  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Week 3 Waiver Priority List

With Christian McCaffrey (calf) and Deebo Samuel (calf) both out, Jennings could take on a bigger role for the 49ers, especially with Ricky Pearsall (chest) also on IR. Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle should be the top two targets in San Francisco, but Jennings could be third. And through two games, he has nine targets for seven catches and 101 yards, and he scored 11.4 PPR points in Week 1 against the Jets. He's worth adding for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Nabs two receptions Sunday

Jennings (ankle) had two receptions on four targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to Minnesota. Jennings carried a questionable tag through the practice week after picking up an ankle injury in Week 1 against the Jets. The veteran slot receiver was cleared from the injury report prior to kickoff, producing a stereotypical receiving line for those in deep leagues. A healthy Jennings should make for a high-floor, low-ceiling fantasy option against the Rams on Sunday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Cleared for Week 2

Jennings (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Minnesota, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Jennings was listed with an ankle injury ahead of Week 1 and even made a brief exit from Monday's win over the Jets, but it didn't stop him from catching each of his five targets for a team-high 64 receiving yards. He played 47 percent of San Francisco's snaps on offense and ran a route on 56 percent of the pass plays, filling his usual role as the No. 3 receiver behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. It is possible Jennings benefits from a few extra snaps here and there if Samuel continues to get some work as a running back while Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is out.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Limited Wednesday

Jennings (ankle) will be a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports. Jennings made a brief exit during Monday's win against the Jets, but he ultimately played 35 of 72 offensive snaps en route to five catches (on five targets) for 64 yards. The elevated target count may have been due to fellow wideout Deebo Samuel getting more work in the backfield with Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) sidelined. In any case, Jennings will join McCaffrey with a cap on his reps to kick off Week 2 prep, meaning the situation bears watching to see if the former will remain more involved Sunday in Minnesota, assuming he's active and the latter isn't.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Injures ankle Monday night

Jennings suffered an ankle injury in Monday night's Week 1 game against the Jets and is questionable to return, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Jennings was injured while being tackled on the 49ers' first drive of the third quarter, when a defender landed on the back of the wideout's leg. Prior to leaving and heading the blue medical tent, Jennings caught all three of his targets for a team-best 41 yards at the time of his exit.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Inks two-year deal

Jennings and the 49ers agreed Wednesday on a two-year deal worth up to $15.4 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The Niners gave Jennings a second-round restricted free agent tender in March. Given that it was unlikely any team would give up a pick that early for the right to pay Jennings a considerable contract, a trade was the only other viable option. Both parties were able to avoid that situation with this new deal, which is akin to a one-year extension that keeps him with San Francisco through the 2025 season. Jennings will be back to fill the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk during the upcoming campaign.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Gets second-round tender

The Niners gave Jennings a second-round restricted free agent tender Monday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. This gives the Niners the right to match any offer Jennings receives from another team, with a second-round pick coming back in return if they decline. No team is going to give up a pick that early for the right to hand Jennings a considerable contract, meaning a trade is now the only way he'd end up on a new team for 2024. While he hasn't seen many targets as the No. 3 receiver in a loaded offense, Jennings had Super Bowl MVP hype at one point in the big game when it looked like the Niners might win and he had a passing TD and a receiving score. Fantasy relevance in 2024 seems unlikely if fellow wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel both are on the team and healthy.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: One reception in NFC Championship

Jennings (head) caught one of two targets for eight yards in Sunday's 34-31 NFC Championship Game win over the Lions. Jennings had to leave the contest briefly to be examined for a concussion, but he was eventually cleared to return and finished with 22 snaps on offense. The physical wideout even got into an altercation with a Detroit defensive back at one point, but he appears to have escaped the game no worse for wear. Jennings left most of the playmaking to his superstar teammates Sunday, resulting in a forgettable fantasy day when compared to the 5-61-0 fantasy line he netted in the divisional-round win over the Packers while helping to replace the injured Deebo Samuel. With the 49ers' core at full strength heading into Super Bowl Sunday, Jennings should find himself with another light target count in the final game of the 2023 season.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Won't return in Week 18

The 49ers have downgraded Jennings (concussion) to out for Sunday's game against the Rams. Jennings showed some progress in his quest through the concussion protocol this week, logging three consecutive limited sessions before the 49ers gave him a questionable tag for Week 18. Saturday's development indicates that he wasn't able to gain clearance from an independent neurologist and thus will miss his third game in a row. With Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk candidates to see limited work Sunday, the likes of Ray-Ray McCloud (ribs, questionable), Chris Conley and Ronnie Bell may end up on the receiving end of many of Sam Darnold's passes.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Draws questionable tag

Jennings (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports. After sitting out the 49ers' last two games while recovering from a concussion, Jennings was able to take the field for practices this week, albeit as a limited participant. According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, Jennings still has one more stage of the five-step concussion protocol to clear, but if he's able to get the green light from an independent neurologist Saturday, he could be able to make his return to the lineup a day later in the 49ers' regular-season finale. San Francisco has already locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and is expected to rest several key players, but Jennings could be in store for something close to or greater than his typical workload if he manages to clear the protocol. Jennings had been serving as the 49ers' No. 3 receiver prior to suffering the concussion, but he hadn't played more than 50 percent of the offensive snaps in any of his last six outings while San Francisco had made liberal use of sets featuring a fullback or two tight ends.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Stays limited Thursday

Jennings (concussion) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. While he maintained his activity level from Wednesday's session, Jennings was seen working without a blue non-contact jersey, per Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area, which may be a sign that the wide receiver has nearly made his way through the concussion protocol. Gaining clearance from an independent neurologist will be the final hurdle for the fourth-year pro to play for the first time since Week 15, but Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not Jennings heads into the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest against the Rams.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Back as limited participant

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Jennings (concussion) will be a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports. Jennings has missed the past two games while making his way through the concussion protocol. With his first on-field work since suffering the injury on the horizon, he's putting himself in a position to return to action Sunday against the Rams. So far, Shanahan has ruled out quarterback Brock Purdy (coach's decision) and running back Christian McCaffrey (calf) for the regular-season finale, but no other skill-position players have been deemed unavailable. In the end, Jennings will need to be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to have a chance to play this weekend.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Not practicing yet

Jennings (concussion) didn't practice Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Jennings remains sidelined from any sort of on-field work as he recovers from the concussion that he sustained Week 15 in Arizona. As a result, he appears to be trending toward a second absence in a row Sunday at Washington, which could be confirmed as soon as the 49ers post their final Week 17 injury report Friday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Has progressed in concussion protocol

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday that Jennings, who won't play Monday against the Ravens, "has made steps" through the concussion protocol, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Jennings came out of last Sunday's victory at Arizona with a concussion, and he wasn't able to practice at all during Week 16 prep, per Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site. Shanahan's comments indicate Jennings may be on the cusp of mixing into drills again, but he'll cede his typical WR reps to Ronnie Bell and Chris Conley behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk on Monday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Not playing Monday

Jennings (concussion) has been ruled out for Monday's game versus the Ravens, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Jennings made no notable progress through the protocol for head injuries this week after being diagnosed with a concussion following last Sunday's win at Arizona. As a result, he'll miss his second game of the campaign, allowing Ronnie Bell and Chris Conley to handle more WR reps behind the top duo of Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Sits out practice again Friday

Jennings (concussion) did not practice Friday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Jennings remains in concussion protocol, casting doubt about his ability to be cleared ahead of Monday's Week 16 contest versus Baltimore. The third-year wideout consistently logs at least one-third of San Francisco's offensive snaps, though he has just seven catches on 12 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown over the team's past six games. If Jennings can't suit up Monday, Ronnie Bell could be in line for extended opportunities on offense.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Logs 23 snaps on offense

Jennings had two receptions on as many targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 45-29 win over Arizona. Jennings got involved offensively against the Cardinals after laying a goose egg against another division foe in Week 14. The 26-year-old has only garnered more than four targets just once this season. Jennings' small role leaves him with little fantasy value ahead of next Monday's tilt against the Ravens.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: No catches against SEA

Jennings failed to haul in his lone target in Sunday's 28-16 win over Seattle. Jennings followed up his best fantasy line of the season (3-44-1) with a bagel against the Seahawks. San Francisco unleashed all four of its offensive stars against the divisional foe Sunday, leaving little work for a role player such as Jennings. The 49ers' slot man has been an afterthought in both games against Seattle this season, generating just one reception for seven yards across both contests. Jennings remains only an option for those in deep leagues when the 49ers visit the Cardinals next Sunday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: No catches Sunday

Jennings failed to bring in his lone target in Sunday's 27-14 win over Tampa Bay. Jennings was on the field for 33 percent of the 49ers' offensive plays Sunday, but he still went catch-less for the third time this year. San Francisco has been leaning on its top talent to reignite the team with two convincing wins coming out of the bye week. Unfortunately for Jennings, that has meant little work for he and the rest of the 49ers' role players. The 26-year-old has recorded just one reception over his last three games, which should keep him off of most fantasy radars heading into Thursday's matchup against the Seahawks.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Not targeted in spot-start

Jennings was in the starting lineup in place of Deebo Samuel (shoulder) on Sunday, but he was not targeted in a 31-17 loss to the Bengals. Jennings finished with no targets, despite being on the field for 50 of San Francisco's offensive snaps (85 percent) for the team's third loss in as many weeks. He wound up playing a larger share of snaps compared to last week's spot start, when he produced his best line of the season (5-54-0). With the 49ers entering a bye in Week 9, there is a good possibility Samuel could return to the starting lineup against the Jaguars on Sunday, Nov. 12. If that happens, Jennings would slide back to his usual slot role when San Francisco returns to action.
