  • La'el Collins: Cut by Dallas

The Cowboys released Collins on Sunday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Collins was brought in by the Cowboys in early August to fortify the team's depth on the offensive line due to injuries to Tyler Guyton (knee) and Hakeem Adeniji. Collins ended up playing in all three preseason games and was praised for his leadership with younger linemen, and he could be brought back once the initial 53-man roster is finalized. He last saw regular-season action in 2022 with the Bengals, when he started 15 games at right tackle.

  • Cowboys' La'el Collins: Latches on with Dallas

The Cowboys signed Collins to a contract Friday, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. The Cowboys are solidifying their depth at offensive tackle with Tyler Guyton (knee) and Hakeem Adeniji (concussion) out with injuries. Collins last saw regular-season action in 2022 with the Bengals, in part due to a knee injury that played a role in Cincinnati releasing him in September of 2023. Collins has played only at right tackle since 2017, and with Guyton in jeopardy of missing Week 1, the Cowboys could shuffle their offensive line by shifting Terence Steele to left tackle so that Collins can play at right. More likely, however, the 32-year-old will simply provide depth if he makes the season-opening roster.

  • La'el Collins: Gets look from Dallas

Collins received a tryout with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Collins spent the first six seasons of his career in Dallas, before joining the Bengals as a free agent during the 2022 offseason. However, after sustaining tears in his ACL and MCL, the veteran offensive tackle was released Sept. 12 and has remained a free agent since. Now healthy, Collins has been working to find a new home and may end up back at an old one, where he'd likely start as a member of the Cowboys' practice squad if he can earn a deal.

  • Bengals' La'el Collins: Still recovering from injury

Collins (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list Sunday. Collins tore his ACL during Week 16 of last season and is believed to be ahead of schedule in his recovery. His addition to the active version of the PUP list will leave him eligible to return at any point, once he can prove he is healthy enough to do so.
