Gesicki wasn't targeted in Sunday's 20-6 win over the Texans.
One week after leading the team in receiving with a 5-78-1 line on seven targets against the Bucs, Gesicki laid an egg against Houston. He played just 21 of 60 offensive snaps, fewer than both Drew Sample (36) and Erick All (25) at tight end for the Bengals. Despite playing fewer snaps than both, Gesicki led the trio with 20 pass routes, seven more than Sample and 15 more than All. Gesicki is essentially a fourth receiver behind Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Andrei Iosivas. Gesicki would need an injury to Chase or Higgins to have a reliable fantasy role.

Bengals' Mike Gesicki: Leads Bengals pass catchers in Week 1
Gesicki caught five passes on seven targets for 78 yards and a touchdown during the Bengals' 33-27 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Even with the lethal one-two punch of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, it was Gesicki who led the Bengals in catches, targets and receiving yards during Sunday's win, which included a two-yard touchdown pass from Joe Burrow late in the first quarter. Gesicki was also Burrow's go-to target late in the second quarter, with the duo connecting on passes of 16, 11 and 20 yards to help set up a 20-yard field goal from Evan McPherson. Chase, Higgins and running back Chase Brown are still the main playmakers on offense for the Bengals, but Gesicki is more than capable of having games like Sunday. The Bengals will look to start the 2026 season with a 2-0 record next Sunday on the road against the Texans, whose defense gave up 36 points to the Bills and allowed tight end Dalton Kincaid to turn six targets into five catches for 130 yards in Week 1.

Bengals' Mike Gesicki: Poised to bounce back
Gesicki is slated to be the Bengals' top pass-catching tight end to begin the 2026 season.
In the wake of the NFL's cutdown day, Gesicki's main competition for offensive snaps is blocking TE Drew Sample, who has combined for 57 catches over his last 51 regular-season games. Meanwhile, 2024 fourth-round pick Erick All is finally back healthy after missing all of 2025 due to a torn ACL, while rookie seventh-rounder Jack Endries is the only other TE on the active roster. Gesicki posted a disappointing 28-307-2 line on 42 targets in 13 regular-season contests last year, but he's just two years removed from a 65-665-2 receiving line in his first campaign as a Bengal in 2024.

Bengals' Mike Gesicki: One target in preseason opener
Gesicki didn't catch his only target in Thursday's 16-14 preseason win over the Lions.
Gesicki's lone target came on a pass from Joe Burrow on the game's second possession. Cincinnati's starters exited the contest shortly thereafter. The 30-year-old Gesicki is tentatively penciled in atop a Bengals tight end depth chart that also includes Drew Sample, Erick All, Tanner Hudson and Jack Endries, the last of whom caught a four-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter from backup quarterback Joe Flacco.

Bengals' Mike Gesicki: Back for Year 3 with Bengals
As the coming season approaches, Gesicki profiles as the main receiving option in a Bengals tight end corps that also features Drew Sample, who makes most of his impact as an inline blocker, John Sheeran of A to Z Sports reports.
Also competing for TE slotting are Erick All (knee), Tanner Hudson, Jack Endries, Cam Grandy and Josh Kattus. Gesicki saw his production drop last season to 28 catches (on 42 targets) for 307 yards and two TDs in 13 regular-season games, down from the 65-665-2 line he posted in 2024, his first year with Cincinnati. Four missed games of his own, along with injuries limiting star QB Joe Burrow to eight regular-season appearances in 2025, didn't help Gesicki's cause, but with Noah Fant (34 catches on 41 targets) no longer in the mix, Gesicki has a chance to rebound as a secondary target with some streaming utility in a 2026 passing attack that will continue to lean heavily on WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, as well as RB Chase Brown.

Bengals' Mike Gesicki: Minimal impact in finale
Gesicki had two catches for 13 yards in Sunday's loss to the Browns, catching both of his targets. He finished the season with 28 catches for 307 yards and two touchdowns while playing 13 games.
Gesicki didn't make the same impact as he did in 2024, when he caught 65 passes for 665 yards and two touchdowns. The Bengals made a point of bringing back Gesicki this past offseason, instead of continuing their practice of signing discount rental tight ends. Obviously, Joe Burrow's toe injury that forced him to miss eight games hurt Gesicki's production, as did the latter's pectoral injury. Gesicki will be back for the 2026 season.

Bengals' Mike Gesicki: Two catches in big win
Gesicki caught both his targets for 47 yards in Sunday's 37-14 win over the Cardinals.
The tight end caught multiple passes for the fifth time in the last six games, a stretch in which he's put together an 18-233-2 line on 24 targets. Gesicki isn't a key part of the Bengals' passing attack, but he's been an effective complementary option and will carry some momentum into a Week 18 clash with the Browns.

Gesicki caught three of four targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 45-21 win over the Dolphins.
The veteran tight end caught the fourth of Joe Burrow's four scores on the day, hauling in a 17-yard TD in the fourth quarter. Gesicki has made just two trips to the end zone in 11 games this season, but they've both come in the last three weeks, a stretch in which he's posted a 10-132-2 line on 12 targets. He'll look to exploit another soft matchup in Week 17 against the Cardinals.

Gesicki had just one catch for 11 yards on three targets in the Bengals' 24-0 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
When Tee Higgins (concussion) missed games last season, Gesicki was frequently a big target for Joe Burrow, but the Ravens locked down on him Sunday. One of Gesicki's targets was a seam ball on fourth down when the Ravens had two defenders on Gesicki, a pass that ended in an incompletion and turnover on downs.
