Buccaneers' Lavonte David: Tampa or bust
David (knee), through his agent, has relayed that he will either play for the Buccaneers in 2026 or retire, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
David recently underwent surgery to clean up his knee and is debating retirement. If he does decide to play in 2026, it will only be for the organization that selected him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. David is expected to make a decision on his future soon.

Buccaneers' Lavonte David: Another productive season in '25
David recorded 114 tackles (61 solo), including 3.5 sacks, three passes defensed, including one interception, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 17 games during the 2025 season.
David played 17 games for the third time in the last four seasons, once again serving as the iron man of the Buccaneers' defense in his age-35 season. The standout linebacker recorded at least nine tackles on six occasions, and he posted multiple sacks and forced fumbles for the second consecutive campaign while eclipsing the 100-tackle mark for the fourth straight season as well. David played the 2025 season on a one-year, $9 million deal, and it remains to be seen if he and the team will come to terms on extending their working relationship for a 15th season.

Buccaneers' Lavonte David: Resting Wednesday
David (rest) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
David is not listed with the knee injury he overcame before the Week 16 Sunday loss to the Panthers, but the veteran linebacker had an easier day as he rests for Sunday's matchup with the Dolphins. The 35-year-old will likely upgrade to a full participant by Friday, but regardless of his Week 17 practice status, he will probably suit up for Sunday's game barring any sudden injury.

Buccaneers' Lavonte David: Logs double-digit tackles in loss
David posted 10 tackles (six solo), including 1.0 sacks, during Tampa Bay's loss versus the Panthers on Sunday.
David was dominant in the loss, leading the Buccaneers in tackles in addition to recording one of the team's two sacks of Bryce Young. The 35-year-old continues to have a strong season, as he's now compiled 105 tackles (54 solo), including 3.5 sacks, and an interception across 15 games played.
