  • Ryon Healy: Cut loose by Tampa Bay

The Rays released Healy on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Healy likely had the option of reporting to minor-league camp after he was informed he wouldn't make the Rays' Opening Day roster, but given the organization's considerable corner-infield depth at both the MLB and Triple-A levels, the 30-year-old may have decided he was better off pursuing opportunities elsewhere. Though he has a pair of 20-plus-homer seasons on his resume, Healy has logged just seven plate appearances in the majors over the past two years and underwhelmed with a .700 OPS during his 67-game stint in the Korea Baseball Organization in 2021.

  • Rays' Ryon Healy: Signs minors deal with Rays

Healy signed a minor-league contract with the Rays on Saturday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Healy has shown power but not enough else through parts of five MLB seasons, as his .261/.298/.450 slash line adds up to a 101 wRC+, a number which isn't good enough for a regular at a corner infield position. He left for Korea in an attempt to resuscitate his career last season, but he couldn't even last the full year with the Hanwha Eagles, who cut him after he hit .257/.306/.394 with just seven homers in 67 games. It's possible the Rays work their magic and turn him into a platoon bat, but the more likely outcome is he fails to make the team.

  • Ryon Healy: Heading to Korea

Kealy signed a contract with the Hanwha Eagles of the KBO on Saturday, Sung Min Kim of The Athletic reports. Healy spent 2020 with the Brewers but was at the alternate training site for most of the season, appearing in four games and going 1-for-7. The 28-year-old has a career .261/.298/.450 slash line with 69 home runs in 405 games over five big-league seasons.

  • Ryon Healy: Heads to open market

Healy elected free agency Monday. Healy will look for work with another organization this winter after he refused an outright assignment to Triple-A San Antonio upon clearing waivers a few days ago. The corner infielder appeared in four games with Milwaukee in 2020, logging seven at-bats.

  • Brewers' Ryon Healy: Outrighted to Triple-A

Healy cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A San Antonio on Friday. The 28-year-old finished the season on Milwaukee's active roster, but it's not much of a surprise to see him cast off the 40-man roster after appearing in only four games all season. Healy figures to receive an invite to big-league spring training and attempt to reclaim a spot on the roster.

  • Brewers' Ryon Healy: Rejoins big-league club

Healy was recalled from the alternate training site Friday. The 28-year-old had a brief stint on the active roster in early August but has otherwise been at the alternate training site all season. Healy went 1-for-6 during his brief action and had a .745 OPS in 2019.

  • Brewers' Ryon Healy: Sent to alternate site

  • Brewers' Ryon Healy: Recalled by Brewers

Healy was recalled by the Brewers on Monday. Healy narrowly missed out on a spot with the major-league club to begin the season, but he'll now head to the big leagues after working at the alternate training site. The 28-year-old should serve as infield depth for the Brewers after slashing .237/.289/.456 with seven home runs and 26 RBI over 47 games with the Mariners last year.

  • Brewers' Ryon Healy: Will compete for spot again

Healy will attend Summer Camp with the Brewers. Healy was optioned to Triple-A in mid-March, but he will get another chance to break camp with the big club, and will have better odds this time around with more roster spots available.

  • Brewers' Ryon Healy: Sent to minors

Healy was optioned to Triple-A San Antonio on Wednesday. The Brewers have evidently been making some roster decisions while the season remains in limbo, demoting Healy, Mark Mathias and Ronny Rodriguez and simplifying the competition for bench spots in the infield. Healy could still be up at some point this season and could be serviceable enough, as he owns a lopsided but respectable .261/.298/.452 slash line in 401 career big-league games.

  • Brewers' Ryon Healy: Serving as DH on Sunday

Healy (hip) is batting cleanup as the designated hitter in Sunday' Cactus League game against the Padres. Healy hasn't seen game action since May due to hip surgery, but it appears he's fully healthy entering spring training after joining the Brewers on a one-year deal. According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the 28-year-old is slated to take the field at first base in one of Milwaukee's split-squad games Monday.

  • Brewers' Ryon Healy: Signs with Brewers

Healy (hip) signed a one-year contract with the Brewers on Tuesday. Healy was relatively effective in his limited major-league opportunities in 2019, recording a .745 OPS with seven home runs and 26 RBI in 47 games. The 27-year-old could be limited in offseason training after undergoing hip surgery in August, but he is expected to be ready for spring training. Healy could compete for playing time in the corner infield spots in 2020.

  • Ryon Healy: Elects free agency

Healy elected free agency Tuesday after declining his outright assignment to Triple-A Tacoma. The 27-year-old missed most of the 2019 season with hip and back injuries, only appearing in 47 major-league games and hitting .237/.289/.456 with seven home runs and 26 RBI. Healy underwent hip surgery in early August, but his 4-to-6 month recovery timeline means that he could be ready for spring training if he is able to find a place on another major-league roster.

  • Mariners' Ryon Healy: Sent outright to Triple-A

Healy (hip) was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday. Healy underwent hip surgery in early August and ended the season on the 60-day injured list as a result. The Mariners are likely making room for prospects on the 40-man roster by outrighting Healy.

  • Mariners' Ryon Healy: May be ready for spring training

Healy (hip) is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 months after undergoing surgery Tuesday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. It was already known Healy would miss the remainder of the 2019 season, but he was previously without an official recovery timeline. The long end of that return timetable would have the 27-year-old ready to go in early February, so if everything goes smoothly, he could be cleared for the start of spring training.

  • Mariners' Ryon Healy: To undergo season-ending surgery

Healy is set to undergo season-ending hip surgery, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports. Healy hasn't taken the field since being placed on the injured list in May with lower-back inflammation, and his season will come to an end after visiting with a hip specialist. It remains to be seen whether he'll be ready for the start of spring training, though more information on Healy's status moving forward should become available following the procedure.

  • Mariners' Ryon Healy: Set to visit specialist

Healy (back) will visit a hip specialist Monday with the hope of gleaning more information about the setback he experienced in his rehab program earlier this month, Jen Mueller of Root Sports Northwest reports. Healy landed on the 10-day injured list back in late May with what was initially labeled as a lower-back inflammation. The injury proved to be more significant than the Mariners believed, as Healy required an epidural injection in mid-June to address the pain he was experiencing. Healy was then cleared to resume baseball activities just under two weeks ago but was quickly shut down after experiencing hip discomfort, which he believes is linked to the back injury. The visit with the specialist should provide more clarity on the matter while also giving Healy a better idea regarding when he might be ready to start working out again.

  • Mariners' Ryon Healy: Moved to 60-day IL

Healy (back/hip) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday. Healy has already been sidelined for more than 60 days, so this move is simply procedural. The 27-year-old recently suffered a setback in his rehab program and remains without a timetable for his return. In a corresponding move, Ryan Court had his contract selected from Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Mariners' Ryon Healy: Dealing with hip, back injuries

Healy (back) recently hit a setback in his rehab program after sustaining a hip injury and is without a timetable to resume baseball activities, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports. Healy has been on the shelf since May 20 due to a balky back and looks like he'll remain on the 60-day injured list for at least a couple more weeks, at minimum. The Mariners probably won't have a clear target date for Healy's return until he progresses to the point of going through full fielding drills and batting practice. Given that Seattle has already fallen out of playoff contention, expect the team to take a prudent approach with Healy.

  • Mariners' Ryon Healy: Cuts down on baseball activities

Healy (back) has temporarily backed off on some of the baseball activities he'd recently resumed due to general discomfort, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Healy had been cleared to resume baseball activities at the team's spring training facility in Peoria, Arizona back on July 12, but it appears his body isn't yet ready for the rigor. Given the latest setback, it remains to be seen whether a previously projected August return date remains realistic.
