  • Padres' Jase Bowen: Swipes two bags Monday

Bowen went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases in Monday's 6-2 win against Cincinnati.

Bowen logged his second straight start in right field, with Fernando Tatis again handling the keystone. The Padres got a lot of production from the bottom of their order, including from Bowen, who notched his first multi-hit game as a big-leaguer and reached base three times. He also stole his first two bases, flashing the above-average speed that is a big part of his skill set. Bowen has swiped 20-plus bags in the minors every year since 2022, so he could be an asset in that regard if he plays often enough and is able to consistently reach base.

  • Padres' Jase Bowen: Absent from lineup

Bowen is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Philadelphia.

Bowen was called up Tuesday and started the last two games for the Padres, going 1-for-7 with four strikeouts. He'll take a seat for Thursday's series finale as the Padres go with Gavin Sheets and Bryce Johnson as their corner outfielders.

  • Padres' Jase Bowen: Called up, debuting Tuesday

The Padres selected Bowen's contract from Triple-A El Paso, and he's starting in left field and batting seventh Tuesday against the Phillies.

The 25-year-old is taking the place of Ramon Laureano (hip), who was placed on the injured list Tuesday. Bowen will be making his MLB debut and has a decent path to playing time due to Laureano being hurt and Nick Castellanos struggling to a .560 OPS. Bowen has a .292/.362/.600 slash line with 13 home runs and seven steals in 49 games with El Paso this year.

  • Padres' Jase Bowen: Bound for big leagues

The Padres are expected to call up Bowen from Triple-A El Paso prior to Tuesday's game in Philadelphia, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.

The 25-year-old Bowen will receive his first promotion to the majors after a strong start to the season at El Paso, with whom he's produced a .292/.362/.600 slash line to go with 13 home runs and seven steals across 222 plate appearances. Even when factoring in the hitter-friendly conditions of the Pacific Coast League, Bowen was still an above-average performer at the Triple-A level with a 121 wRC+. While the right-handed-hitting Bowen may see most of his opportunities against left-handed pitching initially, the Padres rank 29th in the majors with a .294 wOBA as a team, so he could eventually get a look as a full-time player if he gets off to a hot start in the big leagues.
