  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Throws six strong innings

Gore (9-12) picked up the win Sunday against Miami, allowing one unearned run on two hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out five.

A fielding error by Jacob Young allowed Jhonny Pereda to reach base in the third inning, and Pereda eventually came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Jake Burger. The Nationals' subpar defense has hampered Gore's fantasy production, with 11 unearned runs being scored across the left-hander's last seven starts. In 153.1 innings, Gore has a 4.17 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP with a 163:61 K:BB. He's tentatively scheduled for a road start against the Cubs next weekend.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Early exit in Tuesday's loss

Gore (8-12) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up seven runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks over 3.2 innings as the Nationals were routed 12-0 by Atlanta. He struck out three.

Some shaky defense by the Nats, including an error by Jose Tena and a catcher's interference call on Keibert Ruiz, helped soften the blow to Gore's ERA, but it was still a hard fall back to Earth for the southpaw after he'd delivered three straight quality starts. Since the beginning of August, Gore has a 1.57 WHIP and 36:15 K:BB through 36.1 innings while serving up five homers, but only a 3.72 ERA thanks to 11 total unearned runs. He lines up to pitch at home this weekend against the Marlins.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Sharp in no-decision

Gore came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Marlins, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over six innings. He struck out nine.

The southpaw retired the first 16 batters he faced, but a walk followed by a Nick Fortes RBI double ended any shot at history Gore might have had. The quality start was his eighth of the season, tying the career high he set in 2023, and he seems to have turned things around after a rough patch coming out of the All-Star break -- over his last three outings, all quality starts, Gore has a 2.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 19:2 K:BB in 18 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week against Atlanta.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Tames Yankees for eighth victory

Gore (8-11) earned the win over the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six batters over six innings.

Gore racked up 14 whiffs and finished with just his second victory over his past 13 starts. The southpaw allowed a second-inning solo homer to Jazz Chisholm but gave up just one additional run from that point on. Gore had an 11-start stretch without a quality start between mid-June and mid-August, during which he posted a 6.75 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB over 50.2 innings. He may be turning things around, however, as he's now notched consecutive quality starts, allowing just three runs while registering a 10:1 K:BB across 12 frames over that span.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Delivers quality start

Gore allowed a run on seven hits over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out four during the extra-inning loss against Atlanta.

Gore gave up a solo homer to Michael Harris on the second pitch he threw but looked strong otherwise. It was the first time since July 1 that Gore gave up fewer than three runs in a start. He also turned in his first quality start since June 14. The southpaw posted a 2.91 ERA through the end of May but has registered a 5.79 ERA since. For the year, Gore is 7-11 with a 4.51 ERA and a 140:54 K:BB through 26 starts. He's currently lined up for a home tilt against the Yankees next week.

  • Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Struggles continue Saturday

Gore (7-11) took the loss Saturday, coughing up five runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.2 innings as the Nationals were downed 5-1 by the Phillies. He struck out six.

The southpaw held a 3.24 ERA after a June 14 win over the Marlins, but since then Gore's campaign has gone completely off the rails. He's been tagged for at least five runs in three straight starts and six of his last 11, going 1-6 over that stretch with a 6.75 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB in 50.2 innings. While his control hasn't been sharp, he's also been somewhat unlucky given his .370 BABIP on the year, and his 4.66 ERA is outpacing his 3.62 FIP by a wide margin. Gore will try to find a way to stop the bleeding in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Atlanta.
