  • Braves' Robert Suarez: Grabs $45 million deal from Atlanta

Atlanta signed Suarez to a three-year, $45 million contract Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Atlanta re-signed Raisel Iglesias to a one-year, $16 million contract earlier this offseason, but it wasn't done with high-leverage reliever additions. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic says Iglesias will remain the team's closer for the upcoming season, with Suarez settling into a setup role. Suarez has put up a 2.87 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 134:32 K:BB over 134.2 regular-season innings since the start of the 2024, collecting 76 saves along the way.

  • Robert Suarez: Opts out, becomes free agent

Suarez became a free agent after opting out of his contract Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Suarez had an $8 million player option in 2026 and 2027, but he will forgo those and enter the free-agent market. The 34-year-old led the National League with 40 saves in 2025 and boasts a 2.87 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 134:32 K:BB over 134.2 regular-season innings since the start of the 2024 campaign. Suarez should have no trouble landing a sizeable contract this offseason to serve as a closer.

  • Padres' Robert Suarez: Secures Game 2 save

Suarez gave up one hit over 1.1 scoreless innings to pick up the save in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Cubs.

A great catch in right field from Fernando Tatis allowed Suarez to record the final out of the eighth inning on just three pitches. The 34-year-old right-hander then came back out to handle the ninth and gave up a one-out single to Kyle Tucker before inducing a double play from Seiya Suzuki to end the game. Suarez led the National League with 40 saves during the regular season and figures to have a firm grip on the ninth inning as long as the Padres remain in the postseason.

  • Padres' Robert Suarez: Reaches 40-save milestone

Suarez struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn a save against the White Sox on Sunday.

Suarez needed just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to mow through the White Sox's 2-3-4 hitters. He hit the 40-save mark for the first time in his career and has converted eight straight chances. During that span, he's registered a 2.45 ERA over 18.1 innings. For the year, Suarez owns a 3.06 ERA and a 72:16 K:BB through 67.2 frames.

  • Padres' Robert Suarez: Earns save No. 39

Suarez earned the save in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Mets, allowing a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning.

Tasked with protecting a three-run lead, Suarez worked around a leadoff single to Brett Baty and a two-out walk to Francisco Lindor, but he held firm to lock down the win for San Diego. The right-hander has been reliable in September, posting a 2.61 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB across 10.1 innings, converting four consecutive saves in that stretch. The 34-year-old is now just one save away from becoming the fifth Padres closer ever to reach the 40-save milestone, and he sits only one behind Carlos Estevez for the MLB lead.

  • Padres' Robert Suarez: Converts 38th save

Suarez struck out three without allowing a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Rockies.

One batter reached on an error, but Suarez was able to overcome that to log his 38th save of the year. The right-hander has posted an 11:1 K:BB over 8.1 innings in September, though he has allowed three runs, including two home runs in that span. Suarez is now at a 3.06 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 70:15 K:BB through 64.2 innings this season and remains firmly in control of the closer role for the Padres.

  • Padres' Robert Suarez: Picks up 37th save

Suarez struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Thursday's 2-0 win over the Rockies.

Suarez has allowed three runs over 7.1 innings in September, but this was his third clean appearance of the month. The Padres haven't generated a ton of save chances lately, which has led to Suarez slipping to second in the majors with 37 saves, two behind Kansas City's Carlos Estevez. Suarez is now at a 3.11 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 67:15 K:BB through 63.2 innings this season.
