  • Bears' Collin Johnson: Records first catch of season

Johnson played five of the Bears' 53 snaps on offense and finished with a six-yard reception on his lone target in Sunday's 38-13 loss to the 49ers. Johnson's reception -- his first of the season -- came on the Bears' final drive of the game, when interim head coach Thomas had already subbed out most of Chicago's key players amid the blowout. The 27-year-old remains buried on the depth chart at receiver and will likely play most of his snaps on special teams while Chicago has DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze available.

  • Bears' Collin Johnson: Signs to active roster

Chicago signed Johnson from its practice squad to the 53-man roster Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. Johnson hasn't suited up with the main unit since Week 3 at Indianapolis, but he's now getting a full-time promotion from the practice squad ahead of Week 12. It would probably take an injury to one of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen or Rome Odunze for another Bears wideout to garner much fantasy relevance this season.

  • Collin Johnson: Reverts to practice squad

Johnson reverted to Chicago's practice squad Monday. In his second game this season, Johnson managed to record an assisted tackle while covering a kickoff and also saw two snaps on offense. He could be elevated again next week if Keenan Allen (heel) remains sidelined.

  • Collin Johnson: Heads back to practice squad

Johnson reverted to Chicago's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Johnson played just one offensive snap during Sunday's 19-13 loss at Houston. His prospects of suiting up again in Week 3 might hinge on whether or not Keenan Allen (heel) is available.

  • Collin Johnson: Signs with Bears' practice squad

Chicago signed Johnson to the practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Johnson started the preseason strong with three catches for 53 yards and two touchdowns in the Hall of Fame Game against the Texans on Aug. 1. He didn't end up playing in the following three preseason contests, and the 2020 fifth-round pick was unable to crack the Bears' 53-man roster. Johnson could get a promotion to the active roster if any of Chicago's wide receiver corps miss time.

  • Bears' Collin Johnson: Signed to Chicago's roster

The Bears signed Johnson off their practice squad Wednesday. Johnson was elevated from the practice squad for both of Chicago's last two games and caught a pass for an 11-yard gain in the Week 17 win over the Falcons. The wideout will presumably suit up for Sunday's season finale versus the Packers, but he may be in store for only a modest role on offense.

  • Bears' Collin Johnson: Joins active roster

The Bears elevated Johnson to their active roster Saturday. Johnson has been elevated for the second consecutive week and he'll add some extra depth to a Chicago wide receiver room that will be without Darnell Mooney (concussion) on Sunday. Chicago has now used all three of Johnson's elevations, which means the team must sign him to its 53-man roster if he's needed in Week 18.

  • Bears' Collin Johnson: Called up for first time

The Bears elevated Johnson to the active roster Saturday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. Johnson joined the Bears' practice squad Oct. 10 after being cut by the Giants in late August ahead of the 53-man roster deadline. The elevation comes with Chicago's wide receiver corps significantly banged up ahead of Sunday's NFC North clash against the Lions. Tyler Scott (hamstring) and Velus Jones (illness) are both questionable while Equanimeous St. Brown has been ruled out for Week 14 with a pectoral injury.

  • Collin Johnson: Signed to Chicago's practice squad

The Bears signed Johnson to their practice squad Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the Bears cut kicker John Parker Romo from the practice squad to make room. Johnson is 26 years old and has appeared in 26 career games, last seeing regular-season action in 12 games for the Giants in 2021. He has a career 29-377-2 line on 52 targets. Johnson will provide organizational depth.

  • Collin Johnson: Won't make team

Johnson was waived by the Giants on Sunday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports. Johnson missed time during training camp with a knee injury, which likely didn't help the Texas product's chances. The 25-year-old missed the 2022 campaign due to a torn Achilles, but he appeared in 12 contests with the team in 2021. He'll now seek a new opportunity elsewhere.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Ruled out Friday

Johnson (knee) will be inactive for Friday's game against the Panthers, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Johnson injured his knee during last week's 21-16 loss to Detroit and will sit out New York's second preseason tilt. The 25-year-old will now look to get healthy ahead of the team's preseason finale versus the Jets next Saturday.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Will not return Friday

Johnson has been declared out for the remainder of Friday's preseason game in Detroit due to a knee injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. According to Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record, Johnson was able to take a knee next to his wide receiver coach and did not appear to be in much distress, so there is reason for optimism going forward. He failed to bring in his only target prior to leaving the game. The 25-year-old is competing against a crowded receiver room for a depth role with the team this season.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Goes on IR

The Giants placed Johnson (Achilles) on injured reserve Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. After the Giants claimed Johnson off waivers last September, he proceeded to make 12 appearances as a part of an injury-riddled receiving corps, hauling in 11 of 21 passes for 105 yards and no touchdowns on 209 offensive snaps. According to Connor Hughes of SNY.tv, Johnson has been impressive in training camp, which was apparent through two preseason games, where he produced a combined 10-123-0 receiving line on 13 targets. But after Johnson was carted off the practice field Wednesday, he was diagnosed with a torn Achilles, almost certainly ending his 2022 campaign. He'll likely undergo surgery within the next few days.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Diagnosed with torn Achilles

The Giants announced that Johnson suffered a torn Achilles' tendon during Wednesday's practice. Per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, Johnson was vying for a possible key role at wideout after a strong training camp, which included catching 10 passes for 123 yards across two preseason games. However, the 2020 fifth-round pick's season is now likely over before it started, and he could be in danger of missing the start of the 2023 campaign as well.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Excels in exhibition opener

Johnson reeled in seven of eight targets for 82 yards in Thursday's 23-21 preseason victory over New England. Johnson led New York pass catchers in targets, receptions and yards in the opening game of the preseason slate. The third-year pro caught five passes for 51 yards in Week 3 last season but had only six receptions the rest of the campaign. He's on the bubble for a spot on the 53-man roster, so Thursday's performance could prove to be especially important for his chances of making the squad.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Playing Sunday

Johnson (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against Washington, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. With Kadarius Toney (shoulder) and John Ross (knee) ruled out ahead of the contest and all of Sterling Shepard (Achilles), C.J. Board (knee) and Dante Pettis (shoulder) on injured reserve, Johnson could find himself in a regular role in three-receiver sets alongside Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton for the season finale. That said, the Giants' passing attack has been anemic since Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending neck injury Week 12, so Johnson will be tough to trust as a DFS option while he's drawing targets from second-year quarterback Jake Fromm, who is making his second NFL start Sunday.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Listed as non-participant

Johnson (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimation, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. Johnson has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, and his status on Wednesday's injury report isn't encouraging for his Week 18 status. If he hopes to have a chance to play in Sunday's regular-season finale against Washington, he'll likely need to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Out for Sunday

Johnson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bears, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Johnson will be sidelined for the second straight game by a hamstring injury. The Giants are significantly short-handed at wide receiver, with Kenny Golladay being the only fully healthy wideout currently on the active roster.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Not at practice Wednesday

Johnson (hamstring) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Johnson picked up a hamstring injury late last week and was ultimately ruled out for the Giants' divisional showdown with the Eagles. Now, the 2020 fifth-round pick starts off Week 17 prep as a non-participant due to the same injury, putting his status for Sunday's matchup with the Bears in serious jeopardy.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Won't play Sunday

Johnson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Johnson was absent from the injury report until Friday, so he may have picked up the hamstring injury at practice. He caught one pass for 16 yards last week, which was his first reception since Week 8.
