  • Guardians' Tyler Beede: Clears waivers

The Guardians outrighted Beede to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday. After Cleveland designated him for assignment Friday and removed him from its 40-man roster, Beede will end up sticking around in the organization. The right-hander earned a spot in the Guardians' Opening Day bullpen but produced an ugly 8.36 ERA and 1.79 WHIP over 14 innings before getting demoted.

  • Guardians' Tyler Beede: DFA'd by Guardians

Beede was designated for assignment on Friday, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Beede has allowed 13 runs across eight innings in his last eight appearances, capped off by a five-run outing against the Astros on Thursday over one-third of an inning. His ERA has ballooned to 8.36 during that stretch after he opened up the season with six scoreless innings. Righty Peter Strzelecki was recalled in a corresponding move.

  • Guardians' Tyler Beede: Picks up extra-inning win

Beede (1-0) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk without striking out a batter over one inning, earning the extra-inning win Saturday over the Yankees. Beede gave up a two-run single to Anthony Rizzo in the top of the 10th inning, but the Guardians were able to rally with two hits, two fielder's choices and a sacrifice fly to pull off the comeback. Prior to this weekend's series, Beede had started the year with six scoreless innings over five outings. He allowed four runs (three earned) over his last two innings against a dangerous Yankees offense. The Guardians' bullpen has been a strength so far this season, and as long as Beede pitches well, he'll likely continue to contribute to that success as a middle reliever.

  • Guardians' Tyler Beede: Added to 40-man, active roster

The Guardians selected Beede's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. Cleveland opened up room for Beede on the 40-man roster by placing Trevor Stephan (elbow) on the 60-day injured list. The 30-year-old Beede is expected to work as a long reliever after striking out 12 while allowing six earned runs on 14 hits and five walks over 13 innings during Cactus League play.

  • Guardians' Tyler Beede: Nabs roster spot

Beede was informed Friday he made the Guardians' Opening Day roster, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. The right-hander signed with Cleveland as a non-roster invitee in January and earned a roster spot by posting a 1.69 ERA with a 10:4 K:BB over 10.2 frames in spring training. Beede spent last season pitching in Japan and had a 4.08 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 75 innings. He still needs to be officially added to the club's 26-man and 40-man rosters.

  • Guardians' Tyler Beede: Invited to Guardians' camp

Beede signed a minor-league contract with the Guardians on Saturday and received an invitation to major-league spring training, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports. Beede spent last season with the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball, putting up a 4.08 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 75 innings. His ERA jumps up to 5.34 in 187 career innings as a major-leaguer, and Beede will most likely begin 2024 at Triple-A Columbus.

  • Tyler Beede: Headed to Japan

Beede agreed to a contract with the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan on Dec. 5, Hochi Sports reports. It will be the first stint overseas for Beede, who has posted a 5.34 ERA over parts of four major league seasons. The former first-round pick will turn 30 in May.

  • Tyler Beede: Becomes free agent

Beede elected free agency Oct. 6. Beede found little success at the big-league level in 2022 between stints with the Giants and Pirates, submitting a 5.14 ERA and 1.63 WHIP while striking out just 39 batters over 61.1 innings. Though Beede once had some pedigree as a prospect, he's set to turn 30 years old in May and doesn't have much of a track record at the big-league level to fall back on. With that in mind, Beede might have to settle for a minor-league deal in free agency this winter.

  • Pirates' Tyler Beede: Outrighted to Triple-A

Beede was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports. After being designated for assignment by two different teams this season, Beede cleared waivers and is likely to end his season in Triple-A. Beede has covered 61.1 innings in 2022 with a 5.14 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. Once the minor league season wraps up, he will look to make another run at joining the big-league bullpen in 2023.

  • Pirates' Tyler Beede: Designated for assignment

Beede was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Thursday. Beede served exclusively as a reliever early in the season but drew five starts over the last several weeks. He wasn't particularly effective over the last month with a 7.78 ERA and 1.93 WHIP in 19.2 innings over seven appearances (five starts) since Aug. 8. He'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster in a corresponding move for Eric Stout being recalled from Indianapolis.

Beede (1-5) took the loss against Toronto on Friday's, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out one and walking one over three innings. Beede entered the contest in the fourth inning after opener Johan Oviedo left the game tied 0-0. Beede ended up tossing 26 of 47 pitches for strikes across three frames, but allowed two runs to score on a Santiago Espinal double. This was Beede's fourth straight loss. During that span, his ERA has gradually increased from 3.72 to where it now sits at 4.94.

Beede (1-4) took the loss Saturday, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks over three innings in a 6-0 loss against the Phillies. He struck out five. Beede surrendered a three-run double to catcher J.T. Realmuto in the first and later allowed a solo homer from outfielder Nick Castellanos. This marks the fifth start of 2022 for the righty, and he has yet to pitch more than four innings. The 29-year-old has allowed 12 runs over 10 innings during his current three-game losing streak.

Beede (1-3) took the loss Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk over four innings in a 10-1 loss to the Reds. He struck out two. Beede allowed a two-run double from Austin Romine in the fourth followed by a two-run homer from outfielder Jake Fraley later that inning. The righty spent most of the season as a reliever before being given a chance as a starter Aug. 3. The 29-year-old has now made four straight starts and recorded a shaky 7.50 ERA and 1.92 WHIP in 12 innings during that span.

  • Pirates' Tyler Beede: Loses to former team

Beede (1-2) allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three in three innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Giants. Beede worked up to 74 pitches, but he threw only 39 of them for strikes against his former team. A Joc Pederson RBI double in the first inning and LaMonte Wade's solo home run in the third accounted for the only runs in the game. Beede has given up six runs through eight innings across three starts in August. He owns a 3.72 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 30:23 K:BB in 48.1 innings between the Pirates and Giants this year. The right-hander is tentatively projected for a decent home start versus the Reds in his next outing, though he's unlikely to contend for wins until he can consistently complete five frames since he's not being used behind an opener.

  • Pirates' Tyler Beede: Turns in scoreless outing

Beede allowed two hits and a walk over 3.2 shutout innings in Monday's loss to Arizona. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision. It was a solid bounce back for Beede after he gave up four runs and was chased in the second inning in his last start against Milwaukee. The only extra-base hit he allowed was a two-out double by Christian Walker in the fourth inning. The 29-year-old lowered his season ERA to 3.57 with a 27:20 K:BB through 45.1 frames. As of now, Beede is projected to start in San Francisco this weekend.

  • Pirates' Tyler Beede: Struggles in first start

Beede gave up four earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings in an 8-7 win over the Brewers on Wednesday. He did not factor into the decision. Beede made his first start of the season after pitching well in a middle-relief role throughout the year. However, the experiment did not go as planned for the Pirates, and Beede was chased in the second inning after 42 pitches. It is unclear as to whether Beede will be given another opportunity to start or if manager Derek Shelton will hand the ball to someone else to replace the hole in the rotation left by Jose Quintana being shipped out at the trade deadline.

  • Pirates' Tyler Beede: Starting Wednesday

Beede will start Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. The right-hander has worked exclusively out of the bullpen for the Giants and Pirates this year, but he'll step into the rotation Wednesday after Pittsburgh traded away Jose Quintana. Beede covered three innings during his last appearance Sunday, so he shouldn't be expected to have a full starting workload. It's unclear if Pittsburgh plans to keep him in the rotation or if he'll shift back to the bullpen after Wednesday's outing.

Beede made six relief appearances for the Giants over the first month of the season, and he posted a 4.66 ERA and 2.07 WHIP in 9.2 innings. The 28-year-old will now lose his spot on the 40-man roster after giving up two runs in 1.1 innings during Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.

  • Giants' Tyler Beede: Allows two runs Wednesday

Beede surrendered two runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout over 1.1 innings in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to the Dodgers. Beede has allowed runs in four of his six outings this season, and he's given up multiple hits in each of his last five appearances. The right-hander now has a 4.66 ERA, 2.07 WHIP and 4:6 K:BB through 9.2 innings. He should continue to see only low-leverage work as he attempts to cut down on the number of baserunners he allows.
