Dodgers' Seth Halvorsen: Traded to Dodgers
The Dodgers acquired Halvorsen (shoulder) from the Rockies on Monday in exchange for Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Halvorsen is currently on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, but he began a rehab assignment Sunday. Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Dodgers intend to assign Halvorsen to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Halvorsen is one of the hardest-throwing relievers in baseball with an average four-seamer velocity of 98.8 mph, but he's struggled to gain traction at the big-league level with a 4.31 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 66:38 K:BB over 71 innings. The Dodgers will try to coax more out of the 26-year-old.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Makes rehab appearance
Halvorsen (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, permitting two hits in a scoreless inning.
Halvorsen has been shelved for all of July due to right shoulder inflammation. He shouldn't require too many more rehab outings, though it's not a given that Halvorsen is reinstated to the big-league roster once he's physically ready.

Halvorsen is on the mend from shoulder inflammation that sent him to the injured list July 4. He's started to make significant progress after receiving a cortisone injection, and the Rockies are optimistic that he'll be able to begin a rehab assignment in the near future. A more definitive timeline for his return to Colorado's bullpen will likely emerge once he begins pitching in minor-league games.

The Rockies placed Halvorsen on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to July 1, due to right shoulder inflammation.
Halvorsen's most recent call-up to the big club didn't go well, as he yielded four runs on seven hits with a 1:1 K:BB over 2.2 innings spanning three appearances. He'll now be sidelined at least through the All-Star break because of a shoulder issue. Starter Tomoyuki Sugano (back) also landed on the IL on Saturday, while Sean Sullivan was called up from Albuquerque and veteran reliever Jordan Romano had his contract selected from the same Triple-A club.

The Rockies recalled Halvorsen from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
Colorado sent Halvorsen back to Triple-A on June 17, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the big club a week later after right-hander Jaden Hill (shoulder) was moved to the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. The Rockies will likely limit Halvorsen to lower-leverage spots during his upcoming stint in the big leagues; the reliever has posted a 3.31 ERA in 16.1 innings with Colorado this season but has walked nearly as many batters (14) as he's struck out (16).

The Rockies optioned Halvorsen to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
Halvorsen has turned in a 3.31 ERA through 16.1 innings with the Rockies this season, but he'll end up as the odd man out of Colorado's bullpen following Jimmy Herget's (shoulder) return from the injured list. Based on the results Halvorsen has gotten in both the majors and at Triple-A (2.45 ERA in 14.2 IP), he's a safe bet to rejoin the Rockies at some point when the team needs a fresh arm.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Charged with blown save
Halvorsen blew the save in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs. He allowed two inherited runners to score on a hit and a walk without recording an out.
Entering with the bases loaded, no outs and the Rockies clinging to a one-run lead in the ninth inning, Halvorsen gave up an RBI single to Pedro Ramirez before walking Matt Shaw to bring in the game-winning run. While the runs were charged to Juan Mejia's line and he was saddled with the loss, Halvorsen was credited with the blown save in his first save situation of the season. The right-hander has split time between Triple-A Albuquerque and Colorado in 2026, posting a 3.31 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 16:14 K:BB across 16.1 innings with the big-league club.

The hard-throwing righty entered spring training as a candidate to serve as the Rockies' closer, but he struggled mightily in Cactus League play, allowing 12 runs with an ugly 4:12 K:BB over five innings of work. Halvorsen could still play an important role in Colorado's bullpen this season, but he'll work on honing his craft at Triple-A Albuquerque for a while. Victor Vodnik is the favorite to open the season as the Rockies' closer, but it's a bullpen situation fantasy managers would be best off avoiding.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Faces hitters Monday
Halvorsen (elbow) tossed a live batting practice session Monday.
Halvorsen looks to be free of restrictions in the opening weeks of spring training after he didn't pitch after Aug. 2 last season due to a mild right elbow flexor strain. Prior to getting injured, Halvorsen had seemingly established himself as the Rockies' preferred closer, though his numbers (4.99 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, 36:21 K:BB, 11 saves in 14 chances over 39.2 innings) weren't overly remarkable. Even so, Halvorsen still looks like one of the best bets for saves in Colorado entering 2026, given his raw abilities along with the lack of reliable alternatives in the Rockies bullpen. Halvorsen ranked third in the majors last season with an average fastball velocity of 100.0 miles per hour, and his 13.1 percent swinging-strike rate and 54.4 percent groundball rate offer hope that he'll be able to raise his strikeout rate and improve his ERA and WHIP.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Resumes throwing
Halvorsen (elbow) has resumed throwing from 60 feet and is hoping to return from the injured list prior to the end of the season, MLB.com reports.
This marks Halvorsen's first notable progress since he was sidelined in early August with an elbow injury. He hopes to pitch in a game before the season is over, but Halvorsen is expected to be at full strength shortly after the campaign ends if he cannot return.
