The southpaw followed up with a 30-pitch second inning that resulted in stranding two runners in scoring position to limit further damage. Despite the hiccup Thursday, Suter has been a great bullpen arm for the Angels to open 2026, maintaining a 2.40 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 15:6 K:BB across 15 innings.

  • Angels' Brent Suter: Drawing start Thursday

Suter will be the Angels' starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the Yankees. Suter has been deployed mainly as a long reliever the last several seasons, but he covered 3.2 innings in his most recent appearance and will be on four days' rest Thursday, so he could cover 4-to-5 frames against the Yankees if things go well. The lefty has pitching exceptionally for the Angels this season, collecting a 2.08 ERA and 13:4 K:BB over 13 innings.

  • Angels' Brent Suter: Tosses 3.2 scoreless relief innings

Suter allowed two hits and struck out two batters over 3.2 scoreless innings in relief against Cincinnati on Saturday. Rookie starter George Klassen was able to complete only two frames before exiting with a right index fingernail contusion, but Suter was able to save the Angels bullpen. The southpaw was very efficient, needing just 39 pitches (28 strikes) to get 11 outs. Suter has worked at least two innings in five of his six appearances this season, accumulating a 2.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB over 13 total frames.

  • Angels' Brent Suter: Latches on with Angels

The Angels signed Suter to a one-year, $1.25 million major-league contract Friday, Taylor Blake Ward of Baseball America reports. Suter will join the Halos for the 2026 season after spending the last two years in Cincinnati. The 36-year-old reliever appeared in 48 games with the Reds last season, posting a 4.52 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB across 67.2 regular-season innings. He's the fourth significant addition to the Angels' bullpen this offseason, as the team already added Jordan Romano, Drew Pomeranz and Kirby Yates through free agency.

  • Brent Suter: Becomes free agent

The Reds declined Suter's $3 million option for 2026 on Wednesday. Suter will receive a $250,000 buyout instead. The veteran southpaw collected a 4.52 ERA and 53:18 K:BB across 67.2 frames for the Reds in 2025. With the versatility to go multiple innings and start a game in a pinch, Suter shouldn't have trouble landing another contract this winter.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Set to open Saturday's contest

Manager Terry Francona said that Suter will serve as the Reds' opening pitcher in a bullpen game Saturday against the Cardinals, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Suter is stepping into the rotation spot vacated by left-hander Wade Miley (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday. The 35-year-old Suter has previously opened two games for the Reds, but since he'll be taking the hill on one day's rest and has maxed out at 3.2 innings and 63 pitches over his 23 appearances on the season, he's unlikely to stay in the game for more than one turn through the batting order. The Reds are expected to call up right-hander Chase Petty from Triple-A Louisville prior to Saturday's game, and he could be tasked with covering multiple innings in relief once Suter exits the contest.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Back from bereavement list

The Reds activated Suter from the bereavement list Friday. Suter missed the final two games of the Reds' series in Cleveland but is back for the start of their set in Detroit. The lefty holds a 2.27 ERA and 20:5 K:BB over 31.2 innings this season.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Placed on bereavement list

The Reds placed Suter on the bereavement list Tuesday. By rule, Suter will miss the next 3-to-7 games. He's been replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Joe La Sorsa.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Opening Saturday's game

Suter will serve as the Reds' opening pitcher for Saturday's game against the Guardians, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports. Chase Petty will move into a bulk-relief role Saturday while Suter likely covers the first inning or two. The 35-year-old southpaw has been one of the most reliable arms on the Reds' pitching staff this season, logging a 2.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP over 21.2 innings.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Fills in admirably against Orioles

Suter took a no-decision Sunday at Baltimore. He struck out one over three scoreless innings while yielding three hits and no walks. The veteran southpaw was called upon to sub in for Carson Spiers (shoulder), who hit the injured list before this game. Suter was solid, generating six whiffs out of his 63 total pitches. With this effort, the 35-year-old now sports a 1.86 ERA and 0.83 WHIP across 9.2 innings. Suter probably will not make another start, as Nick Lodolo (personal) should return soon to fill the empty rotation spot.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Remaining with Cincinnati

Suter signed a one-year, $2.25 million contract with the Reds on Friday. The deal includes a $3 million club option for 2026. Suter's previous contract included a $3.5 million club option for 2025, which the Reds bought out for $250,000 before agreeing to terms on his latest deal. The 35-year-old southpaw was an effective middle reliever for the Reds in 2024, putting up a 3.15 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 65.2 innings.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Picks up first save

Suter earned the save in Wednesday's 12-5 win over Houston, allowing one run on three hits over 3.1 innings. He struck out six. A Jon Singleton solo homer was the extent of the damage done off Suter, as the left-hander recorded the final 10 outs to earn the save in Wednesday's blowout victory. It's the first save of the year for Suter and just the second of his nine-year MLB career. Overall, Suter sports a 3.43 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and 47:10 K:BB across 57.2 innings in a middle-relief role this season.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Activated from injured list

The Reds reinstated Suter (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Sunday. The veteran left-hander is ready to rejoin Cincinnati after a three-game minor-league rehab assignment, during which he allowed one run on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks over 4.2 innings. Suter has a 3.68 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 41:10 K:BB over 51.1 innings this season, and he should return to a middle-relief role now that he's healthy.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Needs at least three rehab outings

Suter (shoulder) will need at least three rehab outings before being activated off the 15-day injured list, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Suter had a successful throwing session Friday and is expected to begin a rehab assignment this week. He's ahead of the original projected return from a partial tear of the left teres major muscle.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Throwing earlier than expected

Suter (shoulder) has begun throwing, MLB.com reports. Suter, who suffered a partial tear of his teres major muscle July 19, was expected to be shut down from throwing for up to six weeks, but he's way ahead of that schedule. It's unclear when he'll be ready for a rehab assignment.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Exits with injury

Suter was removed from Friday's game against the Nationals due to left shoulder tightness, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Suter was only able to get through two-thirds of an inning on seven pitches before exiting alongside a trainer. The 34-year-old southpaw may be unavailable for at least a game or two while the Reds determine the severity of the issue.

  • Reds' Brent Suter: Serving as opener Tuesday

Suter will serve as the Reds' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Guardians, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Suter didn't make it through the first inning in his last stint as an opener, allowing one hit while recording two outs before being lifted in a May 26 start against the Dodgers. Nick Martinez will likely be tabbed to serve as a primary pitcher behind Suter on Tuesday, considering he hasn't pitched since Friday, when he needed only 11 pitches to get through a scoreless seventh inning against the Cubs.
