  • Texans' Robert Woods: Ramped-up usage in loss

Woods caught three of six targets for 19 yards and returned one kickoff for 31 yards in Saturday's 27-19 loss to the Chiefs in Week 16. Woods was on the field for a season-high 34 offensive snaps, a bump in activity due to an injury to Tank Dell (kneecap). The Texans have clinched a playoff spot but will be without Stefon Diggs (knee) and potentially Dell in the postseason, which creates an opportunity for Woods. It should be noted that John Metchie (shoulder) was inactive for Saturday's game; he moved ahead of Woods on the depth chart as a result of the Diggs' injury in Week 8.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Two touches in win

Woods caught both of his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 20-12 win over Miami. Woods had the third-most snaps (24) among wide receivers, but his production was similar to previous weeks. After Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Woods is looking for leftovers along with John Metchie (21 snaps, four targets) and Xavier Hutchinson (eight, one). Woods has caught 13 of 19 targets on the season for 124 yards and zero touchdowns.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: One target in loss

Woods caught his lone target for eight yards in Sunday's 32-27 loss to the Titans in Week 12. He also returned five punts for 24 yards. Woods, who received a slight bump in targets when injuries hit Houston's WR depth chart, was back to his normal volume in Nico Collins' second game back. Collins saw limited snaps when he returned to duty last week but saw a full workload Sunday, which put a crimp in Woods' usage. His main job these days is as a returner -- 235 returns yards vs. 112 receiving yards -- and he's behind John Metchie and competing with Xavier Hutchinson for fantasy relevancy.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Two catches in win

Woods caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Monday's 34-10 win over the Cowboys. He also returned one kickoff for 21 yards. Woods continued to fill a depth role which affords him a couple of targets per game, although his snap count took a slight hit due to the return of Nico Collins. Since injuries to Houston wideouts started popping up in Week 6, Woods has seen an uptick in activity, although not a enough of a bump to spark fantasy interest. After missing two games himself as part of the injury wave, Woods has seven receptions on 10 targets for 76 yards while averaging 38 percent of the offensive snaps over the last four games.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Two catches as fill-in

Woods caught two of three targets for 44 yards in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9. Woods got the start with both Nico Collins (hamstring) and Stefon Diggs (knee) unavailable. He played 39 snaps and contributed a 32-yard reception to Houston's lone touchdown drive in the second quarter. If Collins returns as expected for Week 10, then Woods would likely return to a depth role. He has seven catches (on 10 targets) for 90 yards in seven games played.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Larger role than expected

Woods caught both of his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts. He also returned two punts for 23 yards. Woods, who returned to action following a two-game absence due to a foot injury, played a larger role on offense than anticipated. That was due to the potentially serious knee injury suffered by Stefon Diggs, who is headed for an MRI and is unlikely to play Thursday against the Jets. Some combination of Woods, Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie will fill the wideout void created by Diggs' injury.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Set to return Week 8

Woods (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Colts. Woods will return after a two-game absence, though he isn't expected to play a significant role on offense despite the absence of Nico Collins (hamstring). Woods steadily increased his practice participation throughout the week, going from a DNP on Wednesday to limited participation Thursday before practicing in full Friday.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Remains sidelined Wednesday

Woods (foot) didn't practice Wednesday. Woods missed Houston's last two games due to plantar fasciitis, and while he's reportedly making progress in his recovery, the receiver still isn't ready to resume practicing. If Woods doesn't play Sunday against the Colts, Xavier Hutchinson would continue to have a role in three-receiver sets, though Hutchinson was working ahead of Woods even before the veteran wideout got hurt.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Making progress

Woods is still questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts, but he is making progress in his recovery from plantar fasciitis and is expected back soon, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Woods hasn't played since Week 5 against the Bills and had previously been using a walking boot while working to recover from the foot injury. A return this week for the 32-year-old would be a boost to the Texans' receiving corps with Nico Collins (hamstring) on IR, but more clarity on his potential to do so won't likely come until closer to Sunday.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Remains sidelined for Week 7

Woods (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers. Woods will miss a second consecutive game due to a foot injury. Steven Sims filled in as Houston's kickoff and punt returner in Woods' absence in the 41-21 Week 6 win over the Patriots, so Sims likely will maintain those roles against the Packers, while Woods wasn't much of a factor on offense even before his injury.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Still not practicing

Woods (foot) won't practice Wednesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. Woods missed last Sunday's win over the Patriots, and his continued absence from practice clouds his status for this weekend's game against the Packers. If Woods remains sidelined versus Green Bay, John Metchie would move up a rung on the depth chart as the Texans' No. 4 receiver behind Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell and Xavier Hutchinson.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: May be out Week 6

Woods (foot) is in line to miss Sunday's game at New England, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Woods showed up on the Texans' practice report last week due to a foot injury, which sidelined him Thursday, limited his reps Friday and resulted in a questionable tag for Week 5 action. He suited up this past Sunday against the Bills and played 24 percent of the snaps, but he also wasn't targeted for the third time in five games this season. It appears Woods may have aggravated the issue, considering he hasn't practiced this week and now is trending toward his first absence of the campaign. Friday's injury report ultimately may rule him out for Week 6.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Misses another practice

Woods (foot) remained absent from practice Thursday. Woods also missed Wednesday's practice, so what he's able to do during Friday's session will loom larger in terms of his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots. With Nico Collins (hamstring) on IR, Woods is a candidate to see added WR snaps behind Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell, provided his foot issue doesn't impact his availability.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Starts week with practice absence

Woods (foot) didn't participate in practice Wednesday. Woods also missed some practice time with the same injury leading up to the Week 5 win over the Bills, but he managed to play through the concern and failed to draw a target on his 16 snaps on offense. Based on how the Texans deployed their wide receivers after Nico Collins (hamstring) exited the Week 5 contest, Xavier Hutchinson is more likely than Woods to join Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell in three-receiver sets Sunday against the Patriots. Collins was placed on injured reserve Wednesday and will miss at least four games, allowing Woods and each of the Texans' other receivers to move up a spot on the depth chart.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Not targeted in win

Woods was not targeted over 16 snaps in Sunday's 23-20 win over Buffalo in Week 5. He also returned five punts for 66 yards and one kickoff for 31 yards. Woods, who played 54 snaps as a fill-in for wideout Tank Dell last week, was held back Sunday in favor of Xavier Hutchinson, who filled in after Nico Collins (hamstring) left the game. However the depth chart shakes out behind the top three wideouts, neither Woods nor Hutchinson are expected to see an uptick in targets when at least two of the top three are healthy. Woods replaced the inactive Steven Sims as Houston's kickoff returner Sunday.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Active for Sunday's game

Woods (foot) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bills. Woods didn't practice Thursday, but after returning to a limited session field Friday, he approached the contest listed as questionable. Now that his active status has been confirmed, Woods -- who has caught three of five targets in four games to date for 28 yards -- is slated to return to a complementary role in Houston's offense, with Tank Dell (chest) back in action after a one-game absence and set to reclaim his key role alongside fellow WRs Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Questionable while Dell's cleared

Woods (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills after being limited in practice Friday. Woods didn't practice Thursday, so it was encouraging that he managed to return to the practice field Friday, even in a limited capacity. Even if Woods suits up Sunday, he isn't expected to play a significant role, as Tank Dell (chest) has been cleared to return after a one-game absence, and there haven't been many targets left over in Houston's wide receiver room behind Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs and Dell.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Back at practice Friday

Woods (foot) is participating in Friday's practice, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Woods didn't practice Thursday due to a foot injury, so it's encouraging to see him back on the field in at least a limited capacity. Friday's official injury report will reveal whether the veteran wideout practiced in full or was limited, and whether Woods carries an official injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bills.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Added to injury report

Woods (foot) didn't practice Thursday. Woods practiced fully Wednesday, so his DNP a day later is notable. On the plus side for the Texans, Tank Dell (chest) has logged back-to-back limited sessions. If he's able to play Sunday against the Bills, Woods, if available, presumably would move back to a reserve role behind Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs and Dell.

  • Texans' Robert Woods: Fills in as third wideout

Woods caught one of three targets for 10 yards and played a season-high 54 snaps in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Jaguars in Week 4. Woods' healthy snap count was attributable to Tank Dell (chest) being inactive. In the three previous weeks, Woods totaled 34 snaps and two targets. Without Dell, quarterback C.J. Stroud stepped up his reliance on Nico Collins (15 targets) and Stefon Diggs (nine).
