Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in the 8-2 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Hernandez extended the lead to 8-2 in the sixth with a crushing long ball to left-center off of Lake Bachar, his first homer in 10 games and 17th on the season. Hernandez had been mired in a 4-for-37 (.108 batting average) slump coming into Wednesday.
Hernandez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Pirates.
Hernandez started the previous four games and homered in Wednesday's contest, but he'll retreat to the bench for Thursday's series finale. Esteury Ruiz will occupy left field for Miami.

Though his playing-time outlook appeared to have worsened after Owen Caissie returned from the injured list Saturday, Hernandez looks poised to remain a near-everyday player for the Marlins after Liam Hicks was traded to the Rays on Monday. Dating back to July 8, Hernandez has started in all but one of the Marlins' 22 games and has produced a .761 OPS during that span.
Hernandez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Unless the Marlins lose a corner outfielder to an injury or trade, Hernandez could have to settle for a part-time role against right-handed pitching. Hernandez had started every game dating back to July 8 while producing a .732 OPS during that span, but he looks to be the odd man out of the everyday lineup following Owen Caissie's return from the injured list Saturday.
