  • Mets' Matt Allan: Undergoes another elbow surgery

Allan underwent UCL revision surgery in January, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Allan underwent Tommy John surgery in May of 2021, and he's now undergoing effectively the same procedure. This marks his third elbow surgery in a span of 21 months, as he also underwent a cleanup procedure in January of 2022. Toss in the fact that the 2020 minor-league season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and it means that Allan is about to face his fourth consecutive season without pitching in a game.

  • Mets' Matt Allan: Should pitch late in 2022

Allan (elbow) is expected to pitch in minor-league games by the end of the 2022 season, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

It was originally reported Allan would miss the entire campaign after undergoing a second elbow procedure in January, but the right-hander is apparently looking at a late-season return instead. The 20-year-old originally underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2021 and then had the cleanup procedure last month, which pushed back his rehab timeline. A 2019 third-round pick, Allan has only six minor-league games under his belt due to the injury last year and the lost season in 2020.

  • Mets' Matt Allan: Unlikely to pitch in 2022

Allan (elbow) had a second surgery on his right elbow in January and isn't expected to see game action in 2022, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Allan underwent Tommy John surgery in May and required a follow-up procedure last month, and he's not expected to see game action this year following the setback. The 2019 third-round pick is one of the Mets' top prospects, but he has only six minor-league games under his belt due to the injury last year and the lost season in 2020.

  • Mets' Matt Allan: Set for Tommy John surgery

Allan will undergo Tommy John surgery after an MRI revealed a partial tear of his right ulnar collateral ligament.

Allan is the Mets' top prospect, though he has very little professional experience. He threw just 10.1 innings in 2019 after he fell to the third round of the draft that year due to signability concerns and didn't get into game action last season due to the canceled minor-league schedules, though the Mets liked him enough to include him as part of their 60-man player pool. The timing of his surgery means he'll miss all of this season as well as a majority of the 2022 campaign.

  • Mets' Matthew Allan: Added to player pool

Allan was added to the Mets 60-man player pool Saturday and assigned to the team's alternate training site, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record

Allan is one of the top young arms in the Mets' farm system but should not be expecting a callup to the big-league roster any time soon. He figures to stay and practice at the team's alternate site for the time being.
