Twins' Jhoan Duran: Allows run but grabs save
Duran allowed a run on three hits and struck out two over one inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Angels.

The right-hander is now at a 4.10 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 56:13 K:BB while racking up 23 saves through 48.1 innings this year.

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Implodes in eighth inning
Duran (6-9) took the loss Saturday versus the Royals, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and a hit batsman while striking out one over one-third of an inning.
Duran avoided the blown save, but he set the stage for the Twins' collapse by allowing three of the first four batters he faced to reach base. Griffin Jax couldn't slow the Royals, ultimately allowing two inherited runners to score. Duran has been charged with multiple runs in four of his 19 appearances since the All-Star break, permitting 15 runs (10 earned) over 16.2 innings in that span. He's now at a 3.80 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 54:13 K:BB while collecting 22 saves and five holds through 47.1 innings this season.

Duran got the save in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Rays, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

The 26-year-old closer is now 22-for-24 in save opportunities this season with a 3.45 ERA.

For the year, the 26-year-old has a 3.60 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 50:13 K:BB in 45 innings.

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Notches 19th save
Duran gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his 19th save of the season in a 2-0 win over the Blue Jays.
A leadoff single got erased on a game-ending double play, and Duran generated plenty of weak contact while firing eight straight pitches at 100 mph or over to begin the frame. The Twins' closer is prone to occasional lapses and was scored upon four times in 11 August appearances, but he also posted a 15:1 K:BB in 9.2 innings on the month.

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Falls apart in extras
Duran (6-8) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up four runs (three earned) on four hits in one-third of an inning in an 8-6 extra-inning loss to Atlanta. He struck out one.
Called in for the top of the 10th inning in a 4-4 tie, Duran gave up a double to Marcell Ozuna to lead off the frame and never found his footing. The Twins' closer has been tagged for runs in six of 14 appearances since the All-Star break, stumbling to a 5.84 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over that stretch despite a 20:3 K:BB in 12.1 innings. Duran's recent struggles seem largely due to bad luck -- his average exit velocity allowed on the season sits in the 91st percentile, while his groundball rate is in the 98th percentile.
