  • Giants' Landon Collins: Elevated to active roster

Collins was elevated off the practice squad Saturday. Collins has now been activated for three games this season, but he has been able to record only a single tackle over the previous two contests. Collins could see playing time at both linebacker and safety, as the Giants are very thin at both positions.

  • Football Team's Landon Collins: Lands on IR

Collins (foot) was placed on injured reserve Friday. Collins suffered the injury in Tuesday's loss to Philadelphia, and the issue is serious enough to land the defender on IR. Consequently, he won't be able to play again this season unless Washington makes the playoffs.

  • Football Team's Landon Collins: Avoids PUP list

Collins (Achilles) was not placed on any injury list as Washington begins training camp, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Collins did not participate in team minicamp in June as he was still recovering from an Achilles tear that ended his 2020 season in Week 9. However, the fact that he did not start camp on any sort of injury list is a reassuring sign that he's closer to being fully recovered.

  • Redskins' Landon Collins: Sidelined to start week

Collins (shoulder) was a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimation, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Collins appears to have picked up a shoulder injury during Week 16's loss to the Giants. His status in practice will bear monitoring over the course of the week.

  • Redskins' Landon Collins: Forces fumble in loss

Collins was credited with six tackles (four solo), a pass breakup and a forced fumble in Sunday's 41-35 loss to the Giants. Despite heading into the matchup wearing the questionable tag due to an Achilles injury, Collins logged his biggest tackle effort in the last three weeks, together with just his second forced fumble and fourth pass breakup of the season. He needs just nine tackles against the Cowboys in Week 17 to pass his career high of 125.

  • Redskins' Landon Collins: Receives questionable tag

Collins (Achilles) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Giants. Collins didn't partake in the first two practices of the week, but he worked as a full participant Friday and appears on track to face New York. The 25-year-old hasn't missed a snap this season, and he should be able to attempt to continue that streak Sunday.

  • Redskins' Landon Collins: Leads team in tackles

Collins had nine tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Bills. Minus a four-tackle performance against the 49ers in Week 7, Collins has been a dependable IDP contributor in 2019 with at least seven tackles in each contest. The 25-year-old ranks fourth in the NFL with 78 tackles (52 solo), and he also has one sack and one forced fumble this season.

  • Redskins' Landon Collins: Forces fumble in win

Collins finished with 12 tackles, including a sack, and also forced a fumble in Washington's 17-16 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. Collins has been an effective tackler through six weeks (55 stops) but has yet to record an interception. Meanwhile, Collins' sack in Sunday's win was his first of 2019 and just the fifth sack of the 25-year-old safety's career.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Moves to division rival

Collins has inked a six-year, $84 million deal with Washington, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Collins' market-setting contract will reportedly include $45 million guaranteed, to be paid out over the first three years of his new deal. The 25-year-old safety is coming off a 2018 season in which he logged 96 tackles in 12 games for the Giants. As long as Collins stays healthy, the 2015 second-rounder should remain a quality IDP in his new locale.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: May get tagged

Collins (shoulder) is a strong candidate for the franchise tag, ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan reports. Collins had surgery Dec. 11 to repair a torn labrum, missing the final four weeks of the regular season and then sitting out the Pro Bowl. He did mention in late December that he'd be fine with playing under the franchise tag, which is expected to cost approximately $11 million for safeties. The 25-year-old has started his career averaging at least 6.9 tackles per game in each of his first four seasons, but he didn't do much else on the stat sheet in 2018. He did have 125 tackles, five INTS and four sacks during his breakout 2016 campaign, finishing third in DPOY voting behind Khalil Mack and Von Miller. The Giants presumably will discuss a long-term deal with Collins, but it won't come as any surprise if they're hesitant to pay top dollar for a safety without first-rate coverage skills.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Would play under franchise tag

Collins (shoulder) said Tuesday he would be willing to play under the franchise tag if necessary, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. Collins missed the final four games of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery and is set to hit free agency in 2019, though the Giants could retain his rights with the franchise tag. The 2015 second-round pick also expressed a desire to remain in New York and is hopeful for an extension, but he didn't give any indication he would consider a holdout if tagged. The 25-year-old would likely be fairly sought after if allowed to reach the open market.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Undergoes successful surgery

Collins (shoulder) underwent surgery Tuesday, and it went off without a hitch. Collins will miss the remainder of 2018 because of the shoulder injury, but there's nothing to suggest he won't be ready by the time the 2019 campaign begins firing up. The fourth-year safety could hit free agency this offseason, if he doesn't reach a contract extension with the Giants before then, and would likely be a valued commodity on the open market.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Getting season-ending surgery

Collins (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo surgery in the near future to address a labrum issue and will be placed on injured reserve, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. There was some thought of Collins playing through the injury, but it wouldn't make much sense in a contract season with his team out of the playoff hunt. The 2015 second-round pick doesn't have any sacks or interceptions this season, but he's tied for 11th in the NFL with 96 tackles, placing him just one behind Arizona's Antoine Bethea for the league lead among defensive backs. Collins will be one of the top names on the market if the Giants don't re-sign him before free agency opens in March. In the meantime, Michael Thomas will likely take over as the starting strong safety.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Considering season-ending surgery

Collins (shoulder) is considering season-ending surgery to correct the shoulder injury he sustained during last Sunday's victory over Chicago, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano reports. Collins recently underwent X-rays on his left shoulder, and the scans reportedly came back clean. While Collins isn't expected to play in this weekend's game against the Redskins anyway, fantasy owners may need to have a long-term contingency plan in place in case Collins chooses to go under the knife in the near future. The fourth-year pro is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the league year.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Dealing with shoulder injury

Collins had X-rays on his left shoulder Sunday but the results came back negative, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. Collins exited Sunday's win over the Bears after sustaining the injury, but was able to return and remain in the game. The 25-year-old had played every defensive snap of the season entering Sunday's game -- and although that streak is now broken -- he appears to have avoided a serious injury.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Leads team in tackles again

Collins recorded nine tackles (eight solo) during Sunday's 25-22 loss to the Eagles. Collins has led the Giants' defense in tackles in three straight games, and he now has 91 tackles on the season. The fourth-year pro played 100 percent of New York's defensive snaps Sunday as he has done in every game this season, and he remains a productive IDP starter.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Leads team in tackles

Collins had eight tackles (seven solo) in Monday's 23-20 loss to the Falcons. Collins continues to pace the Giants defense with 57 tackles (40 solo) on the season. The Giants have a Week 8 matchup with the Redskins, who increasingly have relied on RB Adrian Peterson over the last couple weeks.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Leads team in tackles again

Collins posted a team-high eight tackles (four solo) in Sunday's loss to the Panthers. The Giants' secondary managed, for the most part, to keep Cam Newton in check, and while the defensive back was not responsible for either of the two interceptions, he did manage to lead the team in tackles for the second straight week. With New York boasting a shaky run defense this season that's giving up 124.4 yards per game, Collins should continue to have plenty of chances to rack up tackles on running backs advancing to the second level.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Opts for surgery

Collins (forearm), who was placed on injured reserve Monday, underwent surgery earlier in the day, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports. It was fully expected that Collins would be placed on IR after fracturing his right forearm in Sunday's 23-0 loss to the Cardinals, but it wasn't known whether or not he would opt for surgery to address the injury. The procedure likely lengthens Collins' recovery timetable and could impact his availability for Organized Team Activities, but he should be fully healthy for the start of training camp next summer. Andrew Adams is expected to start at safety in Collins' place in the season finale against the Redskins.

  • Giants' Landon Collins: Placed on IR

The Giants placed Collins (forearm) on injured reserve Tuesday, Michael Eisen of the Giants' official site reports. Collins' move to IR was merely a formality after he fractured his right forearm in Sunday's 23-0 loss to the Cardinals. With Collins unavailable for the season finale against the Redskins, the Giants elected to fill his spot on the 53-man roster with linebacker Derrick Mathews, who was promoted from the practice squad. Collins finishes his third NFL season with 104 tackles, six pass breakups, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries across 15 contests.
