Buccaneers' Troy Hill: Increases practice participation
Hill (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Hill opened the week as a DNP on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, but the 33-year-old corner was able to go through Thursday's session in a limited capacity. He'll have one more chance Friday to increase his practice participation and avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Giants.

Buccaneers' Troy Hill: Working through ankle injury
Hill (ankle) did not participate in the Buccaneers' first official practice of the week Wednesday.
Hill was signed from the Bucs' practice squad to the active roster Monday to contribute depth to the secondary. However, he is nursing an ankle injury, which was serious enough for him to be sidelined for Wednesday's practice. If Hill is able to return to practice Thursday and/or Friday, that would give him a chance to suit up against the Giants on Sunday. Hill began the 2024 regular season with the Panthers, and before being released Oct. 18, he registered 32 tackles (20 solo) and one pass defended over six games.

The Buccaneers signed Hill to their active roster Monday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Hill joined the Buccaneers' practice squad in late October after being released by the Panthers earlier in the season. The veteran cornerback could contribute in Tampa Bay's secondary immediately, as the team is dealing with injuries to Tykee Smith (knee), Zyon McCollum (hamstring), Jamel Dean (hamstring) and Bryce Hall (ankle) heading into the Week 12 matchup against the Giants.

Troy Hill: Let go by Carolina
The Panthers released Hill on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Hill had started all six of the Panthers' games this season, recording 32 total tackles and one pass defended. Carolina will move on from Hill to play younger players in the secondary, as the fact the Panthers' defense already ranks last in the NFL in points per game allowed (33.8) corroborates his veteran presence didn't make much of a difference. Expect Hill to be a hot name on the free-agent market, as the veteran corner can help a team win now. Chau Smith-Wade is likely Hill's replacement at slot corner in Carolina.
