  • Orioles' Livan Soto: Sent back to minors

The Orioles optioned Soto to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. Soto was deemed expendable as the Orioles get a couple infielders back from the injured list in Jordan Westburg (hand) and Ramon Urias (ankle). He's put up an .862 OPS in 12 games during his time with Baltimore in 2024.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: Back on bench Wednesday

Soto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants. Soto had started at second base in each of the previous three games, but he'll give way to Jackson Holliday on Wednesday. Holliday's ongoing struggles at the plate have opened the door for Soto to pick up playing time, with the latter going 3-for-8 with a double and walk over his three starts.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: Back in majors

The Orioles recalled Soto from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Soto will provide some depth while the Orioles are without three key infielders (Jordan Westburg, Jorge Mateo and Ryan Mountcastle) due to injuries. It's the third stint with Baltimore this season for Soto, who did not see any action the first two times around.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: Headed back to minors

The Orioles optioned Soto to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Emmanuel Rivera, who has officially reported to the club after being claimed off waivers. Soto has had two brief stints with the Orioles this season but has yet to appear in a game.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: Recalled from Triple-A

The Orioles recalled Soto from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday. Soto was acquired from the Reds at the trade deadline but has yet to see any action with the Orioles. He'll provide more defensive versatility than the player he will replace on the roster in Coby Mayo, who was optioned to Triple-A.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: Headed to majors

The Orioles will recall Soto from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. With Jordan Westburg set to miss an extended period of time after being diagnosed with a fractured hand Wednesday, the Orioles will call upon Soto to replenish their infield depth. The 24-year-old was acquired from the Reds on Tuesday, and he has slashed .279/.378/.375 with 39 RBI across 329 plate appearances in Triple-A this season. Jackson Holliday and Gunnar Henderson will likely start most days at second base and shortstop, respectively, while Westburg is out. However, Soto could pick up an occasional start whenever one of the regular starters receives a day off.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: Joins Baltimore

The Orioles acquired Soto and outfielder Austin Slater from the Reds on Tuesday in exchange for cash, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Soto was designated for assignment earlier in the day by the Reds, but the Orioles -- who claimed Soto on April 11 only to DFA him five days later -- swooped in and got him at the deadline. Given that Soto has minor-league options remaining, he will likely stick with Triple-A Norfolk for the time being.

  • Reds' Livan Soto: Removed from 40-man roster

The Reds designated Soto for assignment Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Soto was moved off the 40-man roster after the Reds acquired right-hander Jakob Junis and outfielder Joey Weimer from the Brewers while sending right-hander Frankie Montas to Milwaukee. The 24-year-old Soto had gone hitless in three plate appearances during his brief time with the Reds this season.

  • Reds' Livan Soto: Optioned to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Soto to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. Soto's latest stint in the majors lasted just a couple days and he didn't appear in a game. • Reds' Livan Soto: Optioned to Louisville

The Reds optioned Soto to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. With Noelvi Marte making his return from an 80-game suspension, Soto will be pushed back into the minors. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout during his season debut Wednesday and owns a .767 OPS through 230 plate appearances in Triple-A. Should the Reds run into any more infield depth problems, there's a good chance Soto would be the one to get the call back Cincinnati.

Soto served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Pirates. Soto made his first appearance for the Reds since being recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. With Noelvi Marte (suspension) expected to be reinstated Thursday, Soto could return to Louisville.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: DFA'd by O's

The Orioles designated Soto for assignment Tuesday. Soto has now been designated for assignment four times since the beginning of February -- twice by both the Orioles and Angels. He'll go through the waiver process and could perhaps draw interest from the Halos again, or another organization may be willing to take a chance on the 23-year-old infielder.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: Back in Baltimore

The Orioles claimed Soto off waivers from the Angels on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk. Since early February, Soto has gone from the Angels to the Orioles, back to the Angels and then back to the Orioles via the waiver process. Soto has managed a .375/.414/.531 batting line in 71 career plate appearances, but his .244/.339/.331 line from the minors is a better representation of his talent level. The 23-year-old will provide organizational infield depth for Baltimore.

  • Angels' Livan Soto: Returns to Halos

Soto was claimed off waivers by the Angels on Sunday. The 23-year-old was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Friday and will now return to the Angels, who also designated him for assignment in early February. Soto is now back on the Halos' 40-man roster and will provide middle-infield depth.

  • Orioles' Livan Soto: DFA'd by Baltimore

Soto was designated for assignment by Baltimore on Friday. Soto was claimed off waivers from the Angels last week but didn't stick on the Orioles' 40-man roster for long. The 23-year-old appeared in four big-league games last season and had a .700 OPS over 477 plate appearances at Triple-A.

  • Angels' Livan Soto: Departs 40-man roster

Soto was designated for assignment by the Angels on Saturday, Taylor Blake Ward of The Sporting Tribune reports. Soto has managed a .946 OPS over 71 plate appearances at the major-league level, but a .670 OPS in the minors is closer to his real ability. The 23-year-old offers a solid glove at multiple infield positions, so it's possible he'll draw some interest on waivers.

  • Angels' Livan Soto: Demoted to Double-A

The Angels moved Soto from Triple-A Salt Lake to Double-A Rocket City on Tuesday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. The 22-year-old infielder looked to be something special during the brief time he spent in the majors last season, slashing .400/.414/.582 through 59 plate appearances. However, a slow start in Triple-A (.554 OPS) through 13 games has derailed any potential plans for Soto to rejoin the Angels anytime soon. If he's able to get things going in Double-A, there's a good chance he might get the call to return to Salt Lake relatively quickly.

  • Angels' Livan Soto: Productive from leadoff spot

Soto went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Monday's extra-inning loss to the Athletics. The 22-year-old has exploded onto the scene for the Angels over the last few weeks, and he kept it going with a strong game batting out of the leadoff spot Monday. Soto's multi-hit effort was his eighth over his last 10 games, during which he is 18-for-36. Soto will likely come back to earth next season, as he sports an unsustainable BABIP north of .500, but he will be worth keeping an eye on to see if he earns regular playing time.
