  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Tallies first save of 2026

Morejon earned the save in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Rockies, striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning.

Although Mason Miller and the Padres had an off day Monday, manager Craig Stammen opted to go with Morejon to close things out for Tuesday's low-scoring contest. That was likely due to Edouard Julien and Mickey Moniak -- both left-handed batters -- being the first two up to the plate in the frame, and the southpaw Morejon ended up striking out both before getting Hunter Goodman to fly out to center field. Morejon has not yielded a run or a hit in any of his last four outings, striking out seven batters while issuing just one walk over that five-inning span. It's been a nice turnaround from how he opened the season (10.80 ERA and 2.40 WHIP over 6.2 innings).

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Collects hold in Thursday's win

Morejon secured a hold Thursday, working 1.2 perfect innings with two strikeouts in a 5-2 win over the Mariners.

Morejon has had a bumpy start to the season after his All-Star campaign in 2025, when he pitched in 75 games and had career-best marks in ERA (2.08) and WHIP (0.90). The southpaw came into the season as the set-up guy for dominant closer Mason Miller and has three holds in eight appearances so far, but Morejon allowed at least one run in four of his first six outings. San Diego seems to still have faith in him, however, given he's been used in high-leverage situations each of his past two games.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Settles with San Diego

The Padres and Morejon avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.9 million contract Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

It was the final year of arbitration eligibility for Morejon, who is slated to become a free agent next offseason. The left-hander has posted a 2.42 ERA and 141:38 K:BB over 137.1 regular-season innings as a full-time reliever since the start of the 2024 campaign. He'll again serve in a high-leverage role in 2026.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Will stay in relief role

Padres manager Craig Stammen said Monday that Morejon will remain in the bullpen next season, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

Morejon has past starting experience and the Padres had considered moving him into their rotation in 2026. However, it's been decided to keep the lefty in a relief role instead. Morejon has posted a 2.42 ERA and 141:38 K:BB over 137.1 regular-season innings as a full-time reliever since the start of the 2024 campaign. The Padres are also keeping Mason Miller in a relief role, so Morejon likely won't see many, if any, save chances unless Miller gets injured.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Move into rotation not ruled out

Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller said Tuesday that the organization will have conversations soon about the possibility of moving Morejon into the starting rotation in 2026, 97.3 The Fan reports.

Morejon boasts a 2.42 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 141:38 K:BB over 137.1 regular-season innings as a full-time reliever since the start of the 2024 campaign. He was often used as a starting pitcher earlier in his career, though, and the Padres could have a clear need in the rotation next season if Dylan Cease and Michael King depart in free agency. San Diego is also mulling shifting Mason Miller into the rotation.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Secures third save

Morejon struck out two over 1.1 perfect innings to earn the save in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Dodgers.

Morejon got the last out in the top of the eighth inning and remained in the game for the ninth after the Padres padded their lead. Both Robert Suarez and Mason Miller pitched Thursday and Friday, so Morejon likely would have been in contention for a more conventional save opportunity anyway. He's on a 10-inning scoreless streak with a 10:2 K:BB in that span. For the season, Morejon has maintained a stellar 1.81 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 60:12 K:BB over 59.2 innings while adding three saves, 18 holds, three blown saves and a 9-4 record as one of the Padres' top relievers.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Picks up seventh win

Morejon (7-3) earned the win over Arizona on Thursday, allowing one hit and walking one batter while notching two strikeouts over 1.2 scoreless innings.

Starter Randy Vasquez lasted just 4.1 frames, and Morejon took over with two Diamondbacks on base and one out in the fifth. The left-hander got out of the jam by striking out Josh Naylor and getting Eugenio Suarez to pop out, then tossed a scoreless sixth despite allowing two baserunners. Morejon was credited with the win -- his seventh of the campaign, most among MLB relief pitchers -- as the Padres held on to claim a 4-3 victory. While bullpen mates Robert Suarez and Jason Adam are going to the All-Star Game for their first-half accomplishments, there's an argument to be made that Morejon is just as deserving. In addition to the seven wins, he's posted a dominant 1.71 ERA and 0.83 WHIP along with a 39:9 K:BB while notching two saves and 12 holds over 45 appearances spanning 42 innings.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Grabs save Wednesday

Morejon earned the save in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Nationals, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

With Robert Suarez serving a suspension, the Padres turned to Morejon in the ninth inning Wednesday to close out a one-run victory. The left-hander made quick work of the Nats, retiring the side on just seven pitches, to earn his second save this season. Morejon has been dominant of late, allowing just one unearned run in his last 15.2 innings -- he's given up three hits while striking out 17 in that span. His ERA is down to 2.04 with a 0.82 WHIP and 33:6 K:BB across 35.1 innings this season. However, with Suarez eligible to return Saturday, Morejon figures to remain in a setup role moving forward.
