Astros' Felipe Paulino: Contract purchased by Astros
Paulino had his contract bought out by Houston on Monday, and he's expected to report to Triple-A Round Rock, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Paulino had been playing in the Atlantic League for the Sugar Land Skeeters before the Astros picked him up. He'll likely serve as organizational depth at Triple-A, though he could be an option for a spot start if needed. Paulino last appeared in the big leagues back in 2014, when he accrued an 11.29 ERA with a 14:12 K:BB over 18.1 innings (four starts).

Felipe Paulino: Signs contract with Japanese team
Paulino signed a contract last week with the Seibu Lions of the Nippon Professional Baseball League, Octagon Baseball reports.
The 32-year-old had been working in a relief role with Triple-A Columbus in the Indians organization, posting a 2.77 ERA and 0.77 WHIP across 13 innings. Since he wasn't on the Tribe's 40-man roster and didn't have much of a path to the big leagues, Paulino decided to take his talents overseas.

Indians' Felipe Paulino: Signs minor league deal with Indians
Paulino signed a minor league contract with the Indians on Friday that includes an invite to spring training.
Paulino spent over a month of the season without a team, but eventually landed with the Cubs where he pitched to a 4.93 ERA in 20 starts with the Triple-A club. The 32-year-old will have a chance to make the big league roster out of spring training, but he hasn't made more than seven appearances in a season in the majors since 2011, so he'll more likely serve as pitching depth in the minors.
