  • Twins' Adam Plutko: On IL with forearm injury

Pluko has been placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul with a forearm strain, TwinsDaily.com reports. Plutko had a 4.35 ERA in 12 starts and 60 IP at St. Paul with a 7.3 K/9. While his stats were not overwhelming, the Twins can't afford to lose depth after several injuries in the majors.

  • Twins' Adam Plutko: Gets minors deal from Minnesota

The Twins signed Plutko to a minor-league contract Friday. Plutko, 32, is coming off a terrific two-year stint in the Korea Baseball Organization, having collected a 2.40 ERA and 250:69 K:BB over 285.1 innings with the LG Twins. He's posted a 5.39 ERA across 88 appearances in parts of five major-league seasons, which kept him from getting a big-league contract even after his successful stint overseas. Plutko will head to Triple-A St. Paul.

  • Adam Plutko: Looking to return to MLB

Plutko is seeking a return to the majors after spending the last two seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Plutko, 32, just completed two excellent seasons with the LG Twins, posting a 2.40 ERA and 250:69 K:BB over 285.1 innings covering 49 starts. The right-hander held a 5.39 ERA across 88 appearances in the big leagues before heading to Korea, so it's not clear what kind of market awaits him.

  • Adam Plutko: Lands in KBO

Plutko signed with the LG Twins of Korea Baseball Organization on Thursday, Sung Min Kim of The Athletic reports. Plutko served as a reliever for the Orioles in 2021, posting a 6.71 ERA and 1.63 WHIP across 56.1 innings. After being designated for assignment in mid-August, it didn't appear that he would have significant opportunity in the major leagues moving forward. Instead, Plutko may have the chance to return to a starting role with the Twins, and he is set to make up to $800,000 on a one-year deal.

  • Orioles' Adam Plutko: Clears waivers

Plutko recently accepted an assignment to Triple-A Norfolk after clearing waivers, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports. Plutko was DFA'd after allowing 17 runs on seven homers across his last 8.1 innings with Baltimore. He'll stay with the organization after failing to garner interest on the waiver wire but will likely face an uphill battle to return to the major-league roster by the end of the season.

Plutko was designated for assignment Sunday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. Plutko has allowed a home run in each of his last five outings. In that span, he's given up 10 runs in 7.2 innings while striking out just four. • Orioles' Adam Plutko: Allows two runs Saturday

Plutko allowed two runs on two hits in one inning during Saturday's 5-3 win over Washington. The right-hander made just his second appearance since the All-Star break, so he may have been a bit rusty. Plutko allowed a solo home run to Juan Soto in the seventh inning, and he was also charged with one of two runs that scored on a Trea Turner single in the eighth allowed by Tanner Scott. Through 49 innings, Plutko has a 4.96 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 39:22 K:BB while allowing 11 homers in 33 appearances. He's often tasked with covering multiple low-leverage innings.

  • Orioles' Adam Plutko: Posts 2.2 scoreless innings

Plutko allowed three hits and a walk while striking out two over 2.2 scoreless innings in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the White Sox. Plutko has allowed just one run despite allowing eight hits and eight walks over his last 8.2 innings. While he's gotten a bit lucky lately, the right-hander owns a 4.72 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 39:21 K:BB through 47.2 innings overall. He's expected to continue serving as a multi-inning reliever in the second half of the season, and that role comes with little fantasy upside, especially on a struggling Orioles team.

  • Orioles' Adam Plutko: Collects first save

Plutko allowed a walk and no runs in two-thirds of an inning to earn the save in Monday's 9-7 win over Houston. Regular closer Paul Fry was deployed in the eighth inning of a tie game, but Baltimore rallied for five runs in the top of the ninth. Though Fry was inefficient in the ninth, Plutko was able to secure the last two outs while throwing just six pitches. The 29-year-old typically works in a multi-inning role -- Monday's save was his first of the year to go with five holds, two blown saves and a 1-2 record.

  • Orioles' Adam Plutko: Works 2.2 innings

Plutko allowed three runs on five hits and struck out two in 2.2 innings in a 9-0 loss to Toronto on Thursday. After starter Dean Kremer only managed to get one out, Plutko was brought in for a long-relief assignment. The 29-year-old wasn't much better, giving up a solo home run to Vladimir Guerrero and a pair of RBI doubles to Marcus Semien and Bo Bichette. All five of Plutko's appearances in June have been between two and three innings -- Baltimore appears to have him stretched out for at least a piggyback role when necessary, as he threw 49 pitches (34 strikes) Thursday. The right-hander owns a mediocre 5.54 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB across 39 innings.

Plutko allowed a run on three hits and struck out three across 2.1 innings in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to Cleveland. Overall, though, he's in the midst of a rough patch, having given up 19 runs (18 earned) in his last 12.1 innings spanning nine appearances. Plutko has a 5.61 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 29:12 K:BB and five holds across 33.2 innings spent mostly in a low-leverage bullpen role.

It wouldn't have mattered ultimately -- Jorge Polanco took Plutko deep with two outs to provide just enough insurance for Minnesota to win. The right-hander gave up 13 runs (12 earned) across 12.1 innings in May. For the year, he's produced a 4.61 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB across 27.1 innings. The 29-year-old Plutko has hit a rough patch with seven runs allowed in his last 3.2 innings, including a four-spot against the Yankees as an opener on May 16. He's posted a 3.57 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 14:10 K:BB across 22.2 innings overall with five holds, two blown saves and a win in 17 outings. • Orioles' Adam Plutko: Lasts one inning Sunday

Plutko allowed four runs on four hits and a walk in one inning in Sunday's win over the Yankees. He didn't factor into the decision. Plutko made his first start of the season Sunday, but he was unable to last past the first inning since he gave up a walk, two singles and a pair of home runs to begin the game. However, the Orioles scored 10 runs in the contest, which allowed Plutko to settle for a no-decision. The right-hander could make more starts later in the season, but he could also pitch as a reliever in his next outing.

  • Orioles' Adam Plutko: Starting Sunday against Yankees

Plutko will start for the Orioles against the Yankees on Sunday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports. This will be Plutko's 16th appearance and first start for Baltimore after he was traded from Cleveland shortly before Opening Day. His home-run rate this season is well below his career 1.89 HR/9 mark, and his 17.1 percent strikeout rate leaves a lot to be desired. Further, he hasn't gone more than three innings in an appearance this season, so it's difficult to see him qualifying for the win.

  • Orioles' Adam Plutko: Charged with blown save

Plutko allowed two inherited runners to score and allowed a hit and a walk in one inning to take a blown save Sunday versus Boston. He struck out one. Plutko can't be fully blamed for the blown save -- starter Dean Kremer allowed consecutive singles to begin the sixth inning before the call to the bullpen was made. Plutko allowed a two-run double to Rafael Devers, with the runs charged to Kremer. The 29-year-old Plutko has been solid this season with a 0.95 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB across 19 innings. He's a versatile option for manager Brandon Hyde, but he's picked up only three holds while often working in lower-leverage situations.

The 29-year-old right-hander is 1-0 with a 1.20 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 10:4 K:BB and three holds across 15 innings this season. Despite those sterling stats, Plutko isn't likely to work late in games; rather, he'll mostly see multi-inning assignments and perhaps some spot starts.
