Nunez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to Atlanta.
His line in the box score wasn't overly impressive, but Nunez's theft after a second-inning single was his 40th of the season, making him the first player in the majors this season to reach that mark. The 25-year-old switch hitter is running away with the stolen-base crown, as he's 10 steals clear of second-place Jazz Chisholm and Bobby Witt (back). On the year, Nunez has managed a .240/.321/.281 slash line with one homer, 31 RBI and 46 runs in 104 contests.

Nunez went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Athletics.
Nunez is up to 37 steals on the season, including three during the three-game set in Sacramento. The infielder is getting the bulk of the playing time at second base for the Nationals and continues to make an impact with his speed. The batting has been just passable -- he's hitting .246 with a .623 OPS, one home run, 28 RBI, 42 runs scored, four doubles and three triples over 92 contests this season.

Nunez went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and a stolen base in Friday's win over the A's.
The Nationals scored three or more runs in five different innings on their way to a 23-4 rout, and Nunez was one of six Washington players with multiple hits and one of seven to cross the plate multiple times. His sixth-inning steal was his 35th of the season, putting him five clear of Bobby Witt for the major-league lead. Nunez was getting by on his defense and speed early in the season, but since the beginning of June he's produced a stunning .343/.407/.431 slash line over 114 plate appearances.

The light-hitting infielder lofted a Payton Tolle fastball over the Green Monster in the fourth inning for his first homer of the season, and the fifth of his career in his 172nd MLB game. Nunez is still looking to escape the slump he got mired in late in June, and over his last nine contests he's batting just .160 (4-for-25) with 14 strikeouts.

The Nationals will go with Jorbit Vivas at the keystone Sunday while Nunez heads to the bench for the first time since June 12. Nunez started the last 14 games, slashing .386/.460/.500 with seven runs and seven RBI over that stretch. He also contributed seven stolen bases during that time, bringing his season total to an MLB-leading 32.

Nunez drove in two runs and stole a bag in the fourth inning before notching his fourth multi-steal effort of the season in the seventh. It continued a torrid June for the 25-year-old, who's hitting .407 for the month and is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak that includes six multi-hit contests. For the year, he's slashing .242/.325/.287 with seven extra-base hits (no home runs), 26 RBI, 31 runs scored and a major-league-leading 31 stolen bases across 258 plate appearances.

The speedy infielder is up to 26 steals on the year and remains one behind Tuesday's opposing shortstop, Bobby Witt, for the major-league lead. Nunez's two triples in the same game also tied a franchise record, with Daylen Lile having most recently tied the mark in September of last season.
