  • Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Sticks around in San Fran

Vaughn signed with the 49ers' practice squad Thursday. The fifth-year running back out of Vanderbilt failed to make the 49ers' initial 53-man roster Tuesday, but it now appears that he'll remain in San Francisco on the team's practice squad. Vaughn appeared in six games with the Buccaneers in 2023, recording 42 rushing yards and no touchdowns on 54 offensive snaps.

  • Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Misses San Fran's roster

The 49ers released Vaughn on Monday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. The 27-year-old running back was picked up by San Francisco earlier in August in order to add depth to the team's depleted running back room. Now that Elijah Mitchell and Isaac Guerendo have returned to full health, Vaughn has been dropped.

  • 49ers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Inks deal with San Francisco

The 49ers signed Vaughn on Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. The 2020 third-round pick out of Vanderbilt spent the first four seasons of his career in Tampa Bay and has now agreed to terms with San Francisco. Vaughn is expected to add depth to a 49ers running back room dealing with injuries to Christian McCaffrey (calf), Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) and Isaac Guerendo (hamstring).

  • Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Dropped by New England

The Patriots cut Vaughn on Monday, Evan Lazar of the team's official site reports. The 27-year-old running back out of Vanderbilt signed a reserve/future contract with the Patriots back in January, but he's now been cut loose. Vaughn spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Buccaneers, recording 384 rushing yards on 103 attempts. This move comes as New England frees up space within the 90-man roster limit, and Vaughn will now seek an opportunity to compete elsewhere.

  • Patriots' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Hanging around New England

Vaughn signed a reserve/future contract with the Patriots on Monday. Vaughn joined the Patriots' practice squad in December after being waived by the Buccaneers and he will now stick around for the offseason. The running back appeared in six games with Tampa Bay in 2023, turning 24 carries into 42 yards on the ground while also catching two passes for two yards over 54 offensive snaps.

  • Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Headed to New England

Vaughn signed with New England's practice squad Tuesday. Vaughn will officially head to New England after being waived from Tampa Bay last week. The 2020 third-round pick carried the ball 24 times for 42 yards in six games this season and could serve as a depth option if Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) continues to miss time.

  • Ke'Shawn Vaughn: To join Pats' practice squad

The Patriots are expected to sign Vaughn to their practice squad, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. With Rhamondre Stevenson dealing with a nagging ankle injury and Ezekiel Elliott struggling on a per-touch basis, New England is interested in adding some depth at running back. In six games with Tampa Bay this season, Vaughn took 24 carries for 42 yards, adding two catches for two yards on five targets.

  • Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Let go by Tampa Bay

Vaughn was waived by the Buccaneers on Friday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. Vaughn has been a healthy scratch over the last five weeks as he worked behind Rachaad White, Chase Edmonds and Sean Tucker. Vaughn registered 42 rushing yards on 24 carries in six games this season, and he'll weigh his next options should he clear waivers.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Remains inactive Sunday

Vaughn (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. Vaughn has now qualified as a healthy scratch for four consecutive games, with undrafted rookie Sean Tucker taking his spot as the barely utilized No. 3 running back in Tampa Bay's ground attack. Vaughn's next opportunity to garner active status comes in a Week 14 road divisional clash against the Falcons.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Healthy scratch again

Vaughn (coach's decision) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Colts, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. The fourth-year running back out of Vanderbilt seems to have been passed by both Chase Edmonds and Sean Tucker on Tampa Bay's depth chart, as he'll be a healthy scratch for the third consecutive game. Vaughn has appeared in six games for the Buccaneers this season, recording 44 total yards on 26 touches.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Sitting out again Week 11

Vaughn (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday for the matchup with the 49ers, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Vaughn will be a healthy scratch for the second straight week. He's seen action in six games this year but has struggled to get anything going, rushing for just 42 yards and no scores on 24 carries and adding two catches on five targets for two yards. Vaughn appears to have fallen behind Sean Tucker for the role of the Buccaneers' No. 3 running back.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Inactive Week 10

Vaughn (coach's decision) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Titans. The 26-year-old worked as Tampa Bay's No. 3 tailback the past two games with Chase Edmonds back from injury, but Sean Tucker will fill that tertiary role Sunday. Vaughn won't suit up for the first time since the first two games of the season, when he was also a healthy scratch.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Five touches on five snaps

Vaughn rushed four times for nine yards and brought in his only target for minus-1 yard in the Buccaneers' 39-37 loss to the Texans on Sunday. The reserve back was in for only five plays from scrimmage, and he was busy on each one. Vaughn did next to nothing with the opportunity, however, and he's only reached double-digit rushing yards once this season. The 2020 third-round pick is averaging 1.8 yards per carry through six games and doesn't carry any fantasy value at the moment.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Role reduced with Edmonds return

Vaughn rushed once for one yard across four snaps in the Buccaneers' 24-18 loss to the Bills on Thursday night. Vaughn's minimal contribution was party a byproduct of his sparse snap count, but the fourth-year running back hadn't cleared 16 rushing yards in any of the prior three contests despite a double-digit tally of plays from scrimmage in each of those games. Vaughn could be a healthy scratch in Week 9 against the Texans if Chase Edmonds, who made his return from injured reserve Thursday and logged eight snaps, projects for an expanded workload.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Another forgettable performance

Vaughn rushed four times for seven yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Buccaneers' 16-13 loss to the Falcons on Sunday. Vaughn logged 18 snaps while Sean Tucker once again failed to see the field, perhaps the last time the two players will operate in that arrangement for a while. Vaughn has netted a meager 32 yards on his 19 carries this season while recording just one catch for three yards, and head coach Todd Bowles could well opt to give Tucker another crack at the top backup job given the dearth of production at that spot thus far.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Works as No. 2 back in loss

Vaughn rushed six times for nine yards and failed to bring in either of his two targets in the Buccaneers' 20-6 loss to the Lions on Sunday. Vaughn logged 12 snaps from scrimmage as Rachaad White's direct backup and as the only other running back to log a carry. As his final line implies, Vaughn's production was minimal, and he's now rushed for just 25 yards on 15 carries this season. As such, Sean Tucker, who hasn't logged any snaps on offense in the last two games, could get another turn with the No. 2 job in a Week 7 matchup against the Falcons.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Sees double-digit touches Sunday

Vaughn rushed nine times for 16 yards and brought in his only target for three yards in the Buccaneers' 26-9 win over the Saints on Sunday. The fourth-year running back was in on 21 offensive snaps while serving as the primary backup to Rachaad White for the first time this season as Vaughn worked ahead of rookie Sean Tucker, with the latter active but not logging any snaps. The Buccaneers have gotten very little production from any back this season, with even White averaging just 3.3 yards per carry, so a reevaluation of the depth chart might be in order during the team's Week 5 bye.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: No action despite active status

Vaughn was active but didn't log any snaps from scrimmage or on special teams during the Buccaneers' 25-11 loss to the Eagles on Monday night. Vaughn was essentially a healthy scratch for the third time in as many games to open the season, despite being in uniform for his first 2023 contest. Game script went firmly against the ground attack as the night progressed Monday night, however, with even No. 2 back Sean Tucker garnering just two carries and four snaps. Vaughn should have another opportunity to fill the No. 3 running back role in a Week 4 road matchup against the Saints, considering Chase Edmonds (knee) is on injured reserve for at least three more contests.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Active for first time this season

Vaughn is listed as active Monday versus the Eagles. The Buccaneers made Vaughn a healthy scratch for the first two games of the campaign, but with fellow running back Chase Edmonds landing on injured reserve last Wednesday due to an MCL injury, the former will have a chance to make his season debut Monday. Rachaad White is the clear No. 1 RB for Tampa Bay, and undrafted rookie Sean Tucker is the backup, so Vaughn may be contained to special-teams work and the occasional snap on offense.

  • Buccaneers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Set to make 2023 debut

Vaughn is expected to be active for Monday's contest against the Eagles, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Vaughn sat out of practice leading up to Week 1 after being unhappy with his spot on the depth chart. He was a healthy inactive for the first two games of the season, but with Chase Edmonds (knee) being placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Vaughn will get the chance to show what he can provide while operating behind Rachaad White and Sean Tucker.
