The Nationals recalled Palmquist from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Nationals' Carson Palmquist: Called up, will serve as opener
The Nationals recalled Palmquist from Triple-A Rochester, and he'll serve as the team's opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.
Though he'll eventually settle into the Washington bullpen, Palmquist will be making his team debut in a starting role. The Nationals are likely counting on the left-handed Palmquist to cover the first inning or two, hoping that he can limit the effectiveness of a Philadelphia lineup that typically features two left-handed hitters in Kyle Schwarber (back) and Bryce Harper in the top three spots. Right-hander Miles Mikolas will take over in bulk relief once Palmquist exits the contest.

Nationals' Carson Palmquist: Joining Nationals bullpen
The Nationals will recall Palmquist from Triple-A Rochester prior to Wednesday's game versus the Phillies, Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan reports.
Palmquist will give the Nationals some length in the bullpen after the club needed seven relievers to get through Tuesday's loss to Philadelphia. The left-hander was acquired from the Rockies last month and has collected a 6.00 ERA and 30:22 K:BB over 36 innings at the Triple-A level in 2026.

He has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A, where he has a 7.20 ERA, 2.04 WHIP and 24:19 K:BB across 25 innings. Palmquist was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Thursday.
Palmquist has posted an inflated 7.20 ERA and 2.16 WHIP over 25 innings in 12 appearances, including five starts, with Triple-A Albuquerque this season. If he clears waivers, he'll likely remain with the Triple-A squad. The move was made in order to create a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Chad Stevens, who had his contract selected Thursday.

The Rockies optioned Palmquist (shin) to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
The 25-year-old was a bit behind schedule early in camp due to a shin injury, but he returned to make a couple Cactus League last Sunday and Thursday. Palmquist struggled to an 8.91 ERA and 27:25 K:BB over nine appearances in his first taste of the majors last season.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Delayed by shin soreness
Palmquist is a bit behind schedule after being hit on the shin by a line drive, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Palmquist is expected to be fine, but the issue has slightly delayed his ramp-up. The left-hander tossed a scoreless inning in his Cactus League debut last week. He is in the mix for a spot in the Rockies' rotation, but Palmquist's best shot to make the team might be as a long reliever.

The Rockies optioned Palmquist to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
Palmquist really struggled in two relief appearances during his most recent stint in the majors, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and seven walks over 3.2 innings. He'll likely go back into the rotation at Albuquerque.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Rejoins big club
The Rockies recalled Palmquist from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
With Colorado trading Jake Bird and Tyler Kinley prior to Thursday's deadline, Palmquist will come back up to reinforce the pitching staff. The left-handed Palmquist has worked exclusively as a starter at the big-league level so far in his career, but he has struggled to a 7.63 ERA and 1.73 WHIP, and it's possible he works as more of a swingman this time around.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Sent to Triple-A
The Rockies optioned Palmquist to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.
Palmquist has made seven starts across his two stints in the majors this season, and he'll head back to Triple-A with a 7.63 ERA and 22:18 K:BB across 30.2 innings with the Rockies. Kyle Freeland (back) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list later this week to replace Palmquist in the rotation, according to Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Lasts four innings against Arizona
Palmquist allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.
Palmquist gave up a run in each of the first three innings, including a solo home run to Eugenio Suarez in the third. Palmquist has completed five innings just once in seven outings, and he was pulled at 62 pitches (39 strikes) in this start. Overall, he has a poor 7.63 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 22:18 K:BB over 30.2 innings. He's still in search of his first major-league win, and he'll need to be more efficient, especially in cutting back the free passes, to get a realistic shot at a victory. Palmquist is not guaranteed another turn through the rotation if Kyle Freeland (back) is ready to return from the injured list when first eligible Friday.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Receiving another start
Palmquist is slated to start Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks at Coors Field.
The rookie will pick up a second turn through the rotation after being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to serve as a replacement for lefty Kyle Freeland (back), who was placed on the injured list last weekend. While stepping in for Freeland in Monday's 6-4 win over the Nationals, Palmquist took a no-decision and gave up four earned runs on four hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. Over his six starts this season with the Rockies, Palmquist owns a 7.76 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 18:16 K:BB in 26.2 innings.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Moving into rotation
The Rockies recalled Palmquist from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.
He was just optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, but Palmquist will rejoin the Rockies in short order and reclaim a spot in the rotation after Kyle Freeland (back) was placed on the 15-day IL. Palmquist will start Monday on the road against the Nationals, and he'll tentatively line up for a second start later in the week versus the Diamondbacks at Coors Field. Though he's regarded as one of the better pitching prospects in a thin system, he went 0-4 with a 7.77 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over his first five starts with Colorado and won't make for an appealing streaming option in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Sent back to minors
The Rockies optioned Palmquist to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.
Palmquist struggled in his first five starts at the major-league level, collecting a 7.77 ERA and 16:13 K:BB across 22 innings of work. The left-hander's demotion to Albuquerque suggests that Austin Gomber (shoulder) could be ready to return from the 60-day injured list to take the hill the next time a fifth starter is needed Sunday in Atlanta.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Logs four innings
Palmquist did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over four innings against the Giants. He struck out two.
The left-hander was removed in the fifth inning after surrendering a home run to Willy Adames and issuing a walk to Heliot Ramos. Despite Palmquist completing just four innings, allowing only two runs made this one of his better outings of the season. Through five starts, the 24-year-old owns a 7.77 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over 22 innings.

Rockies' Carson Palmquist: Not starting Saturday
Palmquist is no longer scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Mets, as German Marquez will instead receive the start for Colorado.
Per Christian Saez of TheDNVR.com, Palmquist isn't dealing with an injury -- instead, there was simply a miscommunication in lining up the rotation. Chase Dollander is now slated to start Sunday, so it's unclear when Palmquist will take his next turn as a starter.
