Tre Boston: Time up in Carolina
The Panthers informed Boston of his release Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Cutting Boston will save the Panthers roughly $3.5 million against the cap. The 28-year-old safety notched a career-high 95 tackles (61 solo) to go with one sack, four pass breakups and an interception across 16 games last year. Following Boston's release, free safety should be a key target for Carolina during the 2021 NFL Draft and/or free agency.

Boston not only tied for Carolina's team lead in stops, but he registered his first sack of the season while doing so. Overall, Boston's effort helped him finish the campaign with a career-best 95 tackles to go with four passes defended, one interception, two fumble recoveries and a fumble forced. At 28 years old and under contract for 2021, he's a solid veteran that can help the Panthers in their cause of building their defense back up.

Panthers' Tre Boston: Available against Green Bay
Boston (hamstring) is active for Saturday's game against the Packers, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Boston's status came down to a game-time decision Saturday, but he's made enough progress in his recovery to take the field. The starting safety's presence will be a notable boost for Carolina's secondary, a unit that faces the tough task of containing Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

Panthers' Tre Boston: Game-time call Saturday
Boston (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Packers.
Boston was a limited participant at practice throughout the week, so he appears trending toward a game-time decision Saturday. Considering Boston has yet to miss a game this season, it's likely that he'll be out there trying to slow down Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay passing attack. If Boston were to miss the game, Myles Hartsfield would be in line for the start at free safety.
