Bellatti will join the active roster as a replacement for left-hander Jose Alvarado, who was placed on the IL with elbow inflammation. Bellatti missed a little over two weeks with right triceps tendinitis, but now that he's healthy again after tossing scoreless innings in both of his rehab appearances with Single-A Clearwater, he'll be a bridge option for the Phillies in the mid-to-late innings.

The move was made retroactive to Friday, so Bellatti will be eligible to return May 6, but it's unclear if he'll have a chance to make it back after a minimum-length stay. The righty gave up just two hits and zero runs in his first six appearances but allowed six runs on nine hits in his last four outings. It's possible those struggles were injury-related. Cristopher Sanchez (triceps) was activated off the injured list to take Bellati's place on the roster.
Bellatti walked one batter and struck out two in a scoreless inning while earning a save over the Reds on Monday.
Bellatti worked around a leadoff walk to finish the 4-1 win with little issue. It was his second save of the year and first since June 26. The 31-year-old lowered his ERA to 3.76 through 45 appearances. Bellatti is one of several Phillies that are expected to see some ninth-inning work while Seranthony Dominguez (triceps) is out.

Interim manager Rob Thomson didn't want to turn to his top relievers, Seranthony Dominguez and Brad Hand, due to heavy usage lately, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Bellatti was called upon instead, and he was able to lock down his first major-league save with 14 pitches (nine strikes). He entered the game in the top of the ninth inning in position to record his first career save, as the Phillies has already used Seranthony Dominguez and Brad Hand in the first game of the day. Bellatti sandwiched a Yadiel Hernandez single between a pair of strikeouts but was pulled for lefty Jose Alvarado with Juan Soto up and the game on the line.
