Despaigne signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Korea Baseball Organization's KT Wiz on Wednesday, the Yonhap News Agency reports.
The contract also includes up to $300,000 in incentives that could increase the value of the deal to $1.1 million, a sum Despaigne likely wouldn't have come close to earning in 2021 had he opted to leave the KBO in pursuit of a return to affiliated ball. Before joining the Wiz last season, the 33-year-old made 109 appearances (50 starts) over stops with the Padres, Orioles, Marlins, Angels and White Sox from 2014 through 2019, logging a 5.11 ERA and 5.5 K/9.

Despaigne was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Monday.

White Sox's Odrisamer Despaigne: Gives back lead in no-decision
Rotowire
Despaigne allowed four runs on eight hits and one walk over three-plus innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Rangers.
The White Sox gave Despaigne a four-run first-inning lead, but he gave it all back in three innings. Nomar Mazara took him deep in the first and third innings to help erase the deficit. After three starts, the journeyman right-hander has a 9.45 ERA but could survive in the rotation for the time being. ''As far as we're concerned, Despaigne's here till he's not,'' White Sox manager Rick Renteria told Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. ''Until we find a different option or we decide we need an option. Right now, we'll send him out there and allow him to do his job.'' If Despaigne remains in the rotation, his next turn comes Friday at home against the Twins.

White Sox's Odrisamer Despaigne: Gives up seven runs in loss
Rotowire
Despaigne (0-2) gave up seven runs on nine hits and four walks while striking out five through 4.1 innings, taking the loss against the Yankees on Sunday.
After two scoreless innings, Despaigne saw the wheels come off during his performance as he was crushed for five runs in the third inning and two more before he could get out of the fifth. After a solid outing in his first start earned him a second chance in the rotation, this start may cause his spot to be in question. The 32-year-old has an 8.71 ERA through two starts. If he stays in the rotation, Despaigne is currently scheduled to pitch again Saturday against the Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

White Sox's Odrisamer Despaigne: Starting again Sunday
Rotowire
Despaigne is listed as the White Sox's probable starter for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Despaigne was called up from Triple-A Charlotte to make his White Sox debut Monday, limiting the Nationals to three runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings to take the loss. The performance was apparently good enough for the White Sox to reward him with another turn through the rotation, but Despaigne could struggle to deliver another quality start while matching up with a high-powered Yankees offense.

White Sox's Odrisamer Despaigne: Summoned ahead of start
Rotowire
Despaigne had his contract purchased from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of his scheduled start against the Nationals on Monday.
Despaigne is set to make his 2019 big-league debut after compiling a combined 3.34 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 59.1 innings (11 starts, one relief appearance) between Triple-A Louisville and Charlotte. The veteran swingman struggled to a 6.69 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in 19 appearances (39 innings) with the Marlins and Angels last season, so it would be unwise to expect much from him Monday. Jace Fry (shoulder) was sent to the IL while Nicky Delmonico was released in a pair of corresponding roster moves.

White Sox's Odrisamer Despaigne: Expected to start Monday
Rotowire
Despaigne is expected to have his contract selected from Triple-A Charlotte to start Monday's game against the Nationals, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The move hasn't been made official just yet, but Despaigne is in line to make his White Sox debut in the series opener. He made stops with the Marlins and Angels a season ago but struggled to a 6.69 ERA and 1.82 WHIP with a 35 :19 K:BB across 39 innings. Chicago will need to make a corresponding move in order to add Despaigne to the 40-man roster.

White Sox's Odrisamer Despaigne: Gets MiLB deal from White Sox
Rotowire
Despaigne signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Sunday and was assigned to Triple-A Charlotte, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Despaigne will provide the White Sox with some much-needed starting depth after two members of the big-league rotation (Carlos Rodon and Manny Banuelos) were recently placed on the 10-day injured list. Chicago is expected to promote a pitcher from Charlotte on Monday when Banuelos' turn comes up, so Despaigne will be plugged into the Triple-A rotation as a replacement.

Reds' Odrisamer Despaigne: Off to minors camp
Rotowire
Despaigne was reassigned to minor-league camp Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Despaigne had a 6.69 ERA in 39 major-league innings last season with the Marlins and Angels, so he was always going to have a tough time capitalizing on his non-roster invitation. He'll fill an organizational depth role for the Reds this season.

Reds' Odrisamer Despaigne: Inks minors deal with Reds
Rotowire
Despaigne signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Despaigne split time with the Marlins and Angels in 2018, though he struggled to a combined 6.69 ERA and 1.82 WHIP across 39 innings at both stops. The veteran right-hander is nothing more than a low-leverage innings eater at this point in his career.

Odrisamer Despaigne: Opts for free agency
Rotowire
Despaigne declined an outright assignment to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday and elected free agency.
After being removed from the Angels' 40-man roster Friday, Despaigne decided to explore his options on the open market rather than remaining with the organization. No matter where he ultimately lands this winter, the right-hander will likely have to settle for a minor-league contract after posting a 6.69 ERA and 1.82 WHIP across 39 innings between the Marlins and Angels in 2018.

Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Will start Thursday
Rotowire
Despaigne will start Thursday's series opener against the Mariners, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Despaigne was briefly shifted to the bullpen after making three uninspiring starts (7.50 ERA) since joining the Angels in mid-August. Thursday was initially expected to be a bullpen game, but that gameplan may not be far off from reality after the swingman failed to complete more than four frames in any of his previous three starts.

Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Shifting to bullpen?
Rotowire
Despaigne was removed from the Angels' notes as Sunday's probable pitcher and added to the list of relievers on the club's lineup card ahead of Thursday's contest in Houston, Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group reports.
Despaigne has failed to make it into the fifth inning in any of his three starts this month, logging a 7.50 ERA and 2.00 WHIP with just nine strikeouts across 12 innings in those outings. It appears as though he will transition to a long-relief role in the bullpen, especially since the club is now listing Sunday's starter as "TBA." Though Fletcher floats the idea that Shohei Ohtani (elbow) could possibly return for that start, the Angels have yet to offer up any word on his status after he pitched a simulated game Monday. With rosters expanding to 40 players this weekend, there's a plethora of arms that could take Despaigne's place in the rotation.

Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Another short outing
Rotowire
Despaigne danced around 10 baserunners (four walks) to limit the Rockies to two runs over four innings while striking out two in a no-decision Monday.
All three of Despaigne's starts with the Angels have lasted just four frames. The veteran swingman posted a respectable 3.5 K/BB ratio over his last two outings, but Monday's 0.5 mark was a step in the wrong direction. Both Tyler Skaggs (groin) and Nick Tropeano (shoulder) are working towards returning from their respective DL stints, putting Despaigne in jeopardy of losing his rotation spot down the stretch. The 31-year-old draws a tough matchup against a red-hot Astros lineup Sunday.

Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Lasts four innings in loss
Rotowire
Despaigne (2-2) gave up three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four over four innings and taking the loss against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Despaigne wasn't very efficient in this one, requiring 87 pitches (55 strikes) to complete four frames. The veteran swingman has now give up eight runs with a 7:2 K:BB ratio over eight innings in two starts since joining the Halos via a trade earlier this month. Despite the poor results, Despaigne should get another start early next week against the Rockies as Tyler Skaggs (groin) and Nick Tropeano (shoulder) continue to mend on the DL.

Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Receiving another start Wednesday
Rotowire
Despaigne is listed as the Angels' probable starter for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Despaigne was roughed up in his Angels debut over the weekend, letting in five runs on seven hits and a walk in a loss to the Rangers. Despite the unimpressive showing along with his mediocre numbers over 44 career big-league starts, Despaigne will stick in the rotation for another turn with the Angels lacking in healthy alternatives who possess 40-man roster spots. Despaigne will likely shift to the bullpen or head to Triple-A Salt Lake once two of Tyler Skaggs (groin), Nick Tropeano (shoulder), Matt Shoemaker (forearm) or Shohei Ohtani (elbow) are cleared to rejoin the rotation.

Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Officially recalled from minors
Rotowire
Despaigne was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake prior to Friday's start against Texas, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
As expected, Despaigne will take the hill in Arlington after being traded to the Angels from Miami on Tuesday. The right-hander only recorded one start with the Marlins this season, but has started 43 games dating back to the start of the 2014 season. In a corresponding move, the club also recalled Deck McGuire and sent down Taylor Cole and Osmer Morales.

Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Slated to start Friday
Rotowire
Despaigne will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday to start against the Rangers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Despaigne, who was acquired from the Marlins in a trade earlier in the week, will join the Angels' rotation over the weekend with Tyler Skaggs (groin) and Nick Tropeano (shoulder) both on the shelf. The 31-year-old owns a 5.31 ERA through 20.1 big-league innings this season (all with the Marlins).

Angels' Odrisamer Despaigne: Traded to Angels
Rotowire
The Angels acquired Despaigne from the Marlins on Tuesday for cash considerations, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Despaigne struggled during his time in the majors for the Marlins, allowing 16 runs (12 earned) over 20.1 innings with a 18:8 K:BB. The 31-year-old has resided with Triple-A New Orleans since early June, serving as both reliever and starter for the Baby Cakes. Despaigne is likely to report to Triple-A Salt Lake with his new organization.

Marlins' Odrisamer Despaigne: Kicks off rehab stint
Rotowire
Despaigne (forearm) made his first rehab appearance Wednesday for High-A Jupiter. He tossed one inning, giving up a run on one hit and a walk while striking out a batter.
It was far from a smooth outing for Despaigne, who surrendered a two-out home run and needed 24 pitches to get through the inning. The right-hander landed on the 10-day disabled list in late April with a right forearm injury and will likely require multiple outings in the minors to prove he's healthy again following a one-month layoff. Look for Despaigne to work in a low-leverage role out of the Miami bullpen once he's activated.
